Episode description

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander listeners are warned that this episode contains discussion of a deceased person.

Right now in Victoria, a landmark commission is preparing to deliver it's final reform report on historical and ongoing injustices experienced by the state's First Peoples. The Yoorrook Justice Commission's Deputy Commissioner, Travis Lovett, has not only heard from people all across Victoria, but has experienced first-hand how systems discriminate against and endanger the lives of First Nations peoples. He and Abbie chat about the importance of truth-telling, the ongoing effects of colonisation, resilience versus resistance, and the Walk For Truth.

If you, or someone you know, are feeling worried or no good, we encourage you to connect with 13YARN on 13 92 76 (24 hours/7 days) and talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Crisis Supporter.
