Episode description

We are joined by Amazon Labor Union core organizer Connor Spence and lawyer Seth Goldstein: Since winning a union election at the massive JFK8 warehouse in Staten Island in April, the amazon labor union has continued organizing in Staten Island and beyond. They are organizing for a union win in JFK8s three sister warehouses and Amazon warehouses around the country are indicating they want to unionize. But this is no easy fight, and in many ways, an uphill battle. While Amazon continues to pour millions of dollars into anti-union campaigning, the ALU is fighting to start contract negotiations at JFK8. These have been stalled by the corporation’s objections to the JFK election results, which will be heard at the national labor relations board office in Pheonix, Arizona on June 13. On Monday, the ALU faced off Amazon in labor court, and this time they were the ones bringing the complaints to the Board. That hearing was in regards to 6 unfair labor practice complaints filed by the independent union’s legal team.
