Episode description

What brings forth both the best and worst in you? Marshall Chapman says it’s pain, sorrow, joy or a combination of all three … just living life to the fullest? She remembers the pain of leaving everything she knew in cultured South Carolina to pursue her dream at music in Nashville, TN. She was an anomaly in the music business… outside of Dolly, Loretta, and Cindy Walker, she is one of the first original female entertainers that wrote, performed and sang your own songs. Marshall rocked on her electric guitar singing about the conflict in her life where on one fork in the road you’re trapped as a stereo typical woman in Spartanburg, SC and  on the other road you’re living free, cutting a new path chasing your dreams. Marshall shares her life stories like seeing Elvis play when a child with her house keeper from the balcony in the “colored section”  then years later performing and traveling with Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett and playing on stage at the Hollywood Bowl.
