Chief O'Brian is also the Chair of the ICC Fire Code Action Committee and the International Director of the Fire and Life Safety Section of the International Fire Chiefs Association. He was awarded the Robert W. Gain Fire Prevention Leadership Award at the 2021 Annual International Code Council Conference.
