Episode description

Christie Zaza is a Faculty Liaison in the Centre for Teaching Excellence at the University of Waterloo. Her article, "Students distracted by tech leave professors longing for eye contact" appeared recently in The Conversation. In this conversation, we talk about the research she conducted with Dr. Elena Neiterman that grounds the article. Should technology be banned from the University lecture hall, or do we need to take a closer look at how students coming to today's university are engaged by their professors. As is usually the case, the answer may lie somewhere between the two poles!
