Our standards are directly linked to our identity. Our identity is directly linked to our beliefs - more specifically - our beliefs about ourselves. Our beliefs about ourselves are formed from our childhoods, past experiences, past traumas, our culture, our religious or atheist upbringings, etc. Most people will live their entire lives based on a false identity. But to truly be a new creation, we must fully embrace our true identity - our identity in Christ.
