Get ready for tomorrow's Nutritional Science Today right here, right now. Hello, and welcome to Invite Health Radio. I am doctor Amanda Williams, Scientific director at Invite Health. Happy Saturday. You know, time flies, and I am always a big fan of springing forward. I love when the time change happens. And I didn't even realize that it's this weekend, so that's something to look forward to for sure. And then there's a little lull before
we get into March madness. For those of you who have listened to me before on the show, you know, I am a big fan of not just college football, but also college basketball, so I'm super excited to see how things pan out next weekend for all of the big tournaments, and then who gets in and just March madness. It's always exciting time of year, and we have the Oscars tomorrow, so for those who are into the arts
and entertainment, we've just got an action pack weekend. Today ironically is a National Barbie Day, and it is because Mattel came out with Barbie back in nineteen fifty nine, the very first Barbie. So we know Barbie's up for an oscar tomorrow, so we'll see how all of that plays out. I have a lot of ground to cover with you today when it comes to health and nutrition and of course our wonderful dietary supplements that we offer at Invite Health.
Doing this for twenty five years, I'd say we're pretty darn good at putting together some really remarkable nutrients to optimize your health. As you know, Jerry Hickey is a master formulator when it comes to our products that we have in the line, and I'm going to highlight some of those for you today. But I do want to start off with something that was quite interesting. You know, I'm down here in South Florida and we're starting to get the
mugginess. It's starting to come. But that's okay. I can accept that. But fau Florida Atlantic University is just up the road for me in Boca Ratone, and they have been really doing some interesting research over at their medical school, and probably about a year ago they came out with their findings on ultra processed foods and they were actually quite surprised by how many Americans are consumed ultra processed foods as part of their daily chloric intake. It's upwards of seventy
percent of your calories each day can come from ultra process foods. And you know, I am a big advocate of adherence to a Mediterranean diet. It's truly the best way. I mean, the science is enormous when it comes to the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. And I don't like using the word diet because I always say diet for most people kind of sends off a flag in the brain of you know, caloric restriction or trying to lose weight.
But Mediterranean diet is really a Mediterranean style way of eating, and unfortunately a lot of places throughout the Mediterranean they don't even eat that way anymore because of our influence of ultraprocessed foods. So you're starting to see some health markers throughout the Mediterranean, where you know, you have an uptick of obesity and diabetes. So they're kind of mimicking the the same bad health patterns that we have here in the United States. But FAU, they just came out with
another study on ultra processed foods. They really kind of dove into this a little heavier after, you know, coming out and saying, wow, you know, seventy percent of those calories each day are coming from ultra process foods and what does this actually mean, you know, for health in general.
And they're kind of coining it as the new silent killer. And remember in the past, we always recognize the main silent killer as being hypertension, and now they're saying, you know, it's really the foods, and we have to correlate this. So the researchers over there in boke Up started to look at those ultra process foods and the different additives the emulsifiers that they're using in
those different food products. And remember this is a cross the board. It's so hard to avoid ultra processed foods anymore because they've really pushed it to the American population that, oh, you don't have time to eat healthy and so it is a very unfortunate thing. But we know we can make smarter choices and we do drive our own bus when it comes to what we put into our bodies. So you just have to be proactive. I always say that,
please be proactive to your own health. We come into this world with one body and we have to be able to be kind to our body. Our bodies can be very forgiving. So say you've messed up for the first three, four, five, six decades of your body's life, that's okay.
We can bounce back from that. So and work with one of our nutritional experts, because they are wonderful at not just helping you identify which products in our product line for you to be taking on a regular basis, but also for you know, helping you navigate what can be overwhelmed when it comes to just foods and exercise and stress management. So please talk to one of our nutritional experts. They're available seven days a week. Now back to the
study. So they're looking at the oils and the fats and the sugars and all the different mulsifiers and chemicals that are contained in ultra processed foods. And one of the big areas that they really were able to zero in on is the amount of dys biosis this is creating in the body. What is dys biosis means? It means taking at your natural microbial environment that resides within the intestines to keep us healthy and keep everything regulated, not just your bowel movements
regulated, but all of our different systems. When you think about the gut brain connection, so your mood, looking at your gut liver connection, and
how you do toxify every single day. So they said, so many of these ultra processed foods contain these different components and additives to them that our microbiome says, what in the world is this and they don't know what to do with it, And so we get this sudden shift that occurs in the microbial environment, and so we start to harbor more and more bad bacteria which can
lead to these different disease states. So food for thought, eat healthy and what does that mean, because that's always a common thing that you hear as well, just eat healthy, But what does that actually mean? Well, go to invite health and we will help you identify how to actually eat healthy and achieve that because it's not that difficult I use myself as an example.
I used to have a horrible diet. And I always say, you know, back when I was in medical school, if someone would have came to me and said, hey, Amanda, give this patient some advice on eating healthy, I mean I was definitely not the hallmark, you know, person to look at for eating healthy. I had a absolutely horrific diet throughout medical school. Youth was on my side, so that's what I credit, you know, being able to muddle through every single day was I was much younger,
and so I had a lot more Cohen's. I'm Q ten and everything was running, you know, fairly efficiently, even though I wasn't fueling my body properly. But I would not have been the right person for someone to talk to. I would have said, yeah, eat healthy, and they would have said, well, what does that mean. I'd say, I don't know, And it's just it's a term that we use eat healthy. But eating healthy is really not difficult. It's eating whole foods, eating fruits
and vegetables. Remember you're supposed to get two to three cups of vegetables per day, one to two cups of fruits per day, and if you want to challenge yourself. Just keep a little food diary for like two or three days. It doesn't have to be complex. You don't have to write, you know how many ounces, you know, you don't have to get super
specific, but just kind of jot down everything that you're eating. And then you go back and you look at that, and you can even bring that into an invite health store and one of our nutritionists will go through that with you and they will not judge anything that you've been eating, trust me, because they've all been there too. And then we can help you identify where
we can start to make little adjustments to the foods that you're eating. And trust me, once you make that shift and you start eating healthy, truly healthy foods that your body can utilize, that actually help to optimize your microbiome, which in turn helps your mood and your sleep and your stress response, you're going to feel really good. And I use myself as that example. I feel so much better now then I did all those years ago when I was in medical school. So you can do this. If I did it,
trust me, you can do it too. Now let's move on to some supplements, because that's what we're here for, right we want to talk about what we can be using to help our body along. And we know that there's basic nutrients that we really need to get in each and every single day. So if you're not currently using a complete multi vitamin multimineral complex, by all means, check out our extensive line of multize. So we have
the Core multivitamin. That's an excellent starting point. Get that full spectrum of your key vitamins and minerals, those activated B vitamins that really help to energize up your cells, helps with red blood cell production, helps to regulate the amount of nutrients that your liver gets to help detoxify. Your liver is highly reliant on B vitamins to be able to detoxify a lot of times people don't think about B vitamins that way. So taking the Core multivitamin as a starting
point is a really good place. And of course you get the wonderful bioflavonoids and the carotenoids in that natural vitamin E, which really makes a difference with cholesterol management. It's interesting the way in which vitamin E is working in the body. It works along the same pathway that statin drugs work. So you have this enzyme pathway, and so if you're taking a statin medication, what that's actually doing, it's mechanism of action is it's blocking what is known as
hmg CoA reductase. So not that you necessarily need to know that, but this house statins are working. They lower your cholesterol because it's blunting that cholesterol pathway. So we also know that vitamin E works along that same pathway. But what's nice about vitamin E it's a natural antioxidant. So not only is it helping to lessen that cholesterol if you are dealing with elevated cholesterol, but it's also giving you powerful antioxidants to help fight off oxidation that can occur within
your cholesterol particles. So we never want to have oxidized LDLs, and you can actually have that blood test done. Your doctor is never gonna run this as a standard blood test, trust me, but you can find doctors who will run this. And if you see that you have a high amount of oxidize LDLs, then you can make adjustments to what you're doing every day. So maybe you add in in addition to the core multivitamin. You then add in our toke trian al extract with the pine bark really great way as a
statin alternative. So I always like to highlight that. So we know that taking a multivitamin every day is key to kind of really fast tracking our daily routine. But we cannot overlook omega three fatty acids and the importance of omega threes because we know that if we fall into that category where we're just ultra processed foods all the way, we're definitely not getting adequate exposure to those very important and essential by the way, Omega three fatty acids. So what do
we do. Well, we look at krill oil and I want to tell you all about our Antarctic kryl oil formulation, incredibly powerful. I've been in this industry for a very long time now, not to date my self, but a very long time. There's a lot of krill oils out there on the market. Not all krill oils are made the same source the same, the potency of the total omega threes are not the same, and the invite health krill Oil Advanced is a super powerhouse of in a mega three fatty asset.
So I want to talk about the science of our krill Oil Advanced but I do need to squeeze in a quick break, so stick around with me. I will be right back just after this. Happy Saturday morning to everyone. I am doctor Amanda Williams, Scientific director at Invite Health. Remember our stores are open seven days a week. You can go in and you can have a chat with one of our nutritional experts. That is
a free service and it's so important, you know. I, as I mentioned, I've been in this industry nutrition, dietary supplements for for so many years now, and it can be really overwhelming. And you know, I'm on the science side of it, so you know, I'm doing other things.
But I always look and think, you know, if I didn't have the background that I have, if I didn't go to medical school, and I didn't have, you know, my master's degree in you know, nutrition and you know, public health, I would not have a clue as to you know, what is an omega three fatty acid. I mean the average person, Like, why would you know that? Right? So it can
be kind of overwhelming. So even if there's products that I talk about on this show that you say, you know, I think that that sounds good for me, maybe I should be taking that. Please go and talk to one of our nutritional experts because they can kind of get under the hood and understand more about, you know, what your health goals are, where you may be having some struggles. Always say you want to start at a base point always, and you know, including Omega threes is something that I say
everyone should be on. So a comprehensive multivitamin multimineral along with taking an Omega three fatty acid every day. It's very important. But please stop buy and talk to one of our nutritional experts. We have doctor Claire. She's a naturopathic doctor. She has so many years of experience and is just so kind and really passionate about what she does each and every single day. So stop
by and have a chat with her. She's at our Forest Hills location, so if you can't make it over there, you can always give a call. You can call that store directly. You can call our eight hundred number and we're happy to patch you through to one of our nutritional experts. So onto Antarctic chriln and the krill oil that we offer. It really is incredibly powerful. The absorption rate is key and so when we tested this product out
many years ago, we could see those blood levels. And this is important takeaway because as I mentioned before the break, not all krill oil, unfortunately
is made the same same thing with fish oil. And I always say, if you want to go to Costco and get your year's supply of fish oil for ten bucks, then great, but is it really going to be absorbing properly to give you those benefits that you hear us talk about on this show when you hear Jerry talk about the importance of you know, fish oil for brain health and for cholesterol management and for heart rhythm, and same thing with krill oil. You have to be using, yeah, the powerful extracts that
we use in order to see those same results. And so this is very true of krill sourcing. Of krilla's first place that we always look at, so we source from those very cold Antarctic waters, and so it allows for the healthiest of that that krill. And then you start to look at the science and you know, krilla is unique in terms of its total omega component, but also that it contains that key phospholipid. It naturally has coline in
it, and it's known as phosphatidal coline. But this is important because when we start to recognize how coline itself is working in the body, and we see that coline is key for making acetyl coling, so that we can make new memories so that we can remember what we did yesterday and make new memories for today. So coline is a precursor helps us make additional acetyl coline, but it's also very important for liver detoxification. So posatile coline is very protective
to your liver cells. Member your liver cells can get quite beat up throughout your life, and so we want to be able to nourish our liver. So having krill oil allows not only for optimizing cardiovascular health and brain health, but also liver health. So it's very comprehensive and it naturally has astaxanthin in it. Astaxanthin is a powerful carotenoid. So when we think of carotenoids,
we think of our eyes, but we also think of our brain. And so when you're supplementing with the Kryloil Advanced and ideally you're taking two capsules per day, there are times where you may speak with one of our nutritional experts and just based on you know what your goals are, what health conditions you're dealing with, they may advise that you take three per day, or perhaps two capsules twice per day. So everybody's different, so you're not going to
get just like a blanketed. You know, this is how you use it, and this applies to everybody. We try to personalize your supplementation routine so that you get the most out of these formulations. But you start to look at all of the many benefits that go along with daily supplementation of krill oil advanced and you know, for support of healthy blood glucose levels. When we
look at the support obviously of healthy cholesterol. Regulating inflammation, we know that chronic low grade inflammation is the backbone to all of these different disease states that so many Americans are dealing with. So we can look at things like arthritis. For example, millions millions of Americans are dealing with arthritis, and what do they do. They turn to an end zid. You know, they're
rushing off to walls and they're getting their ibuprofen. Well, how in the world is that helping regulate inflammation and ease and try and heal and repair. It's not, But we know that krill oil actually can do this for us. And it works as a lubrication within your joint spaces, especially for people who are dealing with any type of arthritis in your hands. And I think
this was maybe about ten years ago. I was working with UH, a woman who was struggling with severe carpal tunnel and she had tried, you know, all of the conventional treatments that her doctor had prescribed to her and to no avail. You know, they wanted to do surgery, and she was
very reluctant to that, and I certainly understood why. So we started working on some dietary modifications, lessening those you know, high inflammatory foods that she unfortunately was taking in so we changed the diet and added in krill oil. It was remarkable how quickly that krill oil was able to start to lessen take
away that inflammation within those small joint spaces. And she was she was like, oh my gosh, I've been taking these powerful prescription medications for pain and inflammation and you know, kind of in a sense numbed the pain, but it never made it go away. And starting to use the krill, she was like, this is like a night and day different. So krill It
really is remarkable, is my point. When it comes to joint inflammation, whether we're dealing with larger joints such as your knee, or if we're dealing with, you know, smaller areas within the hand and the wrist, because I think a lot of times when people think about arthritic joints, they only think about the larger joints, and a lot of folks do you know, depending on what you're you know, occupation is or was, that you can have a lot of damage done in those small joint spaces. So turn to
the Krill Oil Advanced is my point. So supporting our heart, our cardiovascular system. These are all of the things that we know about those omega threes and how they're working. And when you're using a powerful antarctic krill such as what we offer in the Krill Oil Advanced, the way in which it absorbs and is taken into our bloodstream and starts to work incredibly quickly, you will start to see and feel that difference. And when I say see the difference,
this is when you can do blood testing. You know, you can directly test your fatty acid levels. That's one thing that you can do. Doctors don't do that, but you can get your blood levels tested of your total omega threes and we can look and see what that ratio is, how many of the pro inflammatory omegas do you have in your body versus the anti inflammatory omegas do you have in your body. We can also look at markers for inflammation. We can look at your triglyceride levels, we can look at
your LDL levels. So there's a lot of ways to assess the true effectiveness of Krill Oil Advanced. And I say that with great confidence because I'm very comfortable knowing what our crill Oil Advanced contains and just how powerful that is. So I know if you're using it. We can see those changes in measurable data points such as blood test, but also in the you know, the
objective. So you need to have your subjective in the objective. So if you're saying, you know, hey, Amanda, I'm dealing with a lot of pain in my knee, I'm going to start using your Krill Oil Advanced, and I'll say, okay, we'll come back and talk to me in two weeks or in one month, and you say, yes, I can see the difference. I have significantly less pain how in my knee. So these are the things that I expect for you to experience when you're using our
Krill Oil Advanced. And you start to look at just the really remarkable published
clinical studies on krill oil. Obviously, the cardiovascular system has a really large abundance of studies that have been conducted and really solid studies those randomized, placebo controlled, double blind trials where they were giving people krill oil and then assessing different levels for inflammation, looking at fasting glucose levels, seeing and recognizing how individuals who fall into that category of metabolic syndrome where they have insulin resistance and
they start supplementing with a powerful krill oil extract, how their blood sugar levels start to improve. And so this is why I always say having an omega three as part of your daily supplementation routine can be so rewarding to your system because it's every single system. Those omega three fatty acids are so important for regulation of everything from heart rhythm to brain functionality, to the way that your
liver is detoxifying to blood sugar regulation. So you know, time after time we continue to see this and the cognitive benefits are enormous with krill oil. So if you do have concerns with memory or focus attention, and you are not supplementing with an omega three fatty acid, then I definitely encourage you to look at the kryl oil advanced looking at you know, keeping our brain and
our mind active as we grow older is important. I always say, you know, one of the major drawbacks to the high amount of ultra processed foods that so many Americans consume is the shrinking of the brain, and it's oftentimes not talked about. People usually will say, oh, if you're not eating good, you have to be concerned with your cholesterol and your blood sugar.
Well, yeah, that's one component, but we don't think about the long term effects of our brain starting to atrophy at a much greater rate than normal aging would provide. So we want to maintain the fullness, the volume of the brain and the brain itself. It's highly complex. You know, you have one hundred billion nerve cells known as your neurons, and then you have
another trillion supporting cells. So that's a lot of cells that we have to make sure that we are caring for because if your cells are losing their functionality, then it's no wonder why we feel brain fog, why we don't feel as sharp, and we know that when we want to optimize our brain as we're aging, Krill Oil Advanced can be our partner in achieving this. So
I do need to squeeze in a break right now. When I get back, I'm gonna just mention one other study and then I'm gonna move on to other products, because as I mentioned, I have a lot of ground that I want to cover today, So stick around. I will be right back just after this. Maintain muscle mass and fuel your body with Invite Heal's brand new Plant Protein powder. Looking to stay lean and strong, This vegan plant

dot com and welcome back to Invite Health Radio. I am doctor Amanda Williams talking about the kryl oil advanced formulation has the natural coaline in that along with the natural astxanthon. Remember the the cryl oil contains both the EPA and the DHA. Our brain has a limited capacity to produce DHA on its own, but where it really is relying on the omega intake is coming from our blood streams. So this is why I mentioned that the kryloil advance, the absorption
rate into the bloodstream is just phenomenal. So this is why when you're looking at different kryloil formulations on the market, you have to understand, you know, how did they test this? You know, did they actually look at
the blood levels? How well the body can actually absorb this key omega three fatty ass And we know with the krylo oil advance, we definitely can assure ourselves that that is making its way into the blood stream, it can make its way up to our brain for all of those neurons to thrive on and help with our focus, attention and memory moving forward. And you get that benefit of the coaline, so that additional acetylchline so many ways for you know,
joint health, muscle health. You know, a lot of time you don't think about your your muscles and how omega three fatty acids are so important for maintaining muscle mass. We never want to fall into that category of age related muscle mass loss. It's just not ideal whatsoever. And so through you know, supplementation of krill oil advanced, we know that we're going to be
giving our muscles this wonderful way once again to properly thrive. And you can look at things such as, you know, a trail fibrillation, strong correlation between low omega three intake in someone's diet and a direct correlation with a FIB. It's just it really is a mess when you think about a trail fibrillation.
Unfortunately, what happens is, you know, if you have a FIB and you go to your doctor, they are going to put you on a blood dinner and they're going to say, well, you have to be on this for the rest of your life because we don't want you to stroke out without ever looking and saying, well, what's your diet? Like, you know, do you get omega threes? Are you taking crill oil advanced? You know, what are you doing to try to offset some of these issues
that can arise. They just put you on the blood thinner and say see you later. Not really the ideal way to address that. As a matter of fact, American Heart Association just this past week came out and showed that there's a really strong correlation between intake of sweetened beverages. So, yes, folks use soda drinkers, whether that be straight soda or diet soda, the zero calorie sodas. It doesn't matter if it was you know, straight sugar
or the artificial sweeteners. And I always say artificial shouldn't ever go in the body. But that's neither here nor there right now. The point is American Heart Association, they drew this direct connection between intake of those sugar sweetened beverages and the risk of atrial fibrillation. It was actually quite a large increase risk. And then it was somewhere in the range of twenty percent increase risk.
And you may say, oh, that's only twenty's that's pretty high. You know, just because you want to drink your soda that you're putting yourself at a twenty percent greater risk of having a trial fibrillation and then merching down that path of having to be on a blood thinner for the rest of your life.
I mean, it just doesn't make much sense. Where we know, you know, proper diet, adherence to Mediterranean diet, intake of omega three fatty acids every day, so using the krill oil advance, making sure you're getting magnesium every day, Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important for heart rhythm. So all of these things that we know, they're just basic things, but yet we always overlook, we do this reactionary and we wait until, Okay, here's the problem with the heart. You know, the rhythm
is off. What's our solution on blood thitter? No, we need to actually say what caused this, how did we get to this point, and how can we go back and kind of undo this. Well, we just start giving our body what it needs to properly function, including the heart rhythm. And the heart, you know, runs on an electrical conduction system, which is heavily reliant on magnesium. So if you are one of that seventy
five percent of Americans that has inadequate magnesium intake each day. Well, then you can see how you can run the risk of you know, having a fib or other conditions, even you know, hypertension for example. Now I want to talk a little bit about DGL I and the reason why I don't talk about this product often, but I do want to talk about it because
it came to my mind this week. I had someone who reached out to me who is dealing with some upper GI issues and they didn't want to take you know, standard over the counter nutrients to address this because they know that had artificial colors in it and talk and corn starch and a bunch of junk. And it's like, I don't want to take that, and I don't blame them. So we started to talking about DGL And you know what's remarkable
about DGL, which is a deglistenized licorice extract. And the reason why that's important is because when it's not decalistenronized, then it can create a problem for blood pressure regulation. So our DGL lozenges they are degalistenized. So even if you're dealing with high blood pressure and you're on a medication, you can certainly take our DGL. It's not going to affect your blood pressure, but we can see all of the ways to which DGL has been studied in terms of
being able to heal and soothe the upper GI. So if you're dealing with acid reflux, for example, heartburn, indigestion, DGL excellent. We see
the science on this. But in speaking to this individual, you know, I was pulling some different studies and you know, there's really fascinating studies on the anti microbial effects of licorice extracts the DGL when it comes to your oral health, and so it got me thinking, I thought, you know, I'm gonna mention this on Saturday, because there's no better way to take the DGL than to take it in the form that we have it for your oral
health. And what they found was that it actually helped to minimize and inhibit any type of biofilm build up that was occurring. And we definitely know that when it comes to oral health you have you know, periodontal disease or any type you know, gingivitis for example, this can lead to systemic health issues, including cardiovascular problems, including brain health problems. So oftentimes we overlook the importance of oral care. And yes, going in and having your regular cleanings.
All of that is one component to that. But just think about every day, you know, what are our mouths. I remember, you know, years ago with someone saying, yeah, you know, human mouth is much you know, dirtier than a dog's, and so you think, well, what should I be doing for oral care? So DGL I just wanted to mention that because sometimes people may think, well, I don't have heartburn, and if you don't, hey that's a great thing, right, but
you may not think about DGL in the setting of oral care. So it is very easy to take even if you just have it a couple of times out of the week, you know, just chew on one of those lozenges and allow for that to target any of that gingevile back, you know, that build up that occurs. Because we know that the different types of bacterial strains, the Streptococcus for example, we know that these are the root cause even for creating cavities. So if we want to optimize our oral care,
utilizing DGL is a really good way for us to turn to. And as far as the clinical research trials in the Journal of Plants back in twenty twenty one, they kind of went through and they broke it all down. You know how it is beneficial not only for the upper GI tract, but for you know, treating throat infections and respiratory health and liver health. And it
has its own natural antibacterial properties and anti inflammatory properties. So it's just one of those products in our product line that perhaps we don't highlight enough for you, But I just wanted to mention it because it's a really nice thing to just have on hand. Plus, you just never know if you go out to a restaurant or something and you order something that normally you don't eat, and you get home and it's just not really sitting well with you and you
just feel like you have a little bit of that heartburn. Much better to turn to to DGL than those other things that you find at Walgreens and the likes where they put artificial color in there. I mean, I I'm not going to mention the brand name, but I think everybody probably knows what I'm
talking about. But when you look at what's actually in that as I mentioned, corn starch and talk and then they put artificial color in there because this is what they think of us. They think, oh, we We're only going to like to take this if it's got this pretty pink color, if it has a pretty blue color, green color, yellow color, it's just yikes. Because we know that the artificial colors they raise havoc on our intestinal
microbiome. So we know the ultra processed foods are creating dys biosis, but those artificial colors, that's part of that. So if you have heartburn, please don't be using that stuff that you find at wallgreens. Use DGL, so DGL wonderful for oral care. I just wanted to mention that. Now, what else do I want to inform you of today? Well, something I wanted to talk about was green tea and the importance of green tea extract.
We talk a lot about green tea, and I focused on green tea over the maybe the past couple of shows because of its anti viral capabilities,
especially targeting things like influenza. So we know that the EGCG or the epigallocatechin gaylate that's contained in green tea has a lot of anti viral properties to it, but we also know that it does wonders when you think about anti inflammatory action and in the Archives of Public Health in February, they were looking at a direct causal link to intake of EGCG and a lowered risk of cardiovascular disease,
but in particular a lowered risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetics. So this is important takeaway because when you look at a diabetic and you know, outside of clearly having a blood sugar control issue, you have to look at the systemic problems that arise in the disease state of diabetes, which is clycation or sugar that circulates in your body and because you have too much of it, so you have all this sugar that's just kind of floating around and it damages
your blood vessels. It happens through what we know is glycation. Glycation. If you want it, like a visual of what that looks like. Barbecuing. Okay, so summer's not that far away. But so you say you're barbecuing, that charring that happens on the food, that's glycation. So just think about that for a moment. Do we want to char the inside of our blood vessels? Is that something that we should all be aiming for?
Should that be a goal? No, we don't want to have barbecued insides, and we know that diabetics are incredibly prone to this, which is why if you have diabetes or pre diabetes, you are at a much greater risk of cardiovascular disease or having a cardiovascular events such as a stroke or a heart attack because of the damage that's been created over time within your vascular system.
So they found that EGCG from green Tea was associated with a significant reduction in the risk of stroke, the risk of a heart attack just through the action of EGCG. Because remember, one thing it can do, it can target that glycation, but it also is a powerful antioxidant that's protecting the vessel lining
and it's regulating inflammation within the vessels. So we know that if we are supplementing with the green TTX for example, very easy to use that take two full droppers of our green TTX, get a high amount of that total EGCG, mix that in with four to six ounces of water, just based off of what you're taste buds like, and you can have that warm. You can you know, heat that up. People often ask, you know, if I heat that up, is that going to somehow diminish the power of
the EGCG. No, you can drink it cold, you can drink it hot. However you want to drink it, just drink it. That's the important takeaway here. But I do want to talk about the benefits of green tea when it comes to brain health, So I'm going to talk about that on the flip side of this break. You are listening to Invite Health Radio and I will be right back. It is cold and flu season again.

Health Radio. I am doctor Amanda Williams. Now back to Green Tea when we start to analyze the power of EGCG and we have our Green Tea extracts, so that's the the liquid form. I advise using two full droppers into four to six ounces of water. You can do that once or twice a day. But consistency, that's just important. And the nice thing about using the liquid tincture is it allows those catechins from the green tea to coat the back of the throat. So you know, there's still bugs out there in
the environment, you know, flu, just different colds. You know this, do you want to always try to protect yourself, So sipping on the green tea really nice way to do that. We also have our Green Tea capsules, and that's nice because that also has black tea and then we know that the theoflavens, those are a powerful way to lower inflammation in the body. So black tea has its own kind of unique little spectrum. It has EGCG in it, but also has a high abundance of theoflavins, so you
can use the capsules if you'd like. So that's the Green Tea HX or the Green Tea t X. But one of the fascinating ways to which green tea really can help with brain health is it improves upon that gut microbiome. So when we look at that microbial environment once again within the intestines, we want to make sure that we're optimizing that, that we're nourishing that with good, healthy things every day, which is why your high fiber foods are so
important because they help to make buterrate. Buterrate it's really key. It's a natural anti inflammatory, and we get that from high fiber foods. So we look at how green tea is also working to improve upon the diversity of the bacteria, those healthy bacteria in our gut, and then we draw upon that connection once again between the gut and the brain. So when you look at ways to bolster up brain signaling, for example, and we think about neuro
hacking, I've talked about nutritional neuro hacking before. How do we optimize our brain, how do we keep our brain sharp as we get older. This is one of the ways that we can do this. We can take our Kril oil advanced, of course, but we can also include in the power of green tea. And one of the ways that we know that green Tea is working is to protect those billions of neurons in the brain from degenerating,
from breaking down. It helps to ease inflammation, any neuroinflammation that's occurring, and at the same time it helps to give this layer of protection through its antioxidant power. So green tea super duper important. Mine's synergy. I want
to mention this product. This is one of my go tos. I actually just had someone the other day reached out to me from Australia, so from down Under, and he listens to a lot of our podcasts that I do as well as Jerry Hickey, and so then he'll, you know, reach out to me and say, hey, Amanda, will listen to this podcast on brain health and you know I'm dealing with this, what do you advise?
And so we had a chat about Mine's synergy and Mine's synergy is really quite amazing in terms of the blend of nutrients that it's contained within this product, and it's a powder, So once again, it's very easy for you to incorporate this into a daily routine. And I always mention to people, even if you don't take it every single day, at least you're taking it, So having some of it is better than not having any. And so this is a combination of phosphatidyl coaling, So that should ring a bell for
you right now. What else has phosphatydyle coling krill? So this has phosphatydle colin, and then it also contains ginko bloba, and gink is just remarkable in terms of how it helps to support our circulatory system in general. So even if we're thinking about blood pressure regulation, ginko bloba very very helpful. It's every single vessel in our body is prone to the damage brought on by inflammation, damage due to oxidative stress or free radicals, for example, So
we want to try and protect all of those vessels. And we know that ginkgo, which has been around for close to three thousand years and probably the most well studied of any herbal extract out there, is really a powerful way for us to get this circulatory support and protection all at the same time, and so when we think about the aging brain, we have to think about
the tiny little vascular system that feeds in to our brain. We want to be able to protect that the best that we possibly can, and this is where the Ginko boloba really can be incredibly beneficial. So we're taking mind synergy, we're getting all of these powerful nutrients that are blended together. It also has the alpha glyceryl phosphorl coaline, so this is a different variant basically of coaline and alpha gpc over in Europe is actually prescribed as a medication for the
treatment of Alzheimer's. So take that in for a second. Alpha gpc used in European countries for Alzheimer's disease and dementia. We have it in our mind's synergy formulation. So this is why it's pretty important that, yeah, maybe I would want to be supplementing with the old mind synergy on a regular basis. We can see how effective the way in which genko boloba is working to enhance not only the adequate blood flow to the brain, but for those signaling
pathways. Once again, so it's amazing when people start to supplement with gink that they say, you know, it's a I feel really sharp, And I think that that's a big complaint that many individuals have, and sometimes we chalk it up as like, oh, well, it's just normal aging. I'm not supposed to be as quick as I once used to be. But that doesn't need to be the case. You know, if we nourish our body with the appropriate nutrients, we're getting those omega three fatty acids to maintain
brain volume. If we're taking in nutrients such as alpha GPC and genko bloba, this can help to support the way in which our brain is aging in a much more graceful way. And I've looked at the different MRI scans. I oftentimes talk about this, but the MRI scans of individuals who adhere to a Mediterranean diet have a high intake of omega three fatty acids and supplement with
genk loba on a regular basis, their brains are incredibly beautiful. And then you look at someone who's on a standard American diet, who doesn't supplement with a core multivitamin, who doesn't supplement with crill oil advanced, isn't taking the mind's synergy, and you can see the level of atrophy and the degree to which the brain can actually miss fire because all of those billions of cells are losing their capacity to properly interact because of inflammation, because of bad vascular supply.
So we have solutions to all of this, and this is why the Mind's synergy formulation would be incredibly advantageous to add in to your daily routine. And then, of course we want to boost our brain, we have to think about green tea. Now, green tea is such a powerhouse. The stuff bodies that have come out on green tea and arthritis also so incredibly impressive. And it's the way in which green tea can actually work to downregulate or
lower the a level of inflammation that occurs in the body. And so this is why when I'm helping individuals kind of design a daily supplementation routine, it's not uncommon that I will say, you know what, let's add in green tea extract or let's add in the rizvere trial max understanding the science behind how these powerhouse nutrients are working. So just kind of recap some of the things that I went over today. DGL wonderful for oral care. Can't say enough
about green tea are Krill oil advanced? Of course, if you happen to have questions for me, by all means, reach out to me Awilliams at invitehealth dot com. That's a Williams at invitehealth dot com.
