Episode description
This whole month of September has historically been a time where we celebrate the local church. A time we highlight the amazing things God is doing in and through us as a church. “You are my people because we are His people, and if we are His people then you must be my people.” Because God uttered those very words, “You will be my people… we can look at each other and say, “you are my people.” Belonging to a group of people is something we all understand and probably have experienced, it is the moment you connect with someone in such a way that there is an ease and love for one another almost immediately, and the more you get to know them the more you find you have in common. It doesn’t really matter how much you differ on certain things because what unites you is more compelling and important than what you may disagree about. The time you spend together can be planned but does not have to be because just being around them brings a sense of belonging and safety. When you find someone, or a group of “someones” like that, you tend to call them “my people.” The reason is simple. The family of God runs deeper than our physical families because we are connected not simply by the blood pumping through our veins, but by the blood of Jesus spilled on the cross.
