Episode description

Maternal health and rural healthcare are two critical challenges facing Georgia—but what happens when these issues intersect? In this episode of In the Wild, we speak with Catherine Clary, director for Rural Health, and Marlo Vernon, PhD, assistant professor at the Medical College of Georgia, to explore the alarming rates of maternal mortality among women in rural areas. We dive into the research and initiatives underway to combat these disparities and highlight how Augusta University is preparing the next generation of healthcare providers through hands-on training in the Interdisciplinary Simulation Center with A.J Kleinheskel, PhD, director for the Simulation Center.
