Miraculous & Humble

This week we are picking up where we left off in the Apostles' Creed. “I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, and what we will look at today, “Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the virgin Mary…” We must affirm the virgin birth as it is the foundation of many other critical doctrines we believe. Without the virgin birth there is no gospel. Christ is not God. If Christ was not conceived by the Holy Spirit, then he would have had a human father, consequently not being divine. Without the virgin birth there is no provision for salvation. Jesus could not reverse the curse of sin and save sinners. If we don’t believe the virgin birth, we also deny the truthfulness of the Bible, the humanity of Christ, the sinlessness of Christ and the nature of grace. Without the virgin birth our whole faith falls apart.
