Naked & Afraid

War is a terrible, horrific thing. So in trying to describe the gravity and seriousness of living a life that pleases God in a fallen world, a world that is still affected and influenced by Satan and sin, the metaphor the Apostle Paul used was war. God never wanted us to have to deal with the horrors of war, it nonetheless became a normal, consistent part of this broken world after the fall. Consequently, it was something Paul’s readers could comprehend, just as it is something we can understand today. Some of you experientially, all of us historically and theoretically. Therefore, in order to be equipped for this profound spiritual war we daily encounter, Paul presses this metaphor with a detailed description of the armor of God.
