Tom McKay Takes On Powerful House Rules Chair
Episode description
With big endorsements coming from a former Anchorage Republican Mayor, a sizable cadre of resource development leaders as well as party leadership within the District he is running in, Tom McKay's race has attracted a lot of attention.
Incumbent Chuck Kopp was installed as Rules Chair following a drawn out battle among Republicans last legislative session that ended with Kopp and several other Republicans linking arms with Democrats to form a coalition led by long-time Democrat Bryce Edgmon.
That decision effectively killed all pro-life, pro-family issues Alaska Family Council works on. It has also reverberated long after the session ended and is a key campaign theme in McKay's and others efforts to unseat Republicans who joined with Democrats.
Tom McKay is my guest today on Family Matters. I hope you can join us.
