The Dignity Project: Elizabeth Eagleson Bridgwaters

Elizabeth Bridgwaters grew up during segregation. She later became the first Black elected official in Bloomington as a member of the school board. She raised nine children and was dedicated to promoting education in the community. In 1999, she was voted Monroe County Woman of the Century by the Herald-Times.
