Change can be scary and often we think it is long term. When it comes to changing your eating habits some fear may pop up because of past experiences. Maybe you worked with a coach, trainer, or just tried a random diet online that told you to cut out your favorite food. You might have fears similar to some of my clients. Thoughts like “Please don’t tell me I have to stop drinking coffee, I just can’t live without it.” The thing I want to point out today is that you’re always in full control. If you love coffee, don’t ever let anyone stop you or make you feel guilt for enjoying it. Live your life. Weight loss and living healthy don’t have to be taken to extremes. It is possible to have your cake and eat it too and the path there is intuitive eating and seeing food as abundant. Today notice these fear-based thoughts of someone taking a food or beverage you like away from you. Notice if it feels like an attack AND if it feels long term. It isn’t an attack, it is really just someone's opinion of what they think you should do for health or weight loss. Sometimes these opinions are valid and fact-based and sometimes they aren’t. Nothing is off-limits going forward starting right this moment. You may still have beliefs that carbs are bad or a food isn’t allowed because it causes weight gain but do your best to let these thoughts go and instead, begin listening to your body before jumping on board with these worries and limiting beliefs JOURNAL PROMPT: What fears and worries come up when you think about letting go of restrictions around food? HEALTHY HABIT: Chew your food as much as possible. Aim for 20 chews per bite of food! CHALLENGE: Slow down and notice Hunger/Fullness in the moment.
