In 1969, a group of Morehouse College students held the Board of Trustees hostage for two days. They demanded reforms to the curriculum and overall improvement to student life. One of the hostages was Martin Luther King, Sr. One of these students was Samuel L. Jackson.

Speaker 1

Welcome to the A Building. I'm Hans Charles, I'm menelek Lamomba. It's nineteen sixty nine. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Junior have both been assassinated. At Black America is Out a breaking point, Rioting and protest broke out on an unprecedented.

Speaker 2

Scale in Atlanta, Georgia at Martin's Almama Morehouse College. The students had their own protests. It featured two prominent figures in black history, Martin Luther King Senior and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson.

Speaker 3

To be in what we really thought was a revolution, I mean people would die.

Speaker 4

Nineteen sixty eight, the murder of doctor King, which traumatized everyone.

The FBI had a role in the murder of a black panther leader in Chicago.

Speaker 2

This is an era of terrorism, of lynchings.

They patrolled, came to campus, they were beating students, they were shooting tear gas into the dorm rooms of Clark.
