Episode description

On this episode I speak with Kae Tran about navigating sex with physical disabilities and what can be done in sex positivity to be more inclusive and less ableist. Kae lives with muscular dystrophy and she has recently begun doing workshops on self-love, communication, and dating for people with physical disabilities. After being featured in an article on her experiences with dating, Kae’s been requested for interviews constantly, and now she’s here for some advocacy and some self-advocacy. With physical disabilities in an ableist world, Kae examines the limitations that also exist when it comes to sex—“that’s the one thing disabled people can’t have, is spontaneous sex,” she argues. To better facilitate an inclusive sex positive world, Kae suggests more accessible spaces, like sex clubs and fetish scenes, consent with disabled folks in mind, and sex education catered to people with disabilities.
