Episode description

An IP address comprises the network address and the host address. The IP address is divided into network and host addresses by a subnet mask. If more than one subnetwork is required, subnetting splits the host portion of an IP address into a subnet and a host address. Use the subnet calculator to obtain subnetwork information from an IP address and a subnet mask. A subnet mask is so named because it is used to determine the network address of an IP address by performing binary arithmetic AND operation on the netmask.
