¶ Introduction and Irish Roots
All right, lads, welcome back to Inside M C the podcast where I sit down with an amazing guest every single week. Uh it's it's a bit awkward because if you listen to next week's podcast with Gucky Uh the intro is a little more scuffed because that one was recorded before this one. Uh because post switch on flu has gotten more this guest a little bit myself. However, it doesn't matter. We're here with an amazing guest, Nominal Gravy.
Well, well, well, how are we doing, Must?
I am I'm doing splendid. How about yourself?
Well, man, doing well. The p I uh the postcon flu's starting to leave finally. I'm here, I'm alive, I'm I'm breathing, so it's fine.
Well I just wanna address the the elephant in the room. Well somewhat elephant, not Rode. Um you so so a lot of the time uh with with the podcast, there's so many people I wanna bring on and
So many people you reach out, not saying that you're one of the people who reached out, but there's so many people who reach out on a kind of jazz that I want to bring on the podcast. However, a lot of the time it's just too early, sadly, right? It just it wouldn't make any sense to bring them on. However, you fall under the category of someone who I've always wanted to bring on the podcast.
But I had to wait for the perfect moment. And I feel like after the f last few months that you've had, this is the this is a better time than any, right?
It it's it's been a couple of months, man. It's been a lot, it's been a lot and I don't know what I don't know what's happening.
before we carry on yapping about that, I always like to give the introduction for you to introduce yourself. So who are you, what do you do, and if you have a fun fact either about yourself or in general, floor's yours.
I'm nom or nominal or nominal gravy. I uh well I mean I I do Minecraft content. I've I've been here for a while. It's been a crazy couple months where things have been kind of blowing up. And I I mean I guess well, fun fact. I don't know. I've like I feel like I'm like one of the only Irish creators in this space. So like I'll take that. I can think of like a a couple others. There's there's not many and I you know what? I take pride in that. I take pride in that.
But it's really funny that I had uh obviously I have you on now and then next week's podcast is with Gucky back to back area. Sorry.
It's a great day. It's a great day.
And I guess like so since you mentioned that which is quite funny, I think I think I've I mentioned it to you before in like a random message for absolutely no reason, like literally no context behind it as I scrolled up for our DMs. Um I'm also Irish, so Oh that's a fun
When when did that DLC drop? Hold on.
So I'm not so it mine's mine's a weird one, right? I so I was born in England, born born British. Um however Uh I was born in two thousand and three. So that was the last year that if you had Irish relatives but you were born in England or a different country, you could get an Irish passport. So my dad's full Irish. Um
That's a thing. I thought it was always if uh if like your grandpa if your grandparents or great grandparents were Irish, you could get our citizenship. I that's that's what what I've been told for like my whole life.
as I'm aware uh no I not uh so no sorry, specifically Irish passport is what I'm talking about, sorry.
Oh okay.
After two thousand or four I think it was, I I I did a bit of research when I was renewing my passport that you could only get an Irish passport if you was an Irish citizen for like five years or someone on those lines or you were born in Ireland. Um however since I was born in England but because my dad's for Irish, I was able to get an Irish passport. So I don't actually have a British passport, I have an Irish one.
Oh, let's go. Okay, that's sick.
So yeah, fun fun thing as you know when you go to Europe when everyone's stuck in the queues, we just get the
Yeah, so It's so good. This TwitchCon I was able to just fly through everything and all of my friends were pissed it way. I'm not waiting like all my American friends getting through uh security. I was waiting outside for like an hour.
me in Paris I went with my partner Chloe and she has a British passport and um when we did the day trip to to uh Twitch on Paris, literally I went straight through security after Eurostar and had to wait like five minutes for her to get through and I went, Are we serious?
Come on.
No but it's it's great as well'cause living in England'cause as you know with with with with that is like you can work anywhere in Europe without any
Okay.
Whereas obviously if I had a British passport it becomes a little bit more than a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah, random DLC drop. Yeah.
Yeah.
I do say I kinda wish I was for Irish because I really like it. Like w every time I go over I just love it there. Um my my family's from Limerick, so But it's kind of like off uh out of limerick, but it's funny'cause we had this exact same com I had this exact same conversation with Gucky at which before, which comes out next week. So people are gonna listen to the same story twice, but like it's fine, it's whatever.
¶ Unraveling Nominal Gravy's Name Origin
Um right, nominal. Now now that I've dropped the DLC Ali. How did you get your name? Ooh.
Okay, so that what what what a one to start with. Because here's the thing. I can't exactly answer that, but I can tell you a very funny story uh applied to it.
Go for it.
So I got my name whenever I was uh pretty young. This is the uh uh there was like one other name that I went by on the internet for like a while by like The ages ago. But this has been my username since I was like I wanna say twelve, right? It's been a long time. I uh got my username and there was a reasoning behind why I chose the name. There was a whole thing. But the reason why I cannot tell you the exact story is this. Since I was 12, this has been my longest.
Standing bit. This has been my longest standing bit. Since I was 12 years old, every single time someone has asked me that question, I've told every single person a different story, except for one person.
When you choose LG, you're not just getting a TV, you're getting more of everything you love: more entertainment, more innovation, more control. LGTVs are built to do more, with O LED and QNED displays that deliver breathtaking color and contrast, smart AI-powered features that make Streaming, gaming, and searching effortless. And ultra-slim designs that turn your screen into a statement piece. It's performance you can see.
Technology you can feel, and reliability you can trust. Get more out of every moment at home with LG.
Who knows the real reason? And one day I since I was twelve, I've had the thought of if I do this, if I do this, if I tell every single person a different reason and then tell one person a thing. If I ever end up in a situation where content creation works out, I could get all of these people or as many of these people as I can in a room.
And go. One of you know the origins of my name. You need to figure out who it is. If you get it wrong, you'll never know. But one of you know, and then just leave them in the room and see what happens. Um, that's a real thing I've done since I was twelve.
That's so cool.
I still know the person who n who knows the real story, so I mean maybe I will do that one day.
Can I so can I can you give me a story? I'm happy to cut out the podcast if you want, but I'm kinda curious as to what story I
Oh, the what the real story or like makeup around?
You don't have to. Well, it depends. It depends. You want me to cut out?
I mean I I don't know man, I I it's a it's it's a close cap secret to me. It's a close cap secret to me. I don't know if I can I don't know if I can divulge that one even off.
But even if you made a made up one, the what I have to cut it out?
No, well I mean it's definitely the completely real story is that I one hundred percent was just in a in a shop. Up and I saw an off brand uh gravy called nominal gravy and I was like, Whoa, that's a name. That that's definitely the real reason and not a lie at all.
Um I'm I'm just googling if this is a real thing. I just have to, right?
Maybe I mean who knows? Who knows?
But now you have to get every single podcast listener into into that exact same room.
Mm-hmm. I mean I well uh we'll figure it out. That's a leader me problem.
Normal gravy. Normal gravy, often referred to as norm, is a popular content created in a streamer known for its variety Minecraft content. Never mind, then then I guess I'll never know the answer.
You'll never know. Well one day, one day I will get like a big gro'cause I I still know like a lot of the people. Uh like even like the original people back when Rabbs like a kid that I told like those two and uh one day I'll reach out to them and be like, Do you remember what I told you?
about like the origin the origin of like my name and they'll be like yeah I mean I hope and then I don't know. I d I think that would be such a funny bit. It's been my longest going bit. I will see it through one day.
¶ Nominal Gravy's Content Creation Journey
Well I guess on that same thing here and hopefully we get the we get a real answer for this. Um how did you get into content creation?'Cause you said you came up with the name at twelve and obviously you stuck with it all these years. So how did you get into kind of where to where you
Well honestly I d it's kinda I was very much that kid growing up where you got answered the question of like what do you want to do when you grow up and I just never had a normal answer. Um actually honestly the original I the I literally like kid me got asked that question. And the first thing was voice actor. I d I was like a child. I don't know where I pulled voice actor from in like
Two thousand and ten? Like I I don't have a clue. Um but beyond that, then I started getting into YouTube and I started watching like Jacksepti, for example. And can I ever since then I knew I wanted to do content creation stuff. Um a lot of people from the beginning. I w I remember watching Yogg's cost a lot growing up as well. Um Jack Sebakai is definitely the guy that I watched growing up a lot though. Um
I was a very, very early like sub-to-jack actually. I remember actively being sat done like on my little laptop. Whenever Jack uploaded his 3,000 subscriber special in like his old cabin that he used to be in. Um so I mean, no, honestly, probably all the way back then, like that was sort of my first. just inspiration uh and started watching YouTube as a kid whenever I probably shooting dove. Um I think I just always like the idea of doing creation and doing that sort of thing more long term.
And now you're on the Inside MC podcast today. Yeah.
I'm I'm here. I'm I'm I'm ready to go.
¶ Favorite Content Moments and Community
I wanna I wanna minus the last three months'cause we'll get into it later. Um and it just mainly'cause it is an easy answer and I want to avoid the What's been your and I'm gonna rule out MCC Rising as well actually'cause I feel like that could also be another easy answer. Unless unless it isn't, then go for it and use it. But what's been your favourite like moment in content creation?
Ooh, excluding the last three months on Rising?
Uh yeah, I mean you can include rising if that really is. But yeah, we we exclude the last three months. The last few months is really easy on.
Yeah. Well I mean if rising is in there, I mean it has to be rising.
I'm thinking.
Yeah. Well, so I mean I'll I'll have like t I I can actually answer this in two different in two different parts. Um so by far, I think even in comparison to the last three months, I've done there's been a lot of like amazing things, but rising will always have like a really, really special place in my heart because I met so many of my like really, really good friends through Rising. That's where I met like Forcy, for example, who I would consider one of my best friends.
Um, I met so many amazing people through Rising that I'm still massive friends with today. Outside of rising, uh, my favorite bit of content that I've done outside of rising and outside of the past three months. Probably a series I did called Soul Hunt, uh that I did with a big group of friends. Uh which again, similar sort of reason to rising uh of that group. I I was always f I was friends with them before we did the project. And then we did the project and they've just been some of the like

Best friends I could ask for uh since then. Um and it it's it's been amazing. It's been good. I'm uh for me a lot of the time creation is only as good as the people you do it with. So projects like that where I'm able to meet amazing new people and get as close to them as possible, that's kind of what is important to me more so than anything.
Said just a deep one apart.
Right. Yeah. So yeah, I mean Rising or Soul Hunt. Those are like but minus the all the craziness of the last three months, those two definitely stand out the most to me.
this to people in the past and it's like and it's it's so true. It's uh At least it's true to me. Is that with with content creation, I think it's very much about who you like surround yourself with. Obviously, like you can have your friends. I have like for example, I have two different friends, all right? One of them is uh like very passionate about content creation.
But it's also very like finding it very hard to kind of do it or like get started with it because they have all these ideas but they don't know what to do with the ideas. Um then I have another friend who's also quite passionate about content creation hasn't got crazy ideas but is consistently streaming and doing content and doing this and doing that, right? albeit not revolutionary, but they enjoy doing it. And I think just having that that them friendship
I kind of obviously lean on the one who's kind of doing content creation more. It's so helpful when trying to grow yourself. Like if you surround yourself with people who are equally as passionate and equally want to do well, then it's gonna motivate you to do that exact same thing, right?
Loving the stuff that you do and being around people who love it just as much as you do will help you so much more than any video idea concept or anything like that.
¶ The MCC Rising Experience and Impact
Since you touched on it, I wanted to talk about M C C Rising. Uh you are like you must be the twentieth or twenty fifth guest I've had on who has been in M C C Rising.
My resin goats.
Well I have actually had your teammate Wade Box on the podcast in the past.
Love that guy.
Love that guy. He's great. Um tell tell me about that. I I guess I'll I'll build on some questions, but I want to hear if you have anything to say about it first.
Oh, just rising in general?
Just in general yeah, I I have some questions but I feel like that'd be easier to say if I build on what
I mean it's uh it w it's just a d insane part of my life. Uh weirdly enough, without getting like too uh too into it, that was a very, very volatile uh time in my life for me. So there was a lot of ups and a lot of downs, but I could have picked a better group of people for Resing. Um, I actually originally was meant to be on a different team for Resing. Um and then that team fell apart. And about three days before applications closed, I sat down and I read I got a Google Doc.
And written down a name of just a bunch of friends. And then went through that like entire list and was like, who do I think would work really well together? Who do you think would be a really fun team? Who do I think is like what Nox could be looking for? Who like am I comfortable with and would work well with each other? And then I ended up me, weird bucks, Nomad, Chaos.
Um, and then we ran that team. I think we went and did a uh we tried to do like a staged recording of like, oh, what do we want to do for our application? What do we want to do for all this? And then I think we were trying to come up with like some formula of like, oh, what do we want to do? We want to like script it.
And while we were doing that, we were just kinda like goofing off building a stage and like rage baiting Wade Bucks. While we were doing that, we kinda realized wait, this should be our application. Like uh us just goofing around trying to do the application should be the application. Um, and then we ended up doing that, and then the rest is history, I guess.
And it worked.
Uh weirdly n okay, actually no. I think our application was pretty uh w I think on like the back end, uh, from like the like the people going through the applications, I know a lot of them really liked our application. Our allegation didn't really get much like traction outside of that though. We were actually, I think in Rising 2, uh the smallest like creator group to make it into Rising.
Sorry, no I should.
Far, I'm pretty sure.
I meant sorry, as in not traction wise, as in how many views you got, I mean as in like the people who did see it, it was like a lot of positive.
Oh yeah, yeah. No, everyone was like lovely. Yeah, no, everyone was lovely w uh during Rising, especially like whenever like After we got in as well and everyone was going back and like looking into stuff and like hanging out in the practice streams, like yeah, the the Lame Lama team back then got so much love. It was it was really nice to see.
¶ Speculating on MCC Rising's Future
Do you think they'll do another rising this year? It's been two years since the last one.
See, I am I'm not sure. I I'm always I always love to see more risings, but I I think if there's a rising four, I would love to see it. I would love to see the what creators get the chance. I would also love to see like a rising all-stars.
I have no idea. I have no idea if anything like this will ever like happen. I would love to see like a rising all-stars or like a rising reunion event. I think would be awesome. Um I don't know. A rising four would be sick though. I would love to see it, but I I don't have no idea if it will happen or not.
I think the only problem with like a a rising all stars and a or a rising reunion is I I agree. I think it'd be amazing. So this isn't me being against the idea, I'm just expressing what I think might go wrong with it. It's like firstly it's getting in contact and wanting to like the people to come back. Uh the only the best way it'd work is if you keep the teams the same, and a lot of that is gonna be like hard to do. And also with rising.
I feel like it would be better if it was mixed themes.
I think yes, it'd be cool.
I think it would be cool if every team of four they do

To uh well I obviously they're wouldn't be able to do this like to every single team, but I think a really good formula for at least some of the teams would be like you get Raising one, two, and three. You get one person from raising one, one person from raising two, one person from raising three, and put those three people on a team with a canon roster. Um, or like just like a sub-in. Uh, and then you make a team out of that. I think that could be a really, really cool like event.
Or what if they do a rising four and then you can do one from each rising then?
Yeah, that no I I mean I'm here for it. I love Samuel Res and people.
How do you I guess I guess obviously this isn't your job, I'm just curious if you have an idea. I know we're just spitballing, so it's fine if you don't. Yeah. How would you go about deciding who's in it? Right. Yeah, like in in the rising reunion and how'd you like'cause obviously there's so many people involved. How'd you go about
See I've God knows. Honestly, I mean I'll model the Well I mean obviously I don't know like what Knox crews like development stuff is there, but I mean my my best guess is that it wouldn't actually be as hard as You would think because I mean there are a lot of people from the rising uh kind of groups that don't do content anymore. Um or have like stepped back or like are doing other things. So like I feel like it would be easier to like look at
Who from the different rising groups are still doing content, are still in the space. And then you can just kind of yoink. Um and then again, MCC have a massive roster full of awesome people that they could always just fill the gaps with. Try and I highly doubt even if they don't want to take people from the main roster, it's not like there aren't many people that wouldn't jump at the chance to do MCC because I mean it's fun, it it's awesome.
there's also people in the main roster who were in rising as well, so yeah. I guess it works out. No, I I just think like, you know, I I when I did it like back to back years, it was cool, but I think doing it every two years was so much better. It like builds that hype, it builds that want for it.
I agree. I I I did originally think there would be one this year, so I mean we'll see. We'll see.
I mean I've prod I've not to not to big myself up here, but I'm gonna do it anyway. So yes to big myself. I've predicted all the last free risings. Um so if I had to make a prediction, I'd say it's coming back this year. But obviously, and to be very clear to anyone listening, nominal doesn't know the answer. So this isn't me like so don't take whatever we're saying we got. Um but both of our predictions is they'll be returning, but that doesn't mean it's gone. So don't tell you.
For sure. I found it really funny, like just because I was in Rising 2 and like I talk to the rising people, anytime I say something about rising, people are like, he knows! He knows! I'm like, no, no, I d I do not in fact work at Knoxcrew. I I do not know. Uh
So you're telling me that by winning rising that doesn't give you all the insider scoop?
I don't think so. I don't think so. Or does it? Maybe I'm just hiding. Who knows? Who knows?
How did that feel winning? Mental. Oh.
Oh insane. Yeah, like still one of the mo like highest moments of my life. Like a the a rush of adrenaline was insane. Uh yeah, honestly undescribable that winning rising all the way back then. It it it's crazy. I mean that was what three years ago?
I still actually have the coin behind me right now. I have uh in like my setup in my room I have a little like shelf designated to l uh rising. Because I I mean I've said before it's it's really an important kind of part of the journey to me. So I have uh the coin and then the note.
that uh MCC give you for winning. I have those framed and then I have a little uh Polaroid photo of my rising team whenever we all met up at TwitchCon um on on a little shelf. It's a it's a really important like time for me. Um so I don't know I I'm I'm happy that it's It's immortalized over there.
I had a uh I had an MCC MCC coin from Pride like maybe twenty-two I think it was and I moved out recently and I just can't find it anywhere. I it's it's in here. It's here somewhere in the house.
You'll stumble across it one day.
Yeah, yeah, it'll be we're one of those things where like I'd like you said, I'll just be doing a moving something and be like, Oh, you're under there. What the heck? Do you think um I know you said I know you've already mentioned it, but I I am just gonna How big of an impact do you think win it getting into firstly, I assume also winning rising had Like not just your mental with content creation, but like content creation as a whole.
I mean it isn't uh it genuinely isn't comparable. So I mean what Harav described it before of like obviously whenever you're doing an MCC or you're doing a rising in particular, uh you're a smaller creator and then that comes with like a viewership boost and all that sort of stuff. That isn't
a renewable thing. Like every single person who's done resin can say this. Like whenever you are doing practice streams or you're doing the event, you'll probably go live the day after and you'll be back to like your normal like community, which is awesome. You should value your community more so than a random boost from an event. The thing with rising is the people you get a chance to meet through it is
Insane. Um, how I've always like described it was before MCC Rising, I thought I was like in the Minecraft community. I was like in the Minecraft like creation sphere. And then I did MCC Rising and it felt like moving from like swimming and like A cup to getting dropped into the ocean. Like I I realized there was the event scene, there was like
so much more stuff that I just had absolutely no clue about uh back then. And then I got a chance to meet amazing people who were like, Hey, there's these cool things. And then and then a lot and then a lot can happen more from that. But yeah, I mean that's definitely I would say the biggest part like of rising is getting to meet so many like people who are doing s and wanting to do similar things to you. It really opens your eyes.
What I find really interesting as well is like it's not even that in it's not even like it was handed to you. Like you actually had to go through and make an application. You had to come up against thousands of other applications.
right and your team will accept it. So I when I've I've seen in the past so not not about you specifically just seeing people in the past saying like oh MCC rising is such a handed boost which is true like it is is a really cool opportunity but at the same time you have to get accepted to be given that
It's a handed boost. I mean I don't uh a handed boost doesn't feel like a right way to say it but like it's a boost in the sense of like yeah while you're doing while you're do like as I said, while you're doing rising stuff, you're gonna get a big viewership boost the same way you will on Twitch or on platforms whenever you're doing something like that.
But I mean for me, like people like this all all this all these stats are public. They can go look at it. For whenever I did uh Rising 2, whenever I was in Dodgeball, I think My viewership hit like one point two thousand or something, which is insane. And then you look at my s like it like a week after MCC, I went back to my twenty viewer average for the next like two or three years until Bonnerfall.
Um so it's like a as much as people think it's like, oh I get into rising and then suddenly I'm a massive creator. That's not that's not the case. That's not how that works. Um, it's just not how that works at all. But again, as I said, the majority and the best thing from the rising experience is the people you meet. Still met so many of my like best friends through that experience.
I've always said it anyways, you shouldn't want to get into rising to like become famous or get cloud. You should
Not again at all.
Because it's a a bloody amazing experience.
Yeah, and it's just it's so much fun. It's so much fun.
Especially the I the practice. Like I just I've I know they've changed it now, which is like heartbreaking. I always wanted to play that Ace Race. Whenever I watched I was like I so wanna play
I missed. I miss it. I I I finally got a chance to do the new Ish risk course. And like the new Ish Risk course is like it's okay, but it's not the same. It's not the same. Yeah, I miss the old one.
¶ MCC Live at Twitch Rivals Experience
Well you've done a perfect transition for me there as you know, we've swinged my MCC Rising, but you played in the newest one at Twitch Rivals.
Yeah, it was oh god. M MCC is always fun. Playing in front of that many people is insane. The energy from the MCC rivals it was it uh genuinely indescribable. It's crazy.
I'm just curious because obviously I was there in person so I couldn't like look myself. How many how much was you averaging?
Um I actually have no idea, if I'm being honest. I I try not to look at my stats like all too much. Um, if I had to guess, probably around like maybe six hundred and then uh around the same as rising like six hundred, maybe it went to like a thousand something during dodgeball. Um
But this time Dodge Bow wasn't as as good, was it?
Oh the French killed me. They had me dead.
Early like fairly e uh fairly early every round, didn't you?
Yeah, I f I found it funny that Shadun actually like I I went up the Shadun like after Bubba San obviously like congratulations for for the win because I mean the the team played really, really well. Like obviously there's no like saltiness there, but I found it really funny. I went up If Shadunna hug was like, Hey congrats, he was like I'm so sorry we w we went for you.
I noticed it. I've played two MCCs, I've been in Dodgeball twice and in neither time I've like been able to play dodgeball because I just get insta every run.
You got the uh you got the wolfy treatment.
It's rough, man.
The Samuel treatment technically as well. Like both Wolf and Samuel they all they both got targeted in their dodgeball games and then you
I guess only what happens with uh with MCC. I mean it makes sense. Like you you know you want to go after although I find it funny, like I I definitely got targeted a lot in Dodgeball, but again, as that's hard should be. But I mean Cam was the one that was playing out of his mind this MCC. I I I was not even the best player on that team that time. Techno. Uh I got second uh I got second and div on the team. Cam got first. Tom went out of his mind.
I think so, yeah. I think so. I think it was third. He he played insane.
I know you mentioned it there about being in front of a big crowd, but like hi how how uh uh even just to build up'cause we got to meet very briefly at Twitter Song, so I understand you were very, very busy both days. We'll talk about the other thing after this.
But like MCC specifically here, like how was that kind of whole process from I I like obviously I don't want you to share the inner details because it's mostly private, but even from like getting the invite or finding out you're in it and then like then showing up and Like just any anything you can give me, I'm I'm interested to hear about.
I mean start to finish insane. Like obviously there's like the community aspect and like the people who were like nice enough to like come up and say hi and stuff after before MCC. Like like every single part of the process was ridiculous. Um in terms of like Finding out about it. Uh Scott is an evil, evil man. And uh so I mean I knew I had like a hunch that MCC was happening live again because I mean it happened the past two years.
I was like, I th I thought about it. I messaged Scott and was like, hey, if this is happening, I would like absolutely love the opportunity. Whatever. Like the the same thing like every content creator has done. Just of like, hey, this is a cool thing. You do cool stuff.
If I ever like look like I fit, I would be done. And then I leave it at that. And then I think there was one day me, Scott, and like a bunch of other people, uh, or actually no, what Scott actually wasn't even there. It was uh I think me and Calm. Me, Cam, I think infinite drift.
And like a couple of people were doing a stream on it MCCI. And we were talking about MCC Live last year. Um and I brought up the fact of uh I'm I'm I think this is like publicly known, but a lot of the time at TwitchCon, the rising group of people actually helped test the MCC lives
That's how I...
Yeah. So like the day before MCC Live normally happens, you get like a big group of the rising people who come in and help like test the games to make sure everything like runs properly. I was I was invited to do that last year. The test was happening the day before I landed in Rotterdam and I was like so I never got a chance. Yeah, I think I think it was the Thursday uh last year.
Um, but uh yeah, so I didn't get the chance to like test and like I was talking about that on stream and that sort of thing. Little did I know Scott heard me, uh like was in my chat and uh That sort of thing. And then, like, a couple like days later, it turned out they were getting people for MCC Live. Scott messages me and be and said basically sends like,
Oh, I heard you didn't get a chance to test last year. Oh, hiccups are killing me right now, sorry. Um he messaged me and was like, Oh yeah, I heard you didn't get a chance to test last year. I was like, Yeah, man, I landed the day after. It's like really it's unfortunate, but hopefully I can get a chance to test this year. And he goes
Oh yeah, I mean I would love to have you in for testing. Are you available on like this date? And I was like, mm, I saw the date and I was like, that doesn't look like a testing date, Scott. That doesn't look like a testing date. What's that? And he's like, Well, I can't get you in for testing, but do you wanna play? And then I just proceed to Yeah. Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok
Ha ha ha ha.
Uh, so yeah, I mean that like amazing experience from like the beginning. Obviously MCC itself being insane, everyone backstage, all of the Knox crew members all being absolutely lovely. Um the two main ones I got a chance to like talk to a lot this year being Avendil and Noctis, who I love them both. They're awesome. Uh yeah, the entire MCC experience, the people, the environment, everything about it is insane. I want to do it again so bad.
MCC is really cool. And obviously they have Pride coming up as well, so that'll be a good thing.
Yeah. I can't wait to see who gets announced. I'm I'm always I mean not the not to go back to rising, but like I I always I'm so so happy whenever I see like more rising people uh joining the rosters for events. Like we have a Discord called Rising Graduates. Which is after every rising, the new rising people get added to rising rods. Oh. Every single time a rising person gets uh invented into like Canon MCC, everyone's just like, yes, another rising person, yeah.
It's al it's always cool to see everyone like hyping each other up.
sense though like you know at the end of the day it's it's a really cool opportunity but if you do well and it kind of relates into being involved in a in a like a quote unquote no it's not quite quote a main roster event even if it's like someone like Pride which is non-canon it's still it's still main I'd say it's like that's a pretty cool opportunity
Technically you've still never done a
That I hear.
I was gonna say I'm pretty sure like whenever it's like you come to the terms of like non canon MCCs, I'm pretty sure even Rivals isn't considered a canon. So like I've I've never done a canon MCC still.
With the new format it's a bit weird, right? Because
Oh true, they did change it, yeah.
Technically like anything is canon now. Yeah. But I get what you mean. In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't origin like it wasn't it wouldn't originally be a canon event. It wasn't even you from Rising. I think you were the only one from Rising 2, and that's of course you count Wade Bob. as a cast star. But it was like uh K E was in, uh May was in.
Kitty was in three. Uh Meg was also in three. No Pyro.
I don't know. Muddy Muddy again. Oh. Oh yeah.
No, there's a lot th I I feel like there's a there's so many rising people it's so easy for some of us to slip through the crack.
Bye bye.
¶ Mid Offs Live and Panel Stage Presence
Talking about MTC and Twitch and all that kinda jazz. You also were quite busy on uh Saturday as well.
Yeah, the Mid Offs live. That was a lot. That was a lot. Uh insane to think about the fact that it I mean technically was I think like if we're talking in a technical sense, the first kind of Minecraft esports like official Minecraft esports the Minecraft offensive which is insane insane to think that like I helped out with a pre-show for Minecraft live as well. It was it was so much fun. Granted
I d I I did kinda get ruled, John A did absolutely destroy me first round. Not much I can really do whenever uh his P B is like eight minutes faster than me and he PBs. on the stage. I was like, well, you know, but hey, look, I tried my best. I mean, that first round I did, I think I was also on PBPS, but no, it was so much fun. It was so much fun. Like again, I also feel like uh doing mid-offs took away like any nerves that I had for like doing stuff in front of
stages. Um, which honestly I wasn't as nervous for as I thought. I thought like that doing stuff on a stage in front of like that many people, I would have been like wrecked with nerves. Weirdly enough, I I've I don't like I don't know how you feel about like
Uh walking and like talking in front of like a lot of people. There was a weird sense of like calm being on a stage in front of that many people. I was expecting to be absolutely riddled with nerves. It was weirdly calming. I don't out of grit time.
I I don't know if I don't know if you when you said about a how I feel'cause you know, but I've I've had a panel two years in a row now. Um and like this year's panel was great. People have told me I did a really good job, but like looking back on it, I'm not as happy with how I was because since I pitched the idea in January to Twitch
I like slowly over the month kind of got like less and less involved in the event scene. So when it came to the panel I was like this is I can still talk about it, but I don't really know I'm not as involved or like loving for it as much as I was back in January. Um so it's a bit of a weird one to talk about. But I I think I still did it right. But last year's panel when I was talking about organisations'cause obviously inside MC
I was like I like it was yeah, I was like d it's it was weird because I was like people were like, Oh you were so nervous on the build up. I was like, I wasn't nervous about to run on stage, I was nervous about no one showing up and then once like the entire room filled out and then some, I was like, Wow, this is like great. And when it came to
Do all of the Minecraft rooms get so much love, it's insane.
Oh, a hundred percent, yeah, exactly. And that like yeah, I know I agree. I just but some of the like being on the stage, being in front of like people, I just i if the thing is I I like yourself and I I imagine it's just like yourself, I haven't even asked but you'll be able to answer.
is um I I want content creation to be a full time gig. I've wanted it for the last three or four years and I I ha I'm working towards it and I think that's TwitchCon was like the best boost I've had to get there. Um but Like see standing on like being on that stage was like this is it was a taste of what it would feel like if I was to do something like official like I guess like mid-offs or MCC or something. It's like it's like a test run, it's like this is great, I love this.
I I get what you mean though. It feels very calming. It's weird.'Cause like even if they're de not there for you, they're there for you.
Mm, I get what you mean. Yeah, I mean I I I see I did the Bunafel Punnel this year as well.
Yes, yes.
Which is a is a of course like a similar sort of panel experience and like I don't know, like for me with that one, obviously it's like a project I hub was working very, very closely with and that sort of thing. Uh Owen and Apo are mainly the ones hosting uh that panel. I was just lucky enough to be there. But like it's just subtle like little things of seeing that many people in a room for a project that I worked on is
Insane.
It was an exceeding experience. Also, May getting everyone in the room to chant We Kill Nominal Gravy was an experience hearing like a couple ho like a hundred people. Shout that at me while it was was something. Thanks, my Mises. Appreciate it. Um, no, I I get it though. Like it is, it's a it's crazy. It is it's a wild experience.
We'll get back into talking about our panel in a second, because obviously it's gonna transition to something else. That that's why I wanna transition back away from it very quickly before we do. Um weird hot take that you might agree with or might not have ever thought about. You were talking about how like getting mid-offs on the first day kind of helped with MTC, right? And this is might be something that you haven't even ever thought about, but it's like a hot take that I've just thought of.
Again spitball. Could like going out in the first round of mid offs have helped with like M T Cause you've already lost, alright? You've already you've already lost live that weekend. So like when you go into MCC, like you're not as worried about losing or doing bad because you've already experienced that the first day.
Honestly, uh they're they're so like separate for me. Like I don't really think one affected the other. Like if I made so real, it was an amazing experience even just doing the one. I would have loved to do multiple uh runs. But I don't really think losing mid-offs early mid MCC easier in that sense because they're just they were so separate.
it in my brain. Um and again, I wasn't even playing MCC competitively. Um like I I I was I I was just having a blast the entirety of MCC. Um also the unfortunately for me, the roster of games we had might have been the worst collection of games. for me personally. Um so I I don't know. I I feel like I mean I if I I if I can go to your hot take with a responding hot take, I think if you go into MCC as it being a competitive event, you're doing MCC wrong. You're playing it wrong.
You're not there for the right reason. But uh MCC is so much fun. It's such a good experience in the hangout, whether it's like you're hanging out with friends during the event or you're meeting new awesome people. There are so many more ways to enjoy playing an MCC than to be sitting and Try harding the event. Um, I think there's a Tam in place. I mean, I I love Ishrus. I think I would definitely like.
like try whenever Istrius like comes on or something like that. But I don't know. I I think what they're they're very, very separate in my brain of a competitive event versus an event I'm doing to like put on a show. So I would s I would say no. I would say losing early in mid-os didn't really affect the mental for MCC because I they're two very different situations for me.
I think um as I mentioned there we've kind of losing love for the event scene. It's because like I played in Cube Champs the other day and it was great, don't get me wrong. But like at the same time, because I'm in barely any events as it is and I barely play any events, like I maybe play once a month and it's cube champs. When I'm playing an event and it's full of people who have played events
Consistently and are like try harding. It just makes the experience because I'm not that good at my I don't play Minecraft, I play MTSR, but that's why like I don't play like PvP or anything like that. So I'm going to these events.
looking to have a good time and just getting clapped every single time. And that's why I feel like if I ever got the opportunity, I would love MCC because like I'd wanna I'd try, I wouldn't try hard, I'd try like you like you would in any event to try and win. But I would just prioritise like holy shit, I mean MC.
Joey like that that would be like my biggest priority is just having fun and being silly goofy. But like I can't do that in like goof championships because or like anything like that because these events
Yeah,'cause events similar to this, like I'm saying and again this is nothing against people, so it's not a call out, I'm just speaking out loud. It's like some people I see playing like three events in one weekend and two events in a weekend after I'm just like, What? Yeah. Like I play once a month, once every two months if I'm lucky. Oh sorry
It's it's rough. It it can't be rough. Like whenever it comes to the competitive aspect, there are a lot of people who are very, very competitive. Like I'm very competitive by nature. Uh but like whenever it comes to the event scene, I very much
got away from that. Like I I realize the events I have the most fun in are the ones where I'm just like goofing off and not trying to do well. I feel like the second that I have like har I like it I feel like there was like one time, like I I think like two years ago, year and a half ago maybe, where I was getting to like the mindset of how much fun I would have an event would
would purely dict would purely dictate like would be dictated by where I am on the end div board. And it was like that's not how I want to play events. That's not how I want to enjoy like that side of the community. Um and then like since then I've just kind of been having more fun. Like it's been, you know, kinda into like the rising mentality or like the MCC mentality of how they do things of like in my brain now it's so much more about putting on like a show and having fun than doing well. Um
I know I'm the type of player that like if I really wanted to, I could probably do really, really well in some events, but I don't carve enough. I really don't. Okay.
Yeah. Well to transition back in now, you mentioned about the the banaful panel. Uh so before we talk about Banafle itself, how did the Banafle panel come to be?'Cause obviously there's a lot of people in Banafall, lots of choices. Any like again it isn't a bad thing, but was there a specific reason as to why it was you or was it just
¶ Bannerfall SMP: Character and Community
How it went.
Uh yeah, actually. So on on Bunnerfall and how Pao kinda do things, they wanna be as far and as possible. One thing I will give like all the credit in the world to Pao for is at least in my experience they've been so good with communication, um, start to finish from anything I've worked with them on. Um so from the very, very beginning of
uh Bannerfall, it was said that they wanted to put in for a panel. Um how they ended up doing it is obviously Apo and Owen are always going to be in the panel. I mean they're the owners, they're they're Of course they're gonna be there. Um and then there's gonna be a couple other people who are gonna be joining. Basically, everyone who was on that panel are the people with the most streams on Bannerfall. Um, so I I believe I had the most.
streams, like the most individual streams on Bannerfall. I think then Forcy was after me, then Kitty, then Mei. Um so that's where those people came from. Um and then obviously Apo and O and themselves. Yeah, I mean that's why that that was the roster for the panel. Um it was the people who were the most active. Um which still insane to me I had more streams than Forse whenever he was doing a subathon throughout the entire
Ha ha ha.
I like Bannerfall, man. I it was a great time. Um, but no, I mean that's where everyone on the panel came from. I think we ended up having like a really good group of people though. It was so much fun. So much fun. And then again seeing the community rock up, I mean there were a lot of people in like
Like the audience. I know in the like video on Twitch for people who obviously weren't there live weren't able to see it as much, but the amount of people like in the crowd who had like cosplays of people's characters and that sort of thing, it was it was so cool to see the community reception of
Yeah, wasn't someone cross playing as you?
There were uh um multiple. There were multiple people cosplaying as uh Bonnerfall Nom, which was insane. A lot of them were really, really good too. I saw one It's insane seeing a character of mine get like picked up by people and be like this one. This one. This is the one I wanna be. I'm like, oh.
I I can't remember who it was, but I saw someone um so I met I met uh Maisies and uh get the name um at the start of con and uh there was this one person who went up to them before and was like cosplaying as a bannerful character.
I can't remember what character they were cosplaying out. So they were told and same, got a picture, got some signatures, right? And then that entire first day, everywhere I went or everyone I spoke to, they also spoke to. So it looked like I was following them, but I wasn't. I was like, oh god. And then I and then I go home from the convention, right? So the end of the weekend. I'm scrolling through TikTok.
And this person has now popped up on my TikTok timeline and I'm like I like commented on it and I was like I was like I it's like I was like oh my god it looks like I'm just following this person. I go from uh literally trailing them the entire day to now commenting on their TikTok post. I'm like, oh no
Can't believe you do that, man.
It was a really cool cosplay to be fair. So you know, there's uh
The cosplayers have been insane.
Ah, they always are, to be honest. So do you see the whole like the whole Hermit Craft one as well? Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw a bunch of uh Hermocrofters as well.
rock up in an insane orbits the uh plus players insane orbits. Or inside MC, just like a the a I don't know, a big like square with with a mic. I guess that worked. Uh I guess then from from the panel we kinda did it backwards but oh well. Uh we we we go to Bannerful itself. So I'll be honest, I think nearly everyone who is a content creator has done this. I've obviously reached out to show my interest in pal. I know there's like l so many other people with so much more experience.
Yeah. Who can get the opportunity? But at the end of the day, as long as it's a nice message and you're not pushing or being rude, I think shooting your shot doesn't hurt personally. Um I assume or actually I shouldn't assume, I'm gonna ask. Did you show interest or did they reach out to you? Um
So I think like a while ago I've like I never have sent the message to Apoono and being like at le at least I don't think I have. Um I never sent the message being like, Oh I would love to do like a power event or anything like that. I know that they were in they knew I was interested beforehand because I mean I've just Just was again in calls with like Oppo and a bunch of other people talking about POW stuff. Like I remember being in call with Oppo while she was working on pirates.
Like back in the day. Um, so like I knew that Appo was already aware that like I was into the POW stuff and like we'd love to do it at some point. Uh I was honestly just going about my business back in like November.
And then I get added to a group chat with like out of absolutely nowhere. Out of nowhere I get I'm in a call with like a bunch of my friends. Uh, and then I'm get added to a group chat on Discord with Appo and Owen. And then they cheat-I'm like, oh, what's going on here? They both send gifts of like a night.
It's posting up and they're like they go nom hero site and then change the group chat name to nom expile creations and I'm like yes I don't get I don't care what anything else is just yes let's go let's go I'm ready I'm ready in coach Bring me in And then I mean that was history from there. I b I was down immediately. I saw knights, I I saw Power Creations, was like yup yup yup, ready to go, ready Let's go.
I love silly invites. Like the one you said about the Scott one as well. It's just so goofy. It's so fun. It's it's so it's
Like i I don't know. I was I don't like the corporate messages. Give me silly goofy invite.
And then I d like you said, you were one of the most uh you streamed the most uh
Yeah, I think Forcey had the most stream R's, but I had the most individual streams, I believe.
That makes sense, yeah. What I guess for anyone who hasn't watched pound, like I guess I'll mark this as spoiler alert, but you know, it's it's been a while now. Is uh can you tell us some some about your character?
He's an idiot. Um
I don't know
So basically the the I'll I'll try to have this be as like T L D R as I can as But the in a way my character was built to reflect the overall story of Bonnerfall. So Bonnerfall itself is about two Warren Kingdoms, Red Kingdom and Blue Kingdom, that were originally the Kingdom of Bonnerfall. That kingdom split apart.
Turned into Blue Kingdom, Red Kingdom, and then those two kingdoms are warring back and forth over god knows how many years. In the reflection of that story, me and Katie made two sibling characters: one of those siblings in Blue Kingdom, one of those siblings in the King. things in Red Kingdom. That family broke apart, which is why we're not in different kingdoms.
And like in a way, me and Katie built our story to reflect the story of Bannerfall. One family breaking apart into the two opposing sides and then us bickering back and forth. Bad communication, bad decisions, and then the story unfolds from there. That was the that was the best idea of uh like my character and like the a lot of the storylines I went down was m primarily primarily about family and phone family was where I based a lot of my story points.
Um so obviously Kiri Gobert was my character's biological sister, and then Forcey was like a chosen brother uh within the lore. And it was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun to explore.
Okay. And then though like I know sorry, that was such a crap response. Sorry, no, it's a really cool, really cool. Sorry, sorry. Ah, okay, it's so it's such a shit response, apologies. No, I I love it. I love it. I love it. What was like'cause I so I I like the th the thing with Inside M C is like I like to dwell into every area and keep up as much as I can, but with that it's so hard to keep up with just one thing. Like Twitch con this
Yeah, it was so cool but it was a nightmare, right?'Cause I'm interested in lifestyle, I'm interested in Curry Way's speedrun, I'm interested in Gauntlet, I'm interested in Bannerful and they're all clashing and I'm like, what do I do? Who do I go to?
TwitchCon EU needs to be three days. The fact that it's only two days is crazy to me.
Too bad next year, it's still two days.
Uh I know man. Like what are they lock in.
Well the thing is I think like the problem that is it's it's it depends if Minecraft are willing to always uh now like fun them.
as a sponsorship, right? Because then it makes more sense for it to be three days. Like for anyone else who's like not a Minecraft fan, it's like yeah and I've said this before about TwitchCon, it's amazing, right, and I love it. But I don't go for the convention itself. I finish the convention by twelve o'clock on the first day. I go for the people. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Hundred percent. So completely agree.
What was gonna say? Um about Banner Fall. Oh gosh, I've lost my phone now. Um Oh, that's it. I was gonna say what what were some of your favourite um like I guess like favourite memories or moments from the S P?
Honestly, as much as I love the lore and stuff, uh, the lore was a lot. We had the community cry a bunch. Uh there are definitely like lore moments that are like some of my favorite moments of that. But my favorite moments overall, honestly, just just getting a chance to like hang out with a lot of the people on the server. Um, me and like a mythical sausage had so many like Stupid little moments where we'd brick character and just goof around. They were always fun. Uh getting the
spend way too many R's playing Farkel. That was that was always great. Um I think like my favorite moments of Bannerfall was the non-serious parts. As much as I love the lore and loved that outside of it as well. And my brain, the Bonnerfall experience was going from like
Like crazy, heartbreaking lore making the community cry to all of a sudden I punch Katie in the face and then run away laughing like a goblin. Like that was my favorite part of Bannerfall was that environment more so than any individual moment. Um and god do I miss it. I miss it so much.
Oh see not to uh you wouldn't know anyways, but who knows, maybe we see you in a future Power Creations project.
I mean they know I'd be done. They know I'd be done. Maybe maybe if they do another streamed one, who knows? I mean I know Pantheon's coming up, uh which should be fun, which I am not in. I've confirmed this already.
That's YouTube, isn't it?
That is a YouTube one, yeah, I believe. I think. I'm not really that super caught up with it. I'm pretty sure it's a YouTube one.
Yeah, so it's I'm pretty sure it's a recorded one'cause it's similar to Vampires.
Yeah. Should we kill this either?
¶ Current Projects and Battling Burnout
Following the following Banafall, uh you've done you've obviously carried on stream and you're currently in Lifestyle World, which I imagine you're as soon as we end this podcast you're probably gonna be running to go and do I
I got some villagers I gotta go trade with.
Well apologies from apologies for taking you away from that. I know you're I I know if I was in that
Honestly the the mental brick is is nice. Uh
Well what I do is when I um obviously I won't tell you what's happening because it'd be metagaming. Whenever I record a podcast I always have someone's stream open. It's just like to help me talk better, I have visual thing. I've been watching uh with my ex the entire time over chatting. Um so I know exactly how it feels if I was in Life Still World I would be gunning for the object like it. I'm off work today and tomorrow I'd be wanting to play it all day.
It's it's so much fun. It like Lifesteal World has been so much fun, but it's also oh my god, I like I obviously good friends of Force C. Four C's been on Lifestealer for for god knows how many years now. Um and like I've been lucky enough to I've like I got a chance to hang out and be friends of a lot of the life stealers.
I've never I like whenever they were saying like sometimes the like lifestyle can get like a little like mentally draining or it's like because you have to always kind of be locked in for that sort of thing whenever you're not doing like a goofy bit. I get it now. I've been I've been on Lifesteen World for like a couple days. I get it. I get what they're talking about. It can be a lot. I need a nap, man. There's a lot going on. But I mean no, it's it's so much fun. It's been so much fun so far.
But not just that, you've also done other things like uh you've done Cobblemun, you've been doing a lot of Cobbleman before this. Uh brand new streamed a bit of Subnautica, I've been told.
Oh, I love Subnautica. Oh, I love some I yeah, I forced Wade Box to play Subnautica. I I did Subnautica too with uh Kitty, Forcy, and Wade. Uh that all kind of started because multiple years ago, for for those who don't know, my friend Wade Box has crippling philosophia, meaning he is afraid of the ocean. And like yep, he's got real, real bad philosophia.
And two years ago he played Subnautica on stream and it it was a re it was a really funny like rundown of like content. It was it was a lot of fun. And I made the joke like two years ago to weird being like
Bye.
If uh Subnautica 2 ever comes out of that, you gotta play it with me if it's co-op. And he's like, That's never gonna happen. And then on his birthday, like last year, the Subnautica 2 announcement trailer dropped and I sent it to him, like, hey wait. Happy birthday. Um, so uh that's been like an ongoing bit and finally got a chance to play it. Um it's so much fun. I love Subnautica so much. It's it's one of my favorite games, personally.
And fair play to him for leaving the country then,'cause he got the Eurostar this year, which meant he means he went under the ocean. Yeah. I I never knew that. I will be DMing him after this. Be like, hmm, wait, guess what I've just found out from a trusted friend?
Win box lore.
Um no, yeah, I you you've been like grinding content and like your your success, like that's the thing like Not to say it's ever handed to people, I'm I'm not saying that everyone works for it, but at the same time you've like you've worked for your chance and you've really made the most of it as well. Like it's really cool to see.
Well I mean I've been streaming actively for like at least like five years. Like I've been it's it's it's kinda crazy. I don't know. It's like obviously every content creator and every person on the internet gets Like a certain level of burnout as well. Like I've definitely been there. The weirdest thing for me over the past like couple months is
I've been basically daily streaming. Like I've been t I've I've been forcing myself to take like a day off every now and then so I don't get burnout because no one wants that. Weirdly enough, I I have got I've got none. Like I I'm I'm just ready to go. I think it's like, I mean, right now obviously Life Steel World is happening. That's taking up a lot of time. Um, but I've already I've got like three projects lined up.
Uh in the back right now that I that I can't really talk about. Um three like more projects lined up over the next like two or three months that are gonna be happening and like I I'm I'm super excited about those and it's like I don't know, it's I I'm like I'm doing cool stuff and then while I'm doing the cool stuff I'm th already thinking about the next like three things to come and I'm like, oh God. Oh Oh I can't get burnt out. It's been so much fun, though, start to finish.
'Cause I had it I had it during Christmas twenty three. I um was at my partner's house for like a week and a half and I just didn't do anything content related at all. And I was just so like done to the point where I actually signed up
It's good to take that break. Like getting that mental reset is so important sometimes. Nope.
But this wasn't even like a mentor already said, this was like I'm done with content. Like I sat back and I went, Yeah, I'm just quit. But like I've I I like I it was just a bad time where I turned around and I was like, I've been trying so hard with content creation um and I'm just not getting anywhere and like I know I know that's how it works. I'm not saying like it's not feel sorry for me. Um but I just sat down I was like, I just
After after like years and years. Yeah, so funny enough, my friend uh Rusty, Rusty Courage, sent me a DM the other day because I I took like a da uh like maybe uh like the longest break I ever took from content creation before Bonafall. Like I think like there was maybe like a m a solid month that I didn't stream because I was just Like I I didn't really know what to do. I remember me and my friend Rusty were we're chilling on a server, like it was like
six AM for me, like middle of the night. We were having like a late night combo, um, talking about just like life and stuff. And I remember saying to Rusty, I was like, this was like gonna be my last year of like fully trying to see if anything would happen. And then two months later I got the message from Pow and went, Ho
Yeah.
Um so it's crazy. It's like you it it very much just leans into the thing of like you never know what's around the corner.
Um yeah, that's like that's the thing. Like I'm glad I carried on going. But even now like I'm staying motive motivated, I'm staying passionate. But at the same time it's so hard when like you know, you it's it feels like sometimes I'm trying to get blood out of a rock. But you know, since TwitchCon there's been a lot of ups, so hopefully I can ride that to to carry on going. But yeah, before TwitchCon it was getting rough again. I was like, I'm doing all this?
It feels great. I feel great, but at the same time I'm like, So I guess we're not.
It it's an up and down game. There's there's like the creation space has big ups and big downs. It can be it can be rough. It's just k still going. If you just gotta kinda keep going with it. If like if you're passionate about it, you'll find a way to keep going with it as well, is the thing.
For sure, yeah. And that's what I wanna do, so I'm happy to keep going. So and now I have you on the podcast, so it works out. Yes. I I know it's been it's been a shorter one than than I guess what we'd normally do, but Felt like we've done a pretty good job of covering all bases. Is there anything else you wanted to talk about this while I was gonna bring up?
Uh honestly we we kinda yeah, we went a lot faster than I thought we would have. Normally normally I yop. Normally I yop nonstop.
Well to be fair, it has a
I mean I think we did cover a lot. Yeah, I suppose.
So it's been been a long long enough as it is. Well not as it is, sorry. I'd love to talk for more. It's just if you have anything
Oh he hits me. He wants me gone.
No, no, I w I wanna go and see you succeed on Life Still World. I'm thinking about you nominal grave.
Okay. Oh of course, of course.
So uh before I let you go though, I do have some Twitter questions.
Oh, okay, let's go.
¶ Twitter Q&A: Accent and Catchphrase
So the first one comes from Irish Potato.
Irish Yes, more Irish people.
What's the most Irish thing you said?
Ha ha ha.
The most Irish thing I've said ever? Like what
Yeah, I guess. Yeah, ever maybe in the content space where people turn around and be like, What the heck are you saying? Oh. That's all what she said, but I'm I'm adding.
Yeah, no, but I I I'm t I'm taking okay, you know what? No, I g I can answer that question in the stupidest way. Okay. Um around like a month ago, uh me May Mises. May Miz is a very good friend of mine was doing a subathon. And one of her subathon goals was that she would do a tipsy harpy express of a bunch of people. Um so it was a bunch of us. It was like me, uh, May, Greasy, Abolish.
Shauna, like a massive, massive group of people all went and did a tipsy Harpy Express. And uh I have this thing where my accent is like obviously I have a bit of an accent here. I mask my accent a lot uh whenever I'm talking in the megaphone. Whenever I drink. that accent does not hide anymore. So I think the most Irish I've like ever been on the internet is definitely that night whenever I got whenever I drank a little more than I expected to and the accent just came flying out. Um
I yeah, that I I think down to that's the stupidest way I can answer that question, but probably that. There are way too many clips of uh of that now and it's an issue.
is whenever I talk to people, um so I worked in a I worked in a corporate building, uh as a barista one time and we obviously we'd have people from all over the world come in. And uh when the Americans came in, which was always really interesting, uh when more when they spoke to me in person obviously than online.
They'd come in and like I remember once some guys turned around and was like, You're not English and I went, Sorry? Yeah, you're not you're not English and I went, Uh I was born in England He said, Yeah, but you're not fully English. I went, No, I'm not He's like Are you Australian? I said, No, I'm not Australian.
There's like there's tints of an accent, like'cause obviously sometimes even I think it's when I say like the word Irish or Island, like there's it it's not like Yeah. I don't know, like there's like that thing. Um and he's like, Are you like you're some like Irish so I said, Yeah I am and whenever I go over to Ireland, uh'cause I go over like as much as I can like once a year if
Yeah.
she brings out whenever I'm talking to like my family they don't really understand the they they do understand English accent but they find it hard to because obviously do you know it's different different accents
So, um,'cause they're just from like a small little village. Uh so whenever I talk to them like the Irish accent comes out a bit more. Even though even though I wasn't born there, I just it just becomes a bit thicker and they can understand me a little bit better. It's it's kinda fascinating really.
Right? I mean I I'll it like I'm someone who does like very similar stuff of like a lot of the time my accent will change to reflect who I'm talking to. Yeah just subconsciously, which is also definitely a big part of it.
There's a there's a word for that as well,'cause when I've worked with um people in the past, um uh like like when I again as a barista, remember I worked with this one person who didn't speak English, like she was learning English, but we hired her. She was lovely, lovely, lovely, a lovely lady. Um like m my I talk very far.
And like subconsciously my my words so down and I kind of like like broke up a little bit. Not talking to her like she was a child, but like she she wanted me to. Like I kind of broke my words up a little bit so she could understand me better and learn English better. And I remember she was like really appreciative of it. She was like you you sp like whatever I did.
naturally really helped her. I was like, oh, that's like strange, I didn't mean to do it. It just happened. So, you know, with that. Uh the next one then comes from factorization four. Why do you always use well, well, well?
Ha ha ha.
Honestly, I don't know. It kinda just became a thing and then Stuck and uh it's just kind of my thing now. Like I'll be odd, I wish there was a better answer to this. I don't know how I coined the phrase well, well, well. I just kind of said it one time and then it stuck.
Thank you.
And then it was just a thing. I think the first like group that it actually stuck with, uh, in terms of like my friends, weirdly enough, was like Appo and like Cherry. I think I came home like one day, like it was like lit. I came home from like hanging out with like some friends and was like, you know what? I'm not ready to go to bed. I'm gonna go and like do some MCCI. I hop on MCCI and Cherry and Apo are there and they just
spam me with, Well, well, well And they're like, wait, that's the nominal thing. I'm like, That's my thing? It's like, yeah, sure, that's my thing now. Well like well, yeah, whatever. I just kinda ran with it and I I remember uh back during like Cowboys S P I kept getting messages from like s people on Cowboys S P being like people keep saying well well in lore and I keep thinking of nominal and I'm like, This is cra that's crazy.
So genuinely there isn't really a reason why. I just kinda said it for a bit and then it stuck. So I I don't I don't know. I don't know, but I'm I'm happy of it. It's mine now and I'm not letting it go. Um
Yeah.
It's it's stupid and I love it.
If I hear anyone go well well well now we're gonna be like, oh my god, that's a nominal gravy.
It's the thing, he said the thing, he said the thing.
He said the normal gravy line, what the heck? Or she said or they did or whatever. Well, well, well, with that being said
Well, well.
