Episode description

This week episode is a special one! It's our first remote episode as Lucie is joined by Ecuadorian-American writer Rafael Agustin (CW's Jane the Virgin). Rafael just published his hilarious and poignant memoir "Illegally Yours" about growing up (unknowingly) undocumented in the United States. This is the first time a guest on the podcast talks about what it is like to live as an undocumented immigrant in the US and it's an important, eye opening discussion. Rafael talks about the culture shock of moving from relative privilge in Ecuador to a garage in California, the guilt felt by children of immigrants, the night he raided Oliver Stone's mansion, how his immigration problems led him to art, why vulnerability is his superpower, his obsession with Zach Morris, the time he wanted to deport his penis and SO much more.
