Get ready for tomorrow's Nutritional Science Today right here, right now. Hello, and welcome to Invite Health Radio. Happy Saturday morning to everyone. I am doctor Amanda Williams, Scientific director at Invite Health, and it sounds like you're in for a decent day of weather up there in New York, which is great. It's much better than what I'm dealing with here in South Florida. It is just windy and torrential downpour and it's just a it's just kind
of a hot mess down here. And it's really sad too, because this is the time of year where they do the big annual boat parades the Hard Rock Casino. They do a huge one, and I think this was going to be like the fiftieth year or something of them doing it in the winter Fest and they have like over one hundred boats that are in the parade, and it's so beautiful because you see all these big boats and they have like small boats as well too, and people on paddle boards and everybody's all decked
out for the holidays and it's really really exciting. And I mean they have different viewing areas and they sell tons of tickets and you know, people have big, huge parties and they had to cancel it. They can't even reschedule it because of permitting issues and you know, having to have all of the law enforcement involved. But yeah, so sad because it's like, what's the odds of that that we have such horrible weather down here in South Florida?
But oh well, what do you do about it? I certainly this is one of those areas where I always say, don't you know, sweat the small stuff. And there are many times where there are things that are just completely out of our control, weather being one of those, and sometimes we get ourselves just completely worked up. And during the holiday season, I focus so much on stress and how you should you know, do different practices to
manage and mitigate stress throughout the holidays. Because we know that if we have heightened amount of stress, this can actually have a really negative impact on our immune defenses. So you know, if you're feeling stressed out during the holidays, definitely stop. I invite hell talk to one of our wonderful nutritional experts and they can give you some insider tips as to what you can be doing to kind of manage that much better, because at the end of the day,
when it comes to stress management, it's very important. I did a podcast probably about a year ago now on the difference between stress and burnout, and there is a distinct difference between having chronic stress and having that then lead into burnout. We never want that to happen, and we see this so frequently during the holidays where people just you might be excited because it's the holidays, but then you just feel kind of overwhelmed in the same sense. I
talked about a study that Ohio State University. Yes I'm mentioning Ohio State on the air, but Ohio State they did a survey and they out of the folks that they surveyed, they found that two thirds of those individuals said, yeah, during the holidays, I just completely go off the rails. I stop eating healthy, I'm over indulging in bad things and adult beverages. I
stop doing my exercise routine. My sleeps out of whack. This is not good, folks, because this is what creates kind of that steamrolling effect, where then we have this little drop in our immune defenses and the next thing you know, you're at a holiday party and somebody's you know, coughing or sneezing, and you get sick. And so let's try and avoid that. Let's manage our stress better. We have so many wonderful nutrients. Healthy aine
is such a great product to turn to. That is that powerful amino acid that comes from green tea. Not only is it beneficial for helping the body release additional gabba so it keeps us in that nice, calm mindset, but it's also really wonderful for promoting healthy sleep. And I'm actually going to talk about one of our formulations today because I get quite a few questions from folks who who say, you know, I feel like I'm doing everything right.
I'm you know, eating good. I'm following for the most part, a plant based diet, a Mediterranean style way of eating. But I just I don't know, I just don't get good sleep. And there's a variety of reasons as to why people don't get good quality sleep, but it's trying to determine, you know, what is that root cause I always say, when you don't get a good, RESTful night sleep, we know the implications to that. We know that you're going to wake up in the morning and you're
going to feel like you're dragging. You're not going to feel like you have good energy, and this is going to affect everything. It can affect your blood pressure, your blood sugar levels, and then of course just how you're functioning each and every single day. You know, how effective are you at completing your task throughout the day because you just didn't get good sleep. And if we're not getting good sleep, the cells of the body don't have the
ability to actually repair themselves. So we know that when it comes to Americans and stress and coming off of your normal routine during the holidays, that's you know, been shown from that survey out of Ohio State. But we also know that when it comes to poor quality sleep, Americans are just really not
too great at getting good sleep. On the Sleep Health Organization, they actually did a nationwide survey, and it's estimated that I mean, I think it's somewhere around ninety million Americans do not get the recommended amount of uninterrupted sleep.
And that's a big problem. And you start to you can draw those connections between poor quality sleep, and then you look at all the rate of chronic disease states that are on the rise in this country from diabetes, and of course obesity goes hand in hand with that, but also with heart disease, non alcoholic fatty liver disease. All of these things can be interconnected, and
so sleep is really very important. So I'm going to talk about that today in some detail, because I do think it's an area that we shouldn't overlook. You know, you shouldn't say, well, I'm doing everything right except
my sleep. So we'll talk about that today. Just as a side note, I always like to talk about, you know, different holidays and things that are happening, and today is the National Chocolate Covered Anything Day, which I thought was kind of interesting, and I suppose it's how you approach this, you know, if you like celebrating, you know, what's happening for today, what's the holiday of today? So the National Chocolate Covered anything day.
So it made me think about this and I thought, okay, well, so long as we're not doing like bad chocolate, you know, like milk chocolates, which we know are not the best for us. But if we head over to invite health and we get the coco HX, we get those powerful flavonols from that cocoa, and we make ourselves a nice little hot cocoa drink. Maybe you put a little uh peppermint extract into that and have yourself a nice little holiday uh flavored drink, and you're getting all those powerful
antioxidants. We know the power of cocoa flavonols, and our coco X is incredibly potent. This is one of our most popular formulations for a variety of different reasons. Some people just gravitate to it because they like the taste of it. For others, they really are into the medicinal benefits of this particular product. And when you start to look at the way in which cocoa powder, and remember there are distinctions. We're not talking about baking powder that you
do for your holiday cookies. We're talking about the actual cocoa bean itself. And then when you take out the antioxidants from that. So those powerful flavionols,
this is what potentiates the whole benefit that goes along with cocoa. And I've talked about this before in the past, but they did that really large study and it was published in the Journal of Nutrition looking at the impact that supplementation of coco flavonols had on multiple cardio metabolic markers in the blood, So looking at measures for inflammation, things like sea reactive protein, seeing the improvement
in glucose levels and hemoglobein a one's see seeing improvements in your cholesterol. And so when people hear this, they oftentimes get confused and I think, oh, well, if I go out to the store and I just buy myself a milk chocolate bar, I'm going to get these benefits. Definitely not the case, folks. So we have to be able to recognize the difference between eating a candy bar or if we are supplementing with powerful cocoa flavonols, which
is what the cocoa HX contains. And there was a study that came out just in the past week looking at coco and how cocoa could be incredibly beneficial for individuals who have a low diet quality. This was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, and they found that adding coco flavinols to the diet
could boost healthy cognition among older men and women. And they said, these are in particular, these are men and women who just by you know, looking at their dietary intake, do not get adequate nutrients coming in from their diet. And this is not uncommon. Keep this in mind when you know, look at sixty seventy percent of Americans get the majority, probably seventy percent of their calories each day from ultra processed foods. Well, we know ultra
processed foods definitely are void of any decent nutrients. So it kind of makes sense if your majority of your calories that you're eating every day come from these nutrient void foods, then yes, you're going to have a low diet quality. And this particular study, it was called the COSMOS study, so I love the name of it, but it's the Coco supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study, And they were comparing the effects of daily supplementation with a multivitamin along with
coco flavinols compared to the placebo group. And so they took these individuals and then they had them do these cognitive tests, which was really very impressive. So this wasn't just like, oh well, yeah, I took this cocoa and I feel pretty good. It wasn't subjective. They were actually doing objective testing and they could see a significant improvement. And there was over twenty thousand individuals who were participating in this particular study, so it's a really large study.
But they could see how the group that was supplementing with the daily multivitamin along with that coco extract had a significant improvement in their memory and their attention. So during the holidays, like I mentioned, maybe you're feeling a little bit scattered brain. Maybe you think, oh gosh, I have all these things I have to do, still I still have to shop for different people.
Head over to Invite Health, get your coco HX, make yourself a nice, healthy little drink, and then we have many different recips too, so you can talk to one of our nutritional experts as to how you can, you know, use the coco X, but we have many recipes available
for you to get very creative with using the COCOACHX. Maybe you want to make your own little kind of macaroons with the coco X. So there's plenty of ways that you can use this particular formulation, but it definitely packs a punch, and so when you're using it, you think, oh, well, heck, this is really great for my blood pressure, my blood vessels. It's ironically very good for my blood sugar. Because remember we're dealing with
the cocoa flavanol. We're not talking about processed chocolate that has the milk, fats and the sugars added into that. That's not what we're dealing with. We're just taking the cocoa bean itself and extracting out those powerful flavanols. So you can sit back during this holiday, you can sip on your cocoa. You know, it's beneficial for that whole HPA axis, which is your hypothalmis pituitary adrenal access, So it helps us better modulate our stress response, and
we just get overall health benefits. So whether you're concerned about memory, your attention, or you're concerned about your blood cholesterol levels, you know that utilizing the Invite Health Coco HX is a wonderful way for us to achieve all of these many benefits that go along with Coco Extracts, so definitely check that product out. You can also go to our website invite health dot com and easily find that formulation. So I do need to squeeze in a quick break.
When I get back, I'm going to talk a little bit more about sleep and we have a really great formulation that zeros in on enhancing the body's ability to decompress and promote healthier sleep quality. So I'll tell you about that. On the flip side. You are listening to invite Health Radio, I will be right back. For twenty five years, Invite Health has been leading the

com and welcome back to Invite Health Radio. I am doctor Amanda Williams, and I'm going to talk about sleep. And we know that during the holidays sometimes people struggle with their sleep and then your immune system gets impacted by that, and then the next thing you know, you have the cold or you
have the flu, and you're feeling miserable and you're not too happy. So when it comes to your immune defenses, this is the time of year that you definitely want to stop by Invite hell tak to one of our nutrition experts.
Make sure that the routine that you're doing every day is the most comprehensive for your specific needs, because at the end of the day, if you have high amounts of stress, or if you have already a weakened immune system, perhaps you have an autoimmune condition, you want to make sure that you're taking the right nutrients, and we have so many formulations in our product line that are geared towards really allowing the immune system to be much more responsive in
the event that any little tiny foreign pathogen heads our way. So whether we're looking at the Immunity multi Vitamin, which is so comprehensive, that's a Jerry Hickey formulated product. And you know, Jerry loves his nucleotide complex, so he made a multivitamin that contains nucleotide. So it's an excellent addition to our product line. So we're very excited to have that, especially during cold and flu season. And then it's also partnered up with the elderberry extracts, So
the power of elderberry has been shown time and time again. So even if you do get sick, if you're supplementing with elderberry extract it definitely can help to lessen the duration of the time that you're feeling under the weather. So check that product out. But we have so many formulations. Of course,
probiotic HX hands down. You know, anytime that we include probiotic into our daily supplementation routine during cold and flu season, it's always going to be incredibly advantage, and of course when you're looking at probiotic HIX, you think of
all of the powerful benefits that go along with that. It has five different clinically studied strains of bacteria along with the prebiotics, so it has that nice little food source for those little bacteria to feed off of, and then it has those registered trademark forms of bacteria that really allow for a wonderful and enhance colonization of those bacteria into our intestines to promote a optimal immune system response. So it's just it's so great. And the formulation, like the technology to
which we use it's called mactobac. So the way that we use the encapsulation for our probiotic, and this is important because not all probiotics are made the same. So the way that we use this is to allow those bacteria to make their way through that initial part of our digestive track, which is the stomach acids. Oftentimes, if you're just using just any random probiotic that you find at you know, Duane Reads or whatnot, a lot of those bacteria
are going to die off as soon as they hit the stomach acids. And so the amount that actually makes its way into the intestines, which is where the immune system is located, is quite minimal compared to maybe what you rent on the bottle. You know, maybe it said, oh, this has you know, one hundred million or one hundred billion colony forming units. And by the time it makes its way to your intestines, how much are you actually getting? So I'm not saying that it's bad, but are you actually
getting the full effect of that? So when you're using the Invite Health probiotic checks, we use this very unique technology to assure that what's contained in that capsule, those five different strains of powerful clinically studied bacteria, actually make their way into your intestine so that they can go make a nice home and keep you healthy. So keep that in mind. So, so off to the world of stress and sleep. Now, this is a very important topic.
You know, As I mentioned in the previous segment, the Sleep Health Organization has really kind of gone through and narrowed down you know why it is that Americans struggle so frequently with getting good quality sleep. Now, I'll be the first one to admit I sleep like a rock and it's I am happy about that, obviously, but I've never had a problem with sleep, and I when I talk to folks who do, I feel so bad for them because you can see that struggle. My mom, she has, you know,
throughout the years, has had issues with getting good quality sleep. And it's for a variety of different reasons. Once again, I said, you have to look different environmental factors, you know, that is it. The sleep hygiene is your you know, bedroom to bright do you have a television on, as your cell phone going off next to your you know, nightstand, you know, every five minutes. So thinking about all these ways that sleep
can get disrupted, and also the hormonal influences. So and it's not just you know, thinking about melatonin as that primary sleep hormone. If you have thyroid dysfunction, if you have high stress, cortisol can influence your quality sleep, and of course your sex hormones. So for men and women who are going through and your pause and menopause, we can clearly see the impact that
those fluctuating hormone levels can have on the quality of your sleep. So I kind of go back to, you know, some of the struggles that my mother has had through the years with sleep, and now she's you know, in a much better spot because she's on a very regular routine. But I realize, you know, many years ago, that she was not getting good sleep. And that's what she would say, I just wake up in the
morning and I just I feel groggy. It takes me a while to really get going and kind of come to But for her, it was a you know, a couple of different things. One was clearly hormonal going through menopause,
but the other one was the racing mind. And this is what I talked to so many folks about, where they say, well, you know, I'm very tired at night, but when I try and fall asleep, it's like my mind is just continuously on overdrive and I'm thinking about all of the things that I need to do tomorrow, all the things I didn't do today, and I just can't get my mind to just kind of calm down.
And this is a big problem. So when you're looking at sleep issues, we always have to determine, you know, is their underlying health issues that are driving this, Are their hormonal imbalances that are creating this problem, or is it you know, once again, hygiene. Are there different techniques that we can do to improve upon our sleep? Is our diet creating a lot of this problem for us, so trying to determine this is what's going
to actually lead you to the path to improving your sleep quality. But we have a really unique formulation and this is called CNS Protocol three. Now, what this product actually contains is a combination of key nutrients that have all been studied and shown to be highly effective at once again targeting that HPA access,
which is your hypothalmis pituitary adrenal access. When things go haywire within that access loop, this is when you start to have problems because this is when you have a hard time managing your stress response, which in turn can then affect your thyroid function. So hence our metallic can get affected, and then in turn we can affect our sleep cycle. And so everything is interconnected, folks.
So if we're using a product such as the CNS Protocol three, so w CNS stands for Central Nervous Systems, so it's the Central Nervous System Protocol
three Roman Roman numeral three. And what this actually contains is touring glycine valerian passion flower hops and has gabba anocetol, magnesium, calcium, so a lot of these nutrients that you've probably heard of, and you think, oh, yeah, I've I've talked to a friend that uses Valerian root to help them with sleep, or I have a friend or family member who always talks about passion flower as being their go to when it comes to stress relief. Why
is that? Because these newts have been studied extensively to show how they can actually promote a healthy stress response and improve upon sleep quality. So when you're using CNS Protocol three and you take this, and you can take this during the day, folks, because this is oftentimes a question that I get, is well, if I take it during the day, am I gonna like want to fall asleep? No, because it's working within your normal circadian rhythm.
So if you take it at night, obviously it's going to be at that timing of the day where it's going to help promote that sleep quality. But if you take it in the afternoon because maybe in the afternoon you want to pull your hair out because you're stressed out, this is fine as well. And the combination of using these different nutrients together will allow the body to
stay in a much more calm and neutralized zone. And this is key because when we think about the central nervous system, we start thinking about the sympathetic oh overdrive and the lack of parasympathetic involvement in that. And I've talked about this on this program before. So you have your sympathetic nervous system and then you have the para sympathetic. Well, we want those to work synergistically together. The problem with most folks is that you were on a sympathetic overdrive at
all times, so it's pedal to the metal with no break. We need to have that breaking action. The breaking action is your parasympathetic nervous system. So this is kind of goes back to acute stress, chronic stress burnout. So when we get to that point where we have chronic stress, chronic stress and we lose that brake pedal, we can't press on that brake, then we're going to you know, build up to the point that we hit burnout.
That's very difficult to come back from. So when we're aware of these things and we say, okay, well, I know I have a lot of stress. I know that my job is stressful, I know that my home life is stressful. I know that my commute to work is stressful, whatever it may be. If we can recognize that, and we don't just accept it as normal, we say, yeah, I can see how this is affecting me. It affects my diet, you know, maybe I then, you know, go and do emotional eating, you know, self soothing
with bad foods. Maybe you recognize it because you are one of those folks where you're trying to fall asleep at night and all of these things are running through your mind, all the things that you need to do that you didn't do well enough, whatever the case may be. If you know these things, then you are one of those individuals where CNS Protocol number three would be absolutely ideal for you. We know the balance of calcium and magnesium and why
that's so important for getting good quality sleep. Also for folks who have restless legs. We know that restless leg syndrome is one of those areas of concerns when it comes to disrupted sleep quality. And when I was in medical school, I remember restless legs was just coming out. It wasn't even in the medical books when I was in medical school, but they were just really starting to talk about it, and we're all like, what in the world is
restless legs. But now I foundationally understand you know, when we have these imbalances, and if we have an iron deficiency, which is very common too. By the way, if you have low iron stores, this can be a precipitating factor for restless legs. So if you find that this is your problem, definitely go and get some blood work done, look at your iron stores, look at your ferretine level, because if it is an iron issue, you want to make sure that you're heading over to invite health and you
get our iron plus. So that product can be very helpful for folks who are having problems with sleep. And it's always interesting when I talk to individuals about that, they say, really iron for sleep, Yes, iron, calcium, magnesium, your B vitamins are very important for the promotion of healthy
sleep cycles. And then adding in these other nutrients, having those amino acids, having glycine and touring, and then also recognizing that taking a product like this that contains touring, contains the amino acid glycine, these side benefits that go along with that is incredibly impressive. So I'm gonna talk a little bit about why glycine, why touring are so beneficial, not just for promotion of kind of reducing that stress, but also for promoting good sleep quality. But
the other many things that those two amino acids are doing. But I do need to squeeze in a quick break, so stick around with me. I will be right back. You are listening to Invite Health Radio. But in any event, do take advantage of that and get that Coco HX. Remember today is chocolate anything day. Do good chocolate. Go get that Coco HX. Now back to amino acids. I
love talking about amino acids because they're so fascinating to me. They a lot of times when people think about amino acids, they think muscle building, and it's not a bad way to think about amino acids because they are the building block of our proteins. So when you're thinking way protein isolate or our plant protein powder, that's a blend of different amino acids. But then we can
look at each individual amino acid and start to recognize how they're working. Like rginine, for example, we know rgenine very beneficial for healthy blood pressure. Why because rgenine works to release nitric oxide in the body. So the more nitric oxide, the more vasodilation, hence better blood flow. So that's a great thing. But let's look at the CNS Protocol three product, because that contains two very powerful amino acids, one being glycine, the other being toring.
So glycine is a essential amino acid, and we know that it has these really strong calming properties to it, and so when people supplement with glycine, they have this really nice, balanced sense of calm which is not making you feel tired or lethargic. It's just nice calm, and that's what a lot of folks need, especially during the holidays. So it promotes relaxation. It can really enhance sleep quality without causing that daytime drowsiness, which is why
I said you can use this product during the day. If you have a lot of stress during the day, it is fine to use CNS Protocol three during the afternoon. That's completely fine. We also know that one of the side benefits that goes along with glycine is it helps with glucose metabolism, so blood sugar balance, and it's also key for our connective tissue, so we
have all of these different benefits. We start to look at all of the ways in which glycine has been studied in the Oxidative Medicinal Cell Longevity Journal. That's a mouthful there, but this particular amino acid has been looked at for all of the different ways that it can benefit us when we are taking it via supplementation, So we're looking at cardiovascular disease states, different inflammatory diseases,
including arthritis. Obviously, for those who are dealing with diabetes or pre diabetes, glycine can be incredibly supportive and of course we know that it's going to help us with relaxation and for the promotion of healthy sleep cycles. So hands
down, glycine definitely we can categorize that into the winter category. And there was a fascinating study that was done in Canada and it was actually published in the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology looking at glycine supplementation and how it can reduce oxidative stress, reducing free radicals folks in patients who had metabolic syndrome at the same time, one of the fascinating finds through this study was how much
the glycine actually improved the blood pressure readings of these individuals. So they entered into this study. They have metabolic syndrome, so they have elevated glucose, they have insulin resistance, they have high triglystrides, they have high LDLs, which is the low density lipoprotein. They have of course, problems with their blood pressure. So they thought, well, if we give them glycine, maybe this will help with the blood sugar because we know this is one of
the actions of glycine. And indeed they could see this. They could see an improvement in blood glucose, but they also found that their blood pressure had significantly improved as well. So once again, supplementation with a product such as CNS Protocol three can yield you many side benefits that you didn't even know you were gonna get. So that's a wonderful, wonderful thing. And then we
turn to the amino acid touring. Touring to me is it's so underrated because it's such a key player in facilitating so many different functions in the body. We look at touring kind of as an anti aging amino acid. We know
that touring is so important for our excitable tissues. So when we think about heart and the brain, and we can see how touring has been shown to improve different disorders when it comes to heart disease, when it comes to cognitive decline including dementia, and touring is found in nearly all of tissues, and
we know that it is incredibly important once again for those excitable tissues. So we kind of go back to that central nervous system and then we're thinking sympathetic and parasympathetic and why touring can be so helpful, and so we look at CNS protocol we say, ah, well, this is why that touring is in this because it can help with cognitive performance. So if we're feeling stressed out we have brain fog, we know that the touring can be incredibly helpful
for that. At the same time, we know touring has very powerful anti inflammatory properties to it, so if we're dealing with neuroinflammation in the brain, which can be creating problems with our stressed response or with our sleep quality. So we once again we look at this and we say, oh, well, all of this makes a whole lot more sense. Now when I look at the CNS Protocol three and I see the partnering of these different nutrients, I can see why the valerian is in this. And Valarian's been shown,
you know, time and time again. It's been used as a herbal medicinal sleep aid for hundreds of years. And in the Journal of Evidence Based and Integrative Medicine they did a meta analysis where they went and they looked at multiple clinical studies that were utilizing valerian root for sleep problems, for treating sleep issues, and they could see from the over sixty different studies that they assessed that indeed, valerian root really led to very strong health benefits when it came to
improvement on sleep quality. So definitely a product that I encourage you to check out that is the CNS Protocol three. And like I said, maybe you find yourself in that category where at night you're trying to just unwind and relax and you're like, gosh, what is wrong with me? Why can't I just relax? Taking the CNS Protocol three in the evening would be incredibly beneficial
to promote that relaxation. You're getting that magnesium, you get that calcium of course you get the passion flower and the valerian and the clysine, the tourine and the gabba, all of these nutrients that are working synergistically together to really allow you to get a much better night's sleep. And if you're using it during the day to help offset some of the negative effects of daily stress. And we know stress is definitely not our friend. So so check that product
out CNS Protocol three. We don't talk about that one often, but it is a product that I turned to quite often, and I think that is because of the fact that so many individuals reach out to us who are struggling with getting good quality sleep, and you are not alone. Clearly, we can look and we can see the the statistics. The epidemiology of bad sleep in the United States is very high. So we just have to do better.
And it's a multi pronged approach. You know, understanding you know what's going on with maybe some hormonal issues, what's going on with nutrient deficiencies. All of these things, you know, can make a difference. Vitamin D is another area. You know, if someone has insufficient vitamin D levels, this can affect your sleep. You know, we understand vitamin D is so critical to so many aspects of daily function. It's not just bone health.
I mean, we have to understand that vitamin D outside of the immune system, outside of bone health, is so incredibly important. A study just this week came out was published in the Journal of Medicine talking about how low vitamin
D levels was associated with a increase in inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease. So they could see this very high prevalence of individuals who have inflammatory bowel disease and having a concurrent insufficient vitamin D level, so whether they were truly deficient or if it was just a insufficient level. So having your vitamin D level tested. I stress this all the time because I get people who will ask me this, well, how much should I supplement with? I'm going to take
the Invite Health Vitamin D three, the three thousand I use. Should I take one capsule? Should I take two? And I always say I wish I had you know, a magic you know ball that I could crystal ball I could look into and tell you. But unless we know what your serum vitamin D level is, where is your starting point? Because there's so many factors that can affect what your vitamin D level is. It has nothing to do with your age, It has no nothing to do with your height or
your weight. There are so many other issues that can arise. Magnesium status can impact the way vitamin D is absorbed. Different medications that perhaps you are taking can impact your vitamin D absorption. There are genetic reasons you can have
a genetic mutation that impacts the way vitamin D is absorbed. But in any event, we know that it is playing a powerful role because it's technically a hormone, so it's playing a powerful role in all aspects of how we function every day, not only for our immune defenses and for the health of bone density, but for cognition, for memory, for our sleep cycle, for our metabolism, for blood sugar regulation, and of course for inflammation. So
in this study, this is what they're looking at. They're looking at individuals who have Crohn's disease alternative colitis, and they're already at a great risk for malabsorption from their foods because of the chronic inflammation and those microvilli, the little finger like projections in the intestines are just getting just beat down, so it makes it very difficult to absorb those nutrients and vitamin D insufficiency was a direct
causal link to the severity of inflammation. So once they could get these individuals onto vitamin D supplementation and start to drive those levels back into a healthy range, they started to see improvement in not only the inflammatory markers that they were testing, but in the symptomatic improvement in these individuals. So never overlook the importance of vitamin D. That's my take home message. And we have many
vitamin D formulations for you to choose from. We have our liquid Vitamin D and then we have our vitamin D capsules, So definitely stop by one of our stores or go to our website invite health dot com check out all of our vitamin D options. And actually there was a boat parade last night that I was going to go to and that got canceled because of
the weather. And then the big boat parade today, the winter Fest by hard Rock that one. It's so sad too. So I will not be out and about today because the weather's just supposed to get apparently increasingly worse throughout the day. So it's a good day to be indoors. But the bowl games are starting off, so I'm super excited. So I think there's about four or five college bowl games that are on today, so I will be
watching some football. I've been having my little football withdrawals the last week with no college football. And then of course I'm going back and forth all the time, like I really want to go to the Rose Bowl, but I'm not going to. Last year I went out to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl, only to be sadly disappointed when Michigan lost. But I would love to go to the Rose Bowl, just because I would love to go to Pasadena and see the Rose Parade. It's not even so much. I hate to
admit that it's not even so much about the game. It is my dream. It's on my bucket list, let's just put it that way. I want to see the Rose Pary. I've been watching it since I was a little girl, and I'm just obsessed with just the story behind the Rose Parade and how they make the floats, and just the time and dedication. It's such a unique parade. So I would love to be able to do that. But it's not gonna happen this year unless I change my mind. But
I don't think. I don't think that's gonna happen. So vitamin D talking about the importance of that. Remember, vitamin D has receptor sites found throughout the body, which is why it's so darn important. We should never over look why supplementation each day of vitamin D is so key. I mean myself, I use five thousand. I use a vitamin D every day to maintain healthy levels. If I were to take a thousand I use I could you know my levels will drop? I'll be down in that, you know,
close to that insufficient range. I don't want to be there. I want my vitamin D levels to always be in a nice healthy spot. And people oftentimes will ask me, well, what is considered like a good vitamin D level, and you want it to be at least fifty and that's fifty nanograms per milli later ideally seventy five, but at minimum fifty. So these are
some of the things that we should always be thinking about. So if you go in and you have your annual blood test done, do ask your doctor to test your vitamin D and they will probably look at you and say, well, that's unnecessary, and you just say, well, maybe unnecessary for you, but it's necessary for me and it's my body, so just please test my vitamin D level. These are always key things. So I want to talk about grape seed extract. Our grape seed extract is so unique.
I remember when I first came on board at Invite Health and I was going through all the different products and having conversations with Jerry Hickey at the time, and when I came across the grape seed extract and the product line, I was like, Wow, this is an incredibly high amount of OPCs, the ollegomeric pro anthocynodens compared to what I have been, you know, exposed to in the past in different you know, companies and different products, and I
thought, wow, this is really really high, and then I realized, oh, hey, this is a registered trademark form. It's called Enovida. So the Invite Health grape seed extract is such a wonderful source of powerful polyphenols that are derived from the grape itself, and when you look at the scientific research done on novida, it's so incredibly impressive. When Novita was studied in terms of managing and maintaining healthy blood pressure, they found it to be incredibly
effective. There are multiple clinical research trials that have been conducted with the Novita which is used in Invite Health grape seed extract, to show how it not only helps with the regulation of blood pressure, but how it also helps to
really tamper down oxidative stress. When you're looking at your antioxidant capacity in the blood, and when they supplemented individuals with this grape seed extract, you could see the almost instantaneous way in which your antioxidant levels started to go up. And that's very important because if we're dealing with stress, if we have environmental pollutants that we're trying to, you know, fend ourselves from, having a powerful grape seed extract is very good idea. And we know that grape seed
extract does many different things for us. When you look at the systemic benefits. Not only is it you know, circulatory health and the support of the endothelial cells. Those are the lining of your blood vessels, so it helps to protect those, but it also lowers inflammation throughout the cardiovascular system. We don't want to have inflamed vessels. Not a good idea. But we also can see how beneficial that the grape seed extract is when it comes to brain
connectivity and for the functionality of our memory and attention. So when you're using the Enoveta grape seed extract from Invite Health, you are going to get all of these wonderful powerful effects of those OPCs, and it is shown in head to head clinical trials to be upwards of ten times more powerful and absorbable than
a standard grape seed extract. So I always talk about, you know, our quality, why that matters, that Invite Health, why we follow the scientific research, why we're not just using just a standard, run of the mill grape seed extract. Why we're actually sourcing and using this particular form is
because we want you to yield those benefits. We know the science, we've seen the clinical outcomes, but we want you to be able to have those same benefits and to have a polyphenol that has over ninety five percent of those pro anthocynodins contained in that and they remain viable is very important. So definitely check out our grape seed extract. We have so many formulations that are geared towards circulatory support, whether you're looking at our veins HX or our NATO kindas.
This is another one of my favorites. I have so many individuals who have struggled with different circulatory issues. Maybe they have peripheral artery disease or chronic venus insufficiency, and they feel that heaviness that achy in their legs that's usually in the calf area. Maybe you're walking around and you just kind of feel like your legs feel real heavy. That's an indication if you haven't been diagnosed,
that there's a circulatory issue going going on. And so taking a formulation such as natokinase plus in combination with using that grape seed extract can be a really lovely one two punch to facilitate a repair mechanism. And we know that natokinase is a very nice way for us to regulate fibrinogen. If we have access fibrinogen that builds up in our system, this can lead to kind of
a stickiness of the blood. So if we have vessels that are already kind of beat up and they're shrinking down, which means we're not getting good blood flow through them, and then we complicate things by having sticky blood trying to run through those vessels, that's a real issue. So we want to be able to have those vessels start to repair themselves, improve the blood flow through
those vessels, and not have stickiness of the blood itself. So combining the at okinase along with the GrapeSEED extract is a go to that I use for so many individuals who are dealing with circulatory issues, and even in an acute situation for example, maybe you you know, have a sprained ankle. Oftentimes I'll turn to these formulations for kind of accelerating that healing process. The veins Chex is also an excellent choice. Veins Achex I turn to quite often for
individuals who deal with hemorrhoids. This is very effective. That horse chestnut that's contained in the veins hx does a superb job at helping folks who are dealing with chronic hemorrhoid issues. If you are having an acute situation with your hemorrhoids, I would advise taking two tablets twice a day for at least five days of that veins achex, so two tabs twice a day five days, and
then scale back and do two tabs moving forward. That's very important because you don't want to have kind of that waxing and waning When it comes to hemorrhoids supplementation. So veins Achex is hands down my number one go to when folks come to us and say, Hey, I'm dealing with hemorrhoids, what should I be taking? So veinschx with the horse chestnut with that vitamin C contained, and that can really make a big difference for those who have been dealing
with chronic hemorrhoid issues. And then for the blood flow issues, I will generally turn to the natokinase plus formulation along with the power of that Enovita grape seed extract that we offer. And nantokinase has been studied extensively in the setting
of chronic venus insufficiency. In the way in which the NATO is actually working is incredibly impressive, So if you happen to have questions about how you should use those formulations, you can definitely reach out to me A Williams at invitehealth dot com.
