is out, Jake Lewton will get the reps. It's gonna start with these practices each day and preparation and you know all that and I think I think we'll all we'll all know, we'll know it when we see it. I don't think there's anything that's um um I opening, you know, just going there and see if he can operate, and see how he plays against the live rush. I know how he plays, you know, with a without a live rush. You know, he's done some good things, and I'm sure it will be some things that he wants

to take back. And you just hope the good plays are good and the bad plays don't kill you. I think that the truth. Pete Prisco, Tony Boselli joining us now on Jaguar's Happy Hour. How about that? Out everything? I'm excited. Oh my god, By the way, we got a quarterback change. If he plays well, he plays well, you gotta right. Oh my god, what was that? That's sorry? one thing he said? It wasn't with a lot of enthusiasm. He's right, and we have no idea what this kid can do. I mean, think about what we saw last night. And Bend Nucci, who is the seventh round pick, third string quarterback had no reps, barely any reps in camp, probably no O T A s at all, no preseason snaps, getting limited reps all of uh in practice in preparation for the early season games. At least he got some more reps because he was the backup one week behind

Andy Dalton. I mean, Jake Luton has had no reps. I mean, tell me last time, Pete. I mean, you know the NFL works. He worked with the first team offense um before this week. Never never like he's never had a rent, not preparing for the game plan. I mean he's in the meetings, but he's running scout team. He's the third quarterback. He is not getting any real reps until this week. And by the way, they're off today or maybe they came in today, they're off tomorrow.

They have like two days the full like on the field prep. They have to be off tomorrow. It's my point. And they were all they were out all last week. They didn't work at all during I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure the new CBA you're not like the whole weeks off. I don't think they were on the field. I think there were meetings earlier in the week, yes, meetings, but come on, I mean, we're asking this kid, you not asking what are you asking him to do? He

can't expect anything from him. Whatever you get is great point, that's my point. But it's better than starting. Mike Glenn, I don't disagree with you, Pete. I'm just saying as much as like, I think maybe Doug could have shown a little more enthusiasm at the press conference, but he's right, like what you like, like you hope the good ones are good, the bad ones don't kill you. That might have been the worst one of all of them in terms of enthusiasm. Well, I mean, I mean consider where they are right now. I mean, the starting quarterback had

a hurt thumb apparently for a little while. Uh, they've lost six straight games going into the bye week. Now they got to put out a rookie quarterback who they didn't have any offseason program to work with. Stop they don't have to they're choosing. To be clear, they could start a guy who started NFL games if they wanted to. I'm not saying they should, by the way, I'm fine. I'm agreeing with Pete that. Uh, Luton's like, find out

what you having the kid? I mean was time table just got fed up that ball he was going in there in a couple of weeks anyway, But they very easily could have started Mike Glennon one week and say let's give I'm but I'm responding with JP says they

had to do this. They didn't have to do it, and they could have gone with a veteran guy who started football games before in the NFL and those what expect and like has some understanding of what's going to happen on the field when some big defense evans hitting him in the mouth. I mean, this kid has no idea. Now, he might be great. He can throw it, he can spend it, all those different things, but what happens when it's real out there, I don't know. Well, thank god,

thank god the Texans can't rush the past. I mean, look what find out what he Isn't let him play. Yeah it might not look good, but so what I mean it doesn't. Again, it's all about evaluation. That's all this season is about. That's all the rest of the season is about. In value. Evaluation, not your eleven wins to go to the playoffs, nothing but evaluation. But we also if you remember back, I remember Blaine Gabbert during training camp, you ever was like, oh my gosh, she is the best quarterback we've ever seen, zipping him in there, and then all of a sudden, the live rush game, it's like, oh that he was ducking and chucking and ducking. It's a different story. So I don't know. I'm not saying he's I mean, but to your question, if he's good,

I don't. So you're asking me, does that change me wanting to pick a like, so, what does he plays the rest of the way, And he looks like Justin Herbert. Okay, how many games do they win? Well? How many's Justin Herbert? One? He's only one one the Jaguars, right, do they know that they have their guy? Yeah? But okay, but they're scoring a bunch of points doing it. Are a bunch of points and they win one game and he looks like Ustin Herbert, do you need a quarterback? Who's what

But it's nice to find out what the kid has need. Could be a total disaster, But Joe, go find out. Throw it around and don't make him turn the hand off on first and second down and then ask him to go make a play on third down. Texans are bad. Uh, the Titans are pretty bad defends. By the way, Um, what do I expect? Throw for two forty two and one? That would be first start. Now the next start, it's got to be three and one. He's gonna all of a sudden. Herbert does it every game, right, That's what I'm saying, is gonna throw for eight thousand yards is first year and look good doing it if you can look at it and see it and say

forget in the yard because we've seen guys. Yeah, when you get them like I'm not interested in like yds in the fourth quarter, when they're down four touchdowns, when you get them, it's and your eyes will tell you. Your eyes will tell you in two weeks, three weeks, your eyes will tell you if he's any good or not. Yeah, maybe in a maybe in a quarter. I mean, okay, offensive line, any change did you make their No? No receiver, no tight end No. I mean, if it might come back from the injury running back, no,

that's offense. Defensive line. The only thing could be switching it up and playing at different fronts. But but that's that's not happening. In a byewey, it's hard to I mean, I can't imagine it. What happened? Um, maybe start you know it could happen. Maybe you start Daniel Thomas at safety, so he started Daniel Thomas and Jared wi Wilson would be a joy because Wilson's coming back, right, So maybe

I mean, if Houston could do anything, they can score some points, and so will they be able to break the thirty point No? Do you think that You think Houston scores more thirty? Yes, that means it's Lutenie. He's

gonna have to put up some big numbers. Do you think they break the thirty points? Street um gone to head? No? Oh, there you go. Do you win this week? Yeah? This week? They have a chance to this week, but I know they have a chance to lining up three football. We don't have a chance. I'll say yes just for argument's sake. Yes, I don't want argument's sake. We all think they're giving up thirty this week. I'm trying to be negative, but it is what it is. You know, but okay, with that as the back drop, is Luton going to score thirties? So if you think that the Texans are scored over thirty, you think Luton's gonna get their shootout

with I mean, Gardner wasn't fuming up thirty either. By the way, how many times do you think the Texans have scored thirty points this year? Well? I know one time right and they scored him against a garbage time against a couple of teams coming out how many times? How many times? But the Packers they scored thirty. I think it was alway scored twenty there only twice against us in the Titan they'll score thirty again. Um, and could we see some trades by the Texans at the

deadline getting rid of Fuller and J. J. Watt. They're not gonna get rid of j sounding like they're going to keep everybody around with the count and they're not gonna get rid of J. J. Watt as a franchise dumping you happened, Wait a minute, it happened is uh, are they gonna get rid of Fuller? Maybe I would h well, then maybe they won't score thirty. Then they're scoring thirty. I'm gonna change my tune. I don't think they scored thirty. Miles Jack's coming back, Jared Wilson's coming

back Listen, they only scored. They scored thirty against US at Houston and where we played terrible. Like, I don't think they scored thirty. But then you think the Jaguars have a chance to win, then um, yes they have a chance. Everyone has a chance. Every time you think, okay, are you gonna lock it? It sounds like it sounds like there's a dinner bet coming between you two. There's no but I do. I don't think they scored thirty. I don't think the Texans score thirty, so they might

not need to. You know, late in the game, you might not need to score thirty. Might be seven to seven, You're I mean, I'm a realist. I I look, I want to see what the kid can do. I'll be honest. I want to see Luton play. I hope he's put a position where they allow him to play quarterback and don't protect them. Let him play quarterback. Let him sling it around, let him throw it on early downs, and if he stinks, then he stinks, but find out and

then what then let him play next week? And if these stinks, he stinks, then you really know, but you can't protect them. You gotta let him play and when you need me protecting people listening what you're saying there is don't just go run run tass run run tas right, because you know then you're not protecting him. I think I think if you if you let him throw in some first downs and then mix in the run and then throwing early downs, then I think that makes him play. Or like a quarterback, if you go run, run, and at third and eight, then he's tight and you're you put the pressure on them and they can pin their ears back. with Pete Briscoe and Tony Vaselli our crew. Each Monday on Jaguars Happy Hour, We're going to touch on defense. We did briefly there, but can we really call this Happy Hour the way Doug came on. I'm gonna say, like Pete, this is going to be a long spiral

with you this year because you're already down. It's like one of those remember uh kmart back in the old days, right, they used to have this wishing well like you put a coin in and it spun all the way around a bunch of times and got down to the bottom and went in the hall. You don't remember that. We're just at the top with Pete right now, and it's gonna be a long downward spiral with Pete all year of negativity until we reached January three at the bottom.

I'm being positive. I'm looking at the draft already. What do you want me to do that, I'm already looking at the draft. Have you put your first mock out yet? Pie? But but I watched Justin Fields on Saturday night. I want to I want to evaluate these guys. Come on, JP, Negativity, that's not negativity. Negativity is coming in and being morose on a Monday. And we're not morosse. We're looking ahead. We're looking to the future, which is what this team

should be doing now. The future the future we are. The future is Jake Luton right now. Future is bright sunglasses. Yeah, to shield your eyes. JP gets so mad when I'm when I point out the negative, when I say, don't win anymore while you play the game and win, He's like it, don't speaking man, I still I just can't get It's Tony. You talked about this a little bit last week too. I'm kind of with you, man, it's you play to win football games. Now I'm not, I know,

but it's just it's frustrating. JP. You're right, here's the

difficult thing. And it's hard because why I agree with Pete, if you look at the long term this franchise, it's hard to argue that if you want, like if you're just saying, forget this year in the pain and forget about all the people that you know, we have relationships within the building and everything else, just set all that aside, and you could say, um, we could get the first overall picking and get draft Trevor Lawrence, who every expert that you talked to and every coach it says he's

a difference maker. He's a every once in the you know, blue moon type of quarterback, the last one probably Andrew luck Um type of player, and you can guarantee you get him. Well, it's hard not to say, like that's the best pathway. Now, with that said, it's super difficult for me to j P because I want to win

football games, because this is no fun. It's so fun, constantly coming in and talking about all the things that are wrong and bad performance and bad players and bad whatever by coaches decisions and bad rosters and bad this and bad that, bad year after year after year too. By the way, nobody likes talking about it, and the fans don't like the talking about it. I'm tired of it. You're tired. Everyone's tired, um. And so I'm with you. Well,

Pete loves this stuff. I don't. Just a realist, So I'm with you in the sense that, yes, I want to win football games, like I would like to beat the Texas. But it's hard to argue. It is really hard to argue with Pete and his reasoning and saying the best thing for this franchise to lose every game and hope against all hope that somehow the Jets win

two games. And and Tony, I understand, if I'm a player, I don't want to lose a game at all, And I'm gonna go out there and I'm gonna go out there and do everything in my power to be the best I could possibly be to try and win the game. But if I'm the best I can possibly be, and the team isn't good enough, then oh well, then you don't win. Then you start looking to the future, and you can they can say they don't they do. It's

a natural thing. I wonder if you're a wide receiver, I wonder what I like to be He catch passes from Trevor Lawrence. I wonder what it would be like to catch passes from justin field. I think the majority of the vast majority of players are thinking that we gotta find a way to win the game.

Every coach is thinking about how do we gonna win? Dave Cable and all the scout are thinking we need to win a football game. That's all that, because if they don't, then they're all gonna be out of here too. By the way, and picking those guys, what if you're what if you're DJ Chart, You're not gonna be out of there right. No. But but he's still I promise you if you're if you gave DJ Tark truth sirum, he's not thinking about Trevor Lawrence or or justin fields.

He's not thinking about that, Pete. He's not thinking about it openly, but he's fantasized. No, he's not. He's thinking about how he can be the best he can because he knows you don't think. On the Sunday when he's not playing or in the college game, he looks around, he goes, Gods, I wonder where to be like to catch balls from a guy like that. I really don't think he does instead of these passes that flutter in the air like a pump. Come on, I don't think

he thinks that way now. To that point, though, I do think it's the job of what we're supposed to do evaluating is where this team is and where the roster is today and where they sit and what's realistic and what you need to be thinking about, how does this team get better? I think it's hard for them to get substantially better with the current roster. Now do

I think the young guys can get better? And then you can think that's absolutely can't And maybe Jake Luton is like the next great, But I'm so tired of hearing about that. I guess so many six rounders have been this succession. Tom Brady, it's a it's a real small group. It's a yeah, what if it's a group, What if it's a group of two? Good shape. First, overall, when I talk about evaluation, it's taught. I also mean the same thing you do, Tony. Young players getting better

is important more so trying to win the game. I mean, I get it, not trying to but but you know what I mean. In the end game, players making progress is better than getting a fluking into a lucky win. For example, what Pete, what Pete you're saying? Is you're saying, listen, obviously everyone wants to win the game. If you're on the team and you're a coach and you're in the organization, yes,

you want to win the football game. Well you're saying, is okay, let's just step back and be a realistic where this team is right now and great if you win, okay, whatever. But most important, if you're thinking about the future and having a chance to compete for whiteouts and a chance to go to the Super Bowl and not have this conversation year after year after year after year after year, Hey,

young players have to get better. You have to find the quarterback in the future, and you gotta Otherwise you're gonna have the same conversation. It's gonna be every year. Correct. Correct. So if you have an opportunity and they clearly do to get Trevor Lawrence, then do everything in your power to get him. Yeah, but you can't. But that that's where I lose you, Pete, because nobody like Doug your own and Dave called well, the coaching staff, and these

players aren't gonna do everything. They're not thinking, hey, let's do everything we can to lose. They're not gonna try and lose games. But I'm saying, no, the best thing for him is to lose the games. I'm not gonna say you're gonna try and lose games. Nobody tries to lose. Nobody wants to lose. And if you're a player, you take accountability and how you play. If I'm on a one intent team, I'm still playing my hardest and doing my best. And that's what you gotta hope for, And

you gotta hope the young players get better. But the end game is this, young players getting better is more important than fluking into a lucky wind. Say say there's a part return for a fumble, you pick it up. In the end zone. You will be the team somehow you win the game. That's not showing progress, that's showing you fluked into a victory. Is that good for the franchise? Now? Yeah, I mean you're you're We're just saying we're talking about

two different things. What's good in the short term, what's good in the long term. I would to say the long term, medium term, the next year, the next year. Term I mean is finding a quarterback. I mean you have to you have to solve that mystery. You have to find the guy and you have to. By the way, at the same time, you get better on defense too. But that's a whole difference conversation. You know who the number one defense in the league is right now? Tampa

Bay No, Pittsburgh No. Yeah, they gave up four and fifty yards of defense. The number one defense in the league right what by what? Metrics? Scoring? Scoring? Defense? Yep, h number one, number one. Now I think they have their quarterback and he didn't do anything on But okay,

let's take the exact sceneria. Because Miami was terrible. That would you take growth like that in the next season and solidified quarterback position if you could do that of course you would, And why did that happen because they allowed young guys to develop and play. By the way, the Tampa Bay is number one in yards per game total defense. Who's number one, Who's number one in scoring Defensemi dolfins. But if you do that one metric what d v O. I don't know what that stands for.

Like Tampa is the best defense, right, Miami is the best scoring defense, which is I mean, at the end of the day, that's all that matters. That's you score compared to men. You give up and they turned the ball and they took the took the ball away. So yeah, I'm just saying, use Miami as a gage for how you can fix it. You get your quarterback, but you allow the young players during a season when it's going to be bad, to develop and at the end of the season, that's a that's a good thing. That's a

good thing for developmental the developmental process. It's not about just winning games. That's not what this season is about for Jackville. It's about development, developing players. So play the young gids you mentioned Daniel Thomas, put them in there, let them play. All right, let's come back. Um, so there you haven't that's um the latest and long time. Yeah, that's right. So here's another one a fullback. Let's move to defense. Then, in that case, let's talk about some of these young players on defense. You mentioned Daniel Thomas

last segment, Pete. Of course, he had the block punt returned for a touchdown and special teams last week, and the times he's been on the field of defense, which hasn't been a lot. He was in there at one point for an injury for about a half of a game and lead the team in tackles in that game. Um, Devon Hamilton's had a good game last week. That gives you some promise up front on the defensive line. In the interior, by the way, I'm oppressed with him. He's

getting better, he tony. He's one of those guys that benefiting from playing. You can see him getting better. Yeah, I agree with that was his best game. I mean absolutely, I mean more reps he can get. I mean he's gonna get more and more comfortable out there. He's a big guy and you'd like to see a little bit more pass rush out of him. But he's a one technique and he's a big body, and and I thought

he played very well against the Chargers. And he's a perfect example of what's going what what will be a part of what's going forward, and letting him develop the rest of the year. You got to get Chase on going. How does going? How does he get going? He's need reps, you need you know a lot of times, you know, young pass rushers, it takes time for them to get used to working against you know, top end tackles because in college you can beat guys just with your peer

athletic ability. And he's a right athlete. Um, so he needs to continue to work on his technique. His hands is, you know, setting up guys and and understand really the art of being a pass rusher. Um. He's an undersized defensive end. So you're not gonna overpower these guys. And he's gonna have to really work on a speed and you know, it'd be nice to get a little speed

to power move and and uh and work. You know, you've gotta be able to have an inside move to keep the tackles honest if you want to have the upfield speed move. So these are all things he's have to develop, and hopefully, you know, he has nine more games to continue to work and get better. So there's a handful of guys that you'd like to see a little bit more out of as the season goes along. There. Josh Allen, here's a perfect example, Josh Allen talking about him.

It's a good you know segue. Rarely are you just gonna beat guys in this league with speed up the field. It's just like number one quarterbacks do two good a job being all the step up. And so if you don't get pushed from the inside, it's really hard. Just with pure speed, you can get into him sometimes if you get a great interior rush um And so the

great pass rushers, like look at von Miller. Von Miller is a great pass rusher, not just because he has speed, because he has a great inside move, and so it's an offensive time. You have to keep that inside move and you have to be aware of it. He also has enough power to keep you honest, and so you just can't bail out, because we bail out, he'll just push you into the pocket. And so as a speed rusher, you have to develop a counter move to keep the

tackle on it. Otherwise they're just gonna sit bail out on you, keep you in the outside, and run you around the pocket all day long. And that's what has happened in the Um chase on it a little bit. Josh Allen too. I mean Josh Allen's obviously further along. He's had the injury. UM. I still think he's a really good player. Um had a slow start obviously, But you know, it's the development of that second Excuse me, if you're a speed guy, that secondary move. I agree,

and and but can you learn that during a season? Yeah? Why not? What else are you gonna be doing? You're getting all the reps? Yeah, I agree. I think he should be doing more than he's doing. I think Josh Allen will do more than he's doing in the second part of the season. I think Hamilton's going to be a nice building block. What do you do with linebacker? I mean, Miles Miles Jack is coming back. I think he's a good player. At some point, you start taking

away reps from Shober. He's paid on a bunch of But doesn't mean you can't admit your mistake. Do you see that happening? There's not been a history of in this organization of admitting your mistakes quickly. They they make him even more complicated by just piling on top of usually. But isn't a lot of times the greatest thing you can do in any you know, I think in the NFL, but you look at the business world, anything, you know,

make him make a decision. But then guess what, when you're wrong, admit it and move on because otherwise you otherwise you just compound that mistake. So real quick, before we go down this road, I want to ask you a little more about Shobert. Then we'll get to that. What is it is the last few weeks Schobert hasn't lived up to it? And why? But he hasn't lived up for it all year? I don't think. Yeah, he

hasn't lived up to the contract. He's a he's a good sound player, but that that's I mean, he hasn't even been great against the past, which was one of his specialties. Yeah, I mean he's uh, And this isn't piling on him because if he had better players in front of him, he might be a better player too. But would you at all consider looking at like a guy like Shaq Corterman in some situations. You know, it's hard to say pete because I haven't watching them. I mean,

we didn't see these guys in preseason. We don't see him in camp. Can he cover? Can you run? I don't know. I don't think so. Yeah, he's a he's the first and second middle linebacker. So if that's the case, then you like you literally have to change your scheme where you say, okay, if you're gonna take Schobert out, you're of course check in the first down and against right I'm that first. But against regular personnel, he's your

mic linebacker. And then you bring in either Schobert for Nickel or you bring in uh Williams for Nickel and move uh him. I mean, so then he gets really convoluted and you're thinking more, a lot of thinking to be done. Then I get it, and so like do I think, um show it's great? No? Is he awful? No? I mean he didn't play well against Chargers, But there's not like there's nothing that jumps out watching the tape of him, like, wow, he's like a difference maker. No,

and he's not. You're right, he's not awful. He's not a difference maker. He just is, and they aren't just paying him so a lot. Yeah, so play Joe, play right, Dave psh idea is just making play better better. It doesn't work like that. And here's the thing that you have to be careful free agents all the time. Just because you paid that guy a lot of money doesn't mean he's like really good. I mean, like this this

league is this league. This league's history is littered with guys who hit free agency at the right time, got a bunch of money, and they were average players. They've gotta paid that great players because they were on the open market. And the only takes one team to pay you a bunch of money, right, I agree? Will Jackson will make any deals like for what, I don't know deals what we were just trade machine here all of

a sudden. I mean maybe maybe if you like the only way deals I'm making is if I'm trading somebody who makes a bunch of money and get draft picked, and you don't because I'm just who who would you be able to do? Like you can trade who You're not gonna get rid of anybody on that offensive line it makes a lot of money, are you No? I don't think anyone's gonna pay a lot of them. I mean, they're not gonna take those salaries probably. I mean, only the only guy he's hurt he's been hurt is Miles Jack.

That's a big and that's a big salary. But he's your best player on defense. Right now, what about what about Linda and uh and uh Norwell, if they given uh offensive line needy team that might want to make the playoff might be interested, all right, who Okay, let's just think this to Pete, who is that team? It's

gonna giving you something worth trading right now? I'm I'm just saying what Okay, let's just say the Eagles thought that they're they're office line has been bad all year, but you know they have a center that's a problem there.

But if this team played there, if this team played the rest of the year without Linder and played with chat Lee and BArch for chat Lee and Can is a different well by what we've seen in the beginning of the year, now, I mean, there wasn't a huge drop off on chat Lee when no lender is a better pass protective sha at Lee's probably been a better run run player. So but here's our thing. Do you think that Eagles are gonna give you a three for Linda Norma, would you take it? I would think long

and hard about it. I know that. But here's the thing when you have to when you're making the decision peat and I don't know what they're planning, like how they're planning for next year. I would hope you have a plan for like who we want to build around, and so yes, if Lender or nor Well aren't in your plans to build for the future, then yes you

take a three tomorrow. Absolutely if you say these are part of the guys because hey, we want a good veteran offensive line because we're gonna go draft a quarterback. So I look at it differently, Beat, because you have plenty of cap room pay the left tackle and if you're gonna go to the young quarterback, I want a veteran offensive line because guess what, you know it's easier

than life. Is that the learning curve is if you have an offensive line that can protect, then than a team to just get the poor young quarterback killed Andrew luck about it. Yeah, you have to think big picture here. You have to look down the road like you should be evaluating right now. If you're Dave Caldwell. I'm not as much you, Doug mor Own, but say, okay, who are the guys that I want to build with? And if I'm not building with those guys then and if

there's any trade value, trade them. Yeah, and lenders contract, isn't that bad for next year? And you don't save anybody by trading him? All right, guys, let's come back second hour. It's a bigger conversation just saying, let's trade this guy, trade that guy. Yeah, I got it to me. where you know you want to continue to play. And I said, but you gotta make smart decisions and decisions that's what's best for the team, and and and that was it. So, um, I don't think I'm gonna get involved with, you know, at least from my standpoint of any disciplinary measure. There's the head coach today when I asked about that. So apparently it happened a few weeks ago. He's been playing through it, Pete Tony go. I just

my doubts of when it happened. I don't know what why I think he's what I mean, was there any No, I'm not think he's faking. Was there any difference between the way he played supposedly before the injury and after it? Was there any difference? Yeah, it was worse on And I'll say this, I thought he was. I don't think he's been very good by the way, but I think he was really bad against the Chargers from an accuracy standpoint. But was that because of the finger? I mean, Pete,

I don't know. But you don't look at the first go look at the first ball. Yeah, but okay, but then he dropped one into the bucket on the on the deep ball. That's where you're right. It's hard, like you can't have it both ways. You can't say like, but here's everything. I've also played hurt. You know you can fight through it. Gardner Minshew is fully aware of like this might be his only shot. He might never get

back on the field again as a starting quarterback. Now remember this too, and this jogged my memory earlier today about this Gardner Minshew remember in college at East Carolina once purposely tried to break his hand to keep a scholarship. He told that story at one point. So are you saying, I'm not saying that, I'm just saying going to keep the job. I'm not saying I'm just saying that there

is a history of out breaking news. JP just accused Gardner Minshew purposing breaking his thumbs, just looking at just to try to help his career. He tried to. It's a story. It didn't happened. So I don't sign off on anything this group is saying of YouTube, because I think it's it's not very unfair to the kid. I think the kid got hurt in Houston. I think he's a tough kid in the competitor and tried to fight through it, and he just got to the point where

swelled up. Because if he hurt his hand in Houston and it was a broken what was it a broken thumb and ligament issues apparently, Okay, if he had a broken thumb, would it swell? Yeah? That's the other thing. How did you get away? I mean, like, we need to get like a quarterback on here, like do you even throw a ball with a broken I'm with torn ligaments? Well, and the other thing is, don't you think guys in the locker room would know that? People would know? Again, again,

you can't. You're not in the locker room. So how the heck could you tell? I mean, okay, let's just say, Tony, I'm gonna use you as an example. You're playing your team and Brunell's thumb is broken. You would know, and therefore window no, no, no. If he asked me the same thing, I wouldn't say anything, but they would. He would probably tell them too, Hey, guys, I'm playing with a broken thumb. Make sure you're better in protection, you would tell him what would you rather do? Look like

crap and not say anything about it now. But here's the other thing, Pete, this can happen if they're if they're minor fractures. It's not like he could have thought he just bruised it or he just had a spring. He could play through it and maybe he got worse throughout the game. It's against the Chargers. I mean, that's happened. I didn't know my shoulder was as bad as it was. I played with him for a year. Yeah, but okay,

but throwing a football, it got worse. When was the moon ball for the touchdown in the Chargers game third quarter? I think, okay, so then it got better at the game went off, It comes and goes. As bad as the Bengals line has been, they played without their center and their left tackle and the right tackle yesterday. All three of them were out. And the Titan just tripated today for Desmond King from the Chargers because they're terrible. Change my power ring. Yeah, and you've been on them all year. You you've been on him as the number

one team. I stuck to mind. I thought the Colts were the better team, and no last week you said the we're number one, we can go, we're the taping in. But I always thought that they had to be in the number one spocket. They had the better recorden I always done the Titans, the culture, the better time. That's

not how it works. It's not who is the better record, it's who you think is the better team standings culture number one, um Titans the number two, and then i'nn have a tie for third between the Texans and the Jags. The winner. It's the winner take all. So I'm gonna have old number one Tightens number two, the Texans number three, and the Jaguars number four, and the loser takes all. Well, you know the Dolphins are rooting for the Jags because

they have Houston's first round pick. Think about that disaster is that you? I mean, Okay, there's a lot of bad in Jacksonville right now out, but they do have draft pick capital and they have money to spend. The Texans have Deshaun Watson, so they have their quarterback. But everything else is a disaster. No coach, no GM, no no drafts, no draft picks, and no money to spend. Bad situation the Watson in that situation or no quarterback? And what the Jaguars have? What pick do we have

within there? Now? As as four? Is that you said? For Yeah, it's number four? How good is Trey Lands? For Zach Wilson? You are a little bit early on Zach Wilsonbody, No, I'm not. I hate it, but as it stands today, the Jets would pick first eight. The Giants play tonight there one in six, the Jaguars one in six would pick third. Houston's pick would go to Miami. But they were the last thing I saw JP with the strength of schedule, that we were ahead

of the Giants. No, not according to what's in front of me right now. So uh, and then Dallas would be fifth, Atlanta sixth. Currently that's the top six as it stands right now. Okay, the question becomes with the Giants drafted quarterback the Jets would take. Yeah, Jets are taking tremor Lawrence. I don't think they do. I think they stick with Daniel Jones another year. You do. So, then if that were the case, then Justin Fields would be there at number three in that scenario. I mean,

I mean, but someone could try. But but here's the problems. You're the Jacks. I can jump up somebody. Somebody will. If somebody who wants Justin Fields will go up to the Giants and trade with him, well they can you do? Yeah? What make sure you got them? You got extra picks, they got draft pick capital. Let's think about some of these other teams that would need a quarterback down the line here right, Washington, Yes, yes, I mean Atlanta, Matt Ryan. How much you got left? Uh? They bring it? You

know what? The Atlanta situation depends on who they bring in. If they bring in a veteran coach thinks that they can in. Now they go defense because they got I mean, they gotta above their offensive lines. Okay, they got a ton of weapons. They got, Matt Ryan, they have calf issues. Can you get your defense healthy for one year and go spend your draft capital on defense and make it right for the next three years. I mean, that's the decision. And that will be determined who the GM and the

coaches there. He can still play, yeah, he can, absolutely can't. And so you know that's a GM coach decision. You know, you hired. And what does Arthur Blank want to do if he hires a gym who convinces him, Hey, let's start this scrap it, let's clean up the cap, let's you know, you know, draft are you know, start building for the future. Well, then you do. I wouldn't do it because, like, finding quarterbacks are hard, and Matt Ryan

can still play. And by the way, they're gonna win a couple more games this year, so they're gonna be drafting a little lower than that. Anyways, right I'm going by the order as of what would be today right now, So Atlanta, those teams right there, Dallas is gonna take a quarterback. It depends what they do with that. I was going to tack the franchise them. But you'll know how Dax's ankle is by that point too. I mean, there's a lot of un knows there. Yeah, they're not

gonna take the quarterbacks. But so the question becomes through the Giants. In that scenario, do the Giants take a quarterback? What have you seen? I don't either, for whatever reason. How don't we evaluated Angel Jones based on what's around them? The offensive line is putrid. The guy that I thought was gonna be the best left pack all that group has turned out to be the worst so far. Andrew Thomas has been terrible. He's just spinning top and left tackle.

The rest of the lines are very good either. Then his receivers are always hurt. Is Evin Ingram any good? I mean? And he's one of the great teases in the league. And then the running back hasn't been there. How can you evaluate Daniel Jones and what's around him right now? You can't? Well can you? I can say the same thing about Sam Donald, But there's a difference. The Jets will be getting Trevor Lawrence where the second team will be getting Justin Field. So you think it's

that big a drop off between fields? And I gotta do more work on The more I watch fields, the more I like them. He's really athletic, oh unreal, and he has a good arm, I mean. The hard part to evaluating Justin Fields no one's ever near him. Well. The other thing about Justin Fields is the book on him is he locks on a little bit? Did you watch Saturday night? I was driving? Did you watch it Saturday night against Penn State? Yeah? I want I watched it. He can do it, Yeah, yeah, you can throw. It's

like seven on seven watching him back there. Yeah, and he's got good receivers that a lot of as a good receiver. So yeah, it's hard to evaluate him. So there you haven't. He looks the part, there's no doubt about that. And and the way the game is played today with your quarterback needing to move around a little bit, he could do it? What being what? What kind of Like here's what I don't know about either Lawrence for fields?

Like are they leaders? Good kids? I mean supposed really good, both of them both love love football, Like, yeah, that's what you want. You gotta have your quarterback. If you're gonna draft a guy that high, he has to be competitive and loved ball and just wants to be the bets. Well, don't you remember that was kind of the book on Herbert and Oregon was that he wasn't that guy, which was not true. It turned off to be not true because guys I know went in there and they said

he was the alpha guy. You want an alpha, the guy has to be an alpha. He's gotta love it, live it, and be an alpha. Yeah. And if he is, then and he's good, then he's gonna be good.
