Icey's Daily Game. It's a production of iHeartRadio. What's Up is ice Tea? You're listening to the Daily Game, the compilation of motivational quotes I've collected over the years that I found inspiring and helped me through the game of life. Today, I'm going to drop some knowledge from the other ice

my man ice Cube. As far as ice Cube goes, me and him started out in hip hop around the same time in La He was the lead rapper in NWA and basically the term gangster rap was coined after ice Cube said the first lyrics to Stray Out of Compton, where he referred to NWA as the gang called niggas with attitudes, and the press said, hey, this is gangster rap, and we all rode with it from that point on.

Before that, it didn't have a name.

Speaker 1

Ice Cube says, don't worry about being a star. Worry about doing good work and all that will come to you.

Speaker 2

Let me say that one more time.

Speaker 1

Don't worry about being a star, Worry about doing good work and all that will come to you. Now, somebody told me the other day that the number one thing that kids want to be today that you know and say, what do you want to be when you grow up? Would you believe the number one thing kids say is famous? They want to be famous. Now, what Ice Cub is saying is don't worry about being famous. Do the work and fame will come to you. But nowadays, with social media,

you can almost be famous without doing anything. The only thing I can say about that is that fame doesn't last. It's hard to sustain fame without any how would I say, any talent behind it or any substance behind it. So I always believed in just do the good work first. Like right now I'm working on a new album. I'm not so concerned with any awards or anything. I just want to make the best album I can possibly make.

Speaker 2

So do the art first.

Fame fortune all that will follow, if it should, if it's supposed to do. But concentrate on making the best product, being the best you, and you'll be surprised what will happen? You know, I just got a star on the Walk of Fame. That was never ever my agenda. As they say, that was beyond my wildest dreams. But it happened because after all these years, I guess they felt I put in enough work to get that star. Don't worry about being a star, worry about doing good work, and that

will all come to you. This has been another ice cold fact from me, Ice Tea. Listening again tomorrow when I drop some wisdom on your ass. Till then, stay safe, stay smart, and stay knowing that hard work pays off.

Speaker 2

I sees Daily Gaming.
