On this episode I speak with William Lavinia about the social construction of gender, undergoing hormone replacement therapy, and what it’s like to experience life with high testosterone. Will not only challenges the normative notions of gender but also those of biological sex, or what some folks call sex assigned at birth. It’s a difficult task challenging the hegemonic scientific status quo while also feeling like you have to defend your identity—but this is the lived experience of many humans outside the gender binary. Will discusses hormone replacement therapy and the effects of testosterone both on the body and on behaviour.
