They know what they're talking about. So let's start off. I want to talk about a supplement I haven't covered in a little while. It's called grape seed extract. And the reason I bring it up today is there's more and more evidence that it really keeps your blood

flowing smoothly. It helps to keep your arteries and blood vessels younger, more supple. See, with age, our blood vessels tend to thick it a little bit. Some people they thicken a lot. They have hardening any arteries, which is extremely dangerous. But in others of us, they just kind of thick it a little bit and they lose their resilience and their elasticity, and it's harder for blood to

flow around. And this reduces the blood flow to our heart a little bit, to our brain a little bit, And that's really where it's an issue, because a diminution of circulation to the brain, the brain is not getting as much oxygen as it really requires them as much energy in the form of calories, and that just comes up brain work and you start to lose a little bit, You start to lose a little bit of the function

of your brain, and nobody wants that. So the grape seed extract its big benefit is it keeps your blood vessels healthy, your arteries and your veins and your capillaries. And that's another thing. It helps prevent them from breaking, like if you bruise easily. It improves the integrity of the blood vessel walls, so they're more elastic, but also stronger, better ten cile strength and the blood flows more freely, it flows more smoothly. There's a number of reasons why

grape seed extract achieves this. Grape Seed extract protects a gas that pumps up in our blood vessels. Just like you inflate a tire on a bicycle or a car, you have to inflate your blood vessels. We do this through the use of a gas called nitric oxide. And nitric oxide, especially as you grow older, we have less of it, which is a problem because you're not only

needed for blood flow, you need to kill germs. But nitric oxide keeps your blood vessels open and the blood traverses all of these canals through your bloodstream more easily, and this helps the fly off high blood pressure. Now here's the interesting thing. GrapeSEED doesn't push your blood pressure down. Okay, so if your blood pressure is normal, it's not going to cause low blood pressure. It doesn't have the ability to do that. It's not like some of the drugs.

What it does it keeps the blood vessels working like they're at a younger age, a healthier time in life, and a blood flows more smoothly, so you don't have to push the blood through when you have to push the blood through to fight to get the blood through to where it's going. That's high blood pressure. So there's several studies now where grape seed has done a pretty darn good job of helping blood to flow smoothly. And

it was just another one recent one. So what about our grape seed, Well, we get the Indiena grape seed. The Indeena grape seed is made by a French Italian pharmaceutical firm, a natural pharmaceutical firm. They make plant products. They don't make drugs. They make plant products and they put their money where their mouth is, in this case grape seed. And they found out their grape seed like there was the San Valentino of ascular screening project. They

tested their grape seed there. These are overweight people. They smoke, their blood pressures, hide their sugars high. A lot them a diabetics. Some of them have blown out kidneys. And when they gave these people of the San Valentino screening project near Barry, Italy, in that area and that region over by the Adriatic supposed to beautiful over there. Everybody from Barri will tell you that Barry is the most

beautiful city in Italy. I know that because my first wife who came to her senses and ejected me at some point. My first wife was a Gucci model from Barry talk about exotic and but she was a good gal. Good gal. We're still friends in any event. The Sandalanentino Screening project when they gave the people our grape seed extract, the invite grape seed, the indeena grape seed, their blood pressure and many of them went back to normal if

it was just modestly elevated. So for instance, if their blood pressure was one hundred and forty over eighty nine, many of them their blood pressure went back to normal. And you don't have to take one capsule twice a day. And there's been a number of studies the University of California, Davis where grape seed extract has lowered blood pressure and overweight people with high blood pressure. I mean, it really

meant something. It really meant them. Now. The other beauty of grape seed, well, you know, I promised to tell you or I didn't promise, but I told you. I tell you. Grape seed helps blood flow in several ways. One way is it spares nitric oxide, So nitric oxide can do its job of blowing open the blood vessels. But the second way is just as an anti inflammatory antioxidant. If there's less inflammation and learning in the blood vessels,

you're not as likely to clog them up. But also they're going to work better, they're going to be more elastic and resilient, they're going to do their job better. So those are two different ways that we know of that grape seed does its job. Maybe it has other activities too that we're not aware of yet, but it is lowering people their blood pressure if they have high blood pressure, especially those who are like a little venoba weight, or maybe this sugar is high. And that's the next

trick with grape seed. If you take grape seed before a meal, it's the best way you can lower your blood sugar by blocking sugar absorption. It's better than anything else. Grape seed extract and the reason for this is it inhibits both families of enzymes that release sugar. So when you eat a starchy food, you don't magically absorb the sugar for the food. You have to release the sugar in a very specific way, and this is done through

the utilization of two families of enzymes. One is called alpha glucosidase enzymes, the other is called alpha anylase enzymes. Grape Seed attaches to both sets of enzymes in your mouth and in your digestive tract, and you don't break down and release the sugar, so you still get all the other good stuff. You get the B vitamins and the minerals like the magnesium and calcium and a potassium all that. You get all that stuff from the antioxygants.

You're just not getting as much sugar. And you know what, I've done that X and Y access thing like the more grape seed you give, the more sugar you block. And I found when you give people like two hundred and fifty or three hundred milligrams of grape seed before a meal, you basically block the absorption of about seventy percent of the sugars. That's really good, especially if you're diabetic or pre diabetic, or you're trying to lose weight.

So if you want help lowering your blood sugar. Let's say you're pre diabetic, but you're not ready to take a drug like metformin yet. You're not there, right, take the grape seat before each meal. You're going to absorb a lot less sugar, or at LEAs before your two biggest meals or your two sugar used meals, which is typically breakfast and dinner, unless you're having a sandwich at lunch.

So the grape seed will inhibit the absorption of sugar rather dramatically if you take it before the meal, like you know, ten minutes before that's enough time, ten to fifteen minutes before it is enough time with some water, and you'll absorb a lot less sugar. So that'll help get your blood sugar out of control. But it can also help you lose weight if that's what you need to do, because you're absorbing less sugar, you're obviously going to burn some fat. You're going to lose some fat

now then next. And of course, you know it's always good to add exercise when you're trying to lose weight because that really gets the ball moving and weight loss exercise with watching what you eat, being careful and adding grape seat. Now, if you don't need to lose weight or control your blood sugar, just take the grape seed away from food or after meals want to inhibit the absorption of the sugar. I mean it will a little bit after meals, But if you take it in between meals,

it's not near to sugar. You're not absorting, you're not affecting the absorption of sugar. One other thing about grape seed, it's a super powerful antioxidant. It's not a big molecule. It gets into tissues and sells throughout the body. So grape seed gets into your skin and helps protect your skin from the aging affects of the sun to a degree. Grape sat does a good job. It takes time to build up in the skin, but a helps protect the

skin from the sun. But if you're going to Florida for what, they start some grape seed now and by the time you get to Florida, you'll have like a built in SPF ten or fifteen because of a grape seed. Now. The second thing, grape seed gets into your kidneys and you're pancreas. So if you have an issue with your kidneys or pancreage, grape sheet gets in there and it

helps protective, It helps reduce inflammation in them. It gets it to your liver, it gets it to your heart, it gets it to your blood vessels, but also gets into your eyeballs and your brain. So it's a very good protective nutrient. So besides it helping with blood flow, and besides it helping if you need to lose weight to get you sugar into control. We told you how

to do that already. Grave sheet also defends you. And that's important because as you grow older, your antioxidant defensive mechanisms decline and cells die easier, and you get inflamed easier. A lot of evidence that as we grow older, hit our sixties and seventies, we get inflamed and this greatly accelerates the aging process and becoming weaker and fragile and feeble and all that. You need these bacteria to digest your food. And as a result, if you don't have enough of the good bacteria, you wind up with things like constipation because you can't break down the food, or you can't permit the fiber to make the fiber work because you need the bacteria for the fiber to work. That's right.

To help protect yourself from colon cancer, the fiber requires bacteria to protect you from colon cancer. It creates something in a coob uteric acid to help normalize cells in the colon to help loader the rusks of developing polyps and colon cancer. But let's keep on going. You can also develop diarrhea if you lack the good bacteria, because the bad bacteria will irritate your digestive tract and you'll wind up with diarrhea and poor absorption of nutrients. Poor digestion,

poor absorption, you'll wind up with gasiness and bloating. And you know, sometimes you get those swellen, swollen tummies after meals. That's frequently just a bad complexion of bacteria, just not the right makeup of bacteria. So we need the bacteria for regularity. We're not gassy and embarrassed all the time, et cetera. And so that we're regular, we need them to digest our food. For instance, you need the bacteria to absorb minerals like magnesium and calcium. You need the

bacteria to help prevent colon cancer. But the most recent dynamic research that actually started a good five years ago in a very solid fashion, is that the good bacteria in your intestines is excellent for your brain in a number of ways. First of all, if you don't have to good bacteria you're always hungry. Lacking good bacteria, you're always hungry. You're going to get overweight. You've got to develop diabetes, you're going to develop a big, big, big belly.

Because the good bacteria convert things into food, into molecules that send signals to the brain that you fall and you're not walking around hungry all the time. You're not starving all the time. You're not looking for milkshakes and doughnuts. You're like, you eate good food and you're happy and you're done, and you walk away from the table and you can go live your life instead of being a

slave to the food industry. So the good bacteria send molecules to the brain, They liberate molecules, and they create molecules like propionic, a acid that when the brain registers enough of these things, it says, oh, you know, I ate enough. I'm shutting down the appetite because the appetite control comes from the brain, doesn't come from the digestive tract, comes from the brain. So you need the good bacteria so you can control your appetite. You're not starving and

not eating all kinds of junkie food. That's that's very important. The bacteria also have a tremendous amount to do with your digestive tracks immune system and your entire bodies immune system, and that's an important thing to learn right now. A lot of you have broken immune systems and it can damage your brain. We'll get into that in a couple of minutes. I'm going to tell you how when you lack good bacteria, the immune system gets broken and you

start damaging your brain. It's not just the bacteria. There's other things going on too, but we'll get into that. It's very interesting. The good bacteria interact with the immune system and the gut about seventy percent of your immune system and a typical person, that's the approximation, about seventy percent of your immune system. Some people say eighty percent, but it's probably about seventy percent takes place in the

digestive tract. And that's important because you're removing dangerous molecules from foods, and you're breaking down toxins, and you're absorbing nutrients, and you're killing viruses and the bacteria and parasites and worms and all that could have been on the food.

So you need the immune system and function intestines. But that same immune system travels around the body, and it turns out when you have the right mixture of probatic bacteria, and there's more than one mixture that when you have the right mixture of good bacteria, your immune system works better against covid, against the flu, against coals, and much

more unlikely against cancer. Also, the immune system works better things like polymorph nuclear leukocytes kind of like your first soldiers against an infection, and your natural killer cells kind of bridge cells with the immune system. All of these things work better. The natural killer cells are better at carrying out a long fight against viruses because it takes time to make antibodies, so you need these bridge cells until you make antibodies, otherwise you're laid bare to an infection,

and then that's super dangerous. So just think about it. Your immune cells are going in there, they're battering rams against the bacteria, they kill the bacteria or viruses, and they're dying off, and all of a sudden you don't have any immune cells. And then then you would die because the bacteria or the virus would take over your whole body. It'd be just one big colony. You'd be a sack of viruses or a sack of bacteria, so you have to have bridge cells down a long last

with kind of a memory. They're called natural killer cells until you can make antibodies take which takes time. So your natural killer cells don't work well when you're older. That's one reason why an infection like like like the flu or covid becomes so much more dangerous than all the people. When you have the bacteria and the probatic HX, the immune system is better equipped for killing these viruses and bacteria. And this starts to work within a week

Because the flu, yeah, flu starts November pretty much November, December, January, pretty much.

All three of those will help the immunes work better. All five of the bacteria will help your digestion better. Okay, welcome back, Cherry Hicky, Invite Health Radio. We spoke about grape sheet extract and we are speaking about our probiotic k checks right now. And I had an input from other doctors that I knew, when clinician that I knew, I wanted to get their feedback on it. So I did a great job in that one. Now, I saw about five six years ago that they were starting to test strains of probiotics on college students, and they saw that when they gave them certain strains of probiotics,

it calmed them down. So like for instance, in medical school, they were going to take these national boards and everybody was getting old bit out of shape, which would happen. I remember taking my pharmacy boards, how scary it was, and it's just blaunting. And they gave them the probiotics starting like a couple of weeks before, and like the anxiety quotion on all these medical school students who were

going to take their national boards dropped precipitously. They just got calm and they were checking their salib salbary, cortisol, et cetera, and the quotas all in their urine. And they saw the court as well, went way down to I mean it's not just that they felt less stressed. They were less stressed, they were sleeping better, they were able to focus better. I mean basically, you're going to improve their performance on the boards if you can clear

out their brain from all the stress. Right, it's easy to focus and think and come up with calculations, et cetera. Because there's a lot of that when you take nursing or pharmacy, or you become a medical doctor, a lot of calculations. Okay, let's keep on going. So there was a series of studies in college students and medical school students and health professionals et cetera. And they found that

you gave certain probatics and a condom rain. So because the bacteria and the intestines creates certain neurotransmitters down to coomic, it's just as simple as that. Plus, the good bacteria prevent inflammation on the brain. If the brain is inflaint, it's always going to be anxious and depressed or you're going to have insomnia. So by getting rid of the bad bacteria, you reduce inflammation in the brain, the brain

is calmer. It's as simple as that practically, practically, But then they did some weird small studies and people with Alzheimer's disease, and they saw that when they gave them probiotics. Now, these are not people with advanced Alzheimer's, I mean, they're already pretty much off the planet. Sadly, sadly, very sadly, these are people with mild to moderate stages of Alzheimer's disease.

When they gave them certain strains of probiotic, they were able to think more clearly, they were able to perform physically better and like do things better, like take care of themselves, you know, like wash themselves and brush their teeth. Thatts that are put under odorant find out where the commissary was to go have lunch with all the other people. I mean, it just worked better. So there were several

small studies like that. I didn't see any big study by several small studies, but then the evidence started coming in for Parkinson's disease. Now Parkinson's disease. There's Parkinson's dementia. Parkinson's takes place in a part of the brain called substantia negropause compacted where you control movement muscle function, and people with Parkinson's they become rigid, and they become so rigid, like their arms are shaking, and eventually their head is shaking,

and eventually it affects their diaphragm muscles for breathing. So how scarious that. But also they develop a severe form of dementia, okay, Parkinson's dementia. And there's Louis bodies involved there, and there is cells in the intestines that somehow, when

they're gone wrong, they develop Louis bodies. And these Louis bodies travel up through the vegus nerve appareently or some other highway into the brain and they struck depositing in the brain and they start destroying the brain and you wind up with either louis By dementia or Parkinson's disease. Yarn roddeling all this information now as we speak. There's a lot of studies going on, but they found that

a trigger is the bad bacteria. The bad bacteria are a trigger to this Parkinson's condition, a horrible disease of aging usually you get when you're older. And you know, I used to notice this jazz drummer who had severe Parkinson's and he had such a good attitude. He goes, Jerry. The only drumming I could do now is a drum roll because it's hand was Shae. I mean, that guy had spirit. Let me tell you, always had a smile onness face and any of it. Let's get back to this.

He's gone there, he left us. So the Parkinson's, they're finding that they when you get probatic bacteria, it helps offset some of the situation that's going on there. And in fact, there's them stat if you have good bacteria, you may be able to intercept the whole Parkinson's situation and help prevent it. So that's where they're going, that's what they're looking at Now, let's look at some of the new data of the bacteria and the brain. So

how to bacteria affect the brain. First of all, they create things out of food, these tiny molecules that control the brain, like control your appetite. Second of all, they release things from your food that otherwise would not be released during normal digestion. They release these things that go to the brain, and the brain uses these molecules to create things for the brain to feel happy and calm

and not have insomnia and not being claimed. On the other hand, when that bad bacteria, they cause consternation and inflate inflammation and the intestines, and that inflammation travels through the lymphatic system directly into the brain, through the spinal cord directly into the brain and starts to create damage to the terrain of the brain. The entire terrain of

the brain starts to fall apart. And you know, it's kind of like having an old infrastructure in a city where they're like the bridges are corroding and the streets have potholes. I love wachaeology and an even. The thing is, as you grow older, multis become really important people over fifty. It's just good sense,

it's just good practice to take a multiod. A decent multi doesn't have to be the best, like the invite, but it should be a good one. And then they found out that even if they already had clawed arteries, hardening, any arteries, coronary heart disease, if they took a multi they were

less likely to have a heart attack. They also found out they were less likely to have eye disease and less likely to develop cancer, okay cancer. In fact, if you did the math, if you developed an algorithm, and you did the math, you'd see that simply taking a multi vitamin and people over like fifty or sixty, there'd be a couple one hundred thousand fewer cases of cancer diagnosed every single year just by taking a multi vitamin.

So when you have the media giving you this news that multivitamins have no benefit, they're really not being honest because they're not being clear. Yes, somebody who's thirty or forty, fine get by without a multi, you'll do better with one, you have more energy. But somebody in the sixties and seventies, they may prevent the heart attack, they might sidestep cancer, they might prevent an eye disease simply by taking a multi. Now, they found a similar result with women. They saw that

women who consistently took a multivitamin, allder women. We're not talking about twenty five year old one. We're talking about like fifty five, sixty past, seventy five year old one. All the women who consistently took a multi vitamin, they had fewer heart attacks. Who wouldn't want the hat who wants a heart attack? Okay, So then studies started coming out with better quality multi vitamins, not your typical one that you get in like, you know, one of these

big box pharmacies, these crappy vitamins they sell, these mediocre vitamins. Okay, When they started coming out with better multi vitamins. They started seeing an uptick in brain function. They saw even in middle aged, healthy, successful people who had a good diet and they exercised, if they took a multi the brain was a little sharper, and they saw in kids the kids were more attentive, but they really short in

older people. There's at least twenty studies now in older people that if they took a good quality multivitamin, their brain worked better, their memory worked better, they had more brain energy, they were able to focus better, pay attention for a longer time. Which brings me to doctor Brickman. He's a very interesting clinician and he found that hey, a decent quality multivitamin slows brain aging, even reverses brain aging, makes the brain younger again, and helps reverse memoryless. So

who is doctor Alan Brickman. He's a neuroscientist, he's a PhD. He's been taking a multi violin for years based on the outcome of his own very big, prestigious studies t of them. So we'll get into that. So he's been taking a multivitamin now I think it's six or seven years, prompted by his own body of research. So doctor Brickman studies brain aging, but he also studies brain diseases, the diseases of the aging brains, such as Alzheimer's disease. He

looks at the healthy brain. He looks at healthy aging and also sick brains. This is at the Taub Institute for Research in Alzheimer's and Aging the aging brain. That's at Columbia University. Okay, so he's a really he's like off the chart bright this guy. He's just a brilliant guy. Okay. So doctor Brickman uses very sensitive neuroimaging technology and what he does he compares physical changes in the brain and chemical electrochemical changes in the brain and how that affects

our memory. He also researches blood floats in the brain and cognitive reserve, like how much brain tissue do you have left over? You're eighty years old to have brain tissue left over, that's cognitive reserve. So his team at Columbia University, the tab Institute, and at Harvard they studied people greater than the age of sixty, equal to or older than the age of sixty. Some popped a multivitamin every day, others didn't. Now this is over three thousand,

five hundred older adults. Okay, it's over three thousand, five hundred people over the age of sixty, so that's a well powered study. It was done for plenty of time, and there's a lot of adults in there. And they found out that the older people that popped a multivitamin their brain functioned better than those who did not. And this was especially obvious that people like heart disease and poor circulation. It really was a huge difference. Now here's

the thing, this is the gold standard. Was he able to duplicate his results? Was this team team able to duplicate the res else? The answer is yes, because previously that was a duplication because previously they did a study in twenty two hundred older adults taking a multivitamin. They found it an up their memory and improved their equal their ability to pay attention, their focus and attention span, their overall cognitive function like learning new things and apply.

It worked better with a multi vitamin than a useless placebo. Placebo is used as a basis for comparison, a safe basis for comparison, because you need something that's a basis for comparison. So now our multivitamin's going to be even better I don't have a lot of time. I'm going to do this quickly. First of all, we have a family of vitamin E in there called toco trianol.
