It should have been Laurel I pop Culture. Riley Pelusis take it away, thank you so much, and I'll take eight percent. Love a beat, solid beast, that genius. I was always told growing up, sees get degrees, so b is just a above that. But first, I think

we're gonna get into some fashion from you. Had some fashion moments in this episode we didn't get to talk about, including I loved Laurel lies sort of blue shirt with the sequence she always has those cool T shirts. Remember that from back then? I did not care for At the end of the episode, Christopher's the next sweater with no shirt. Did any did you notice where was in the diner? Yeah? What's the leather jacket over with it? Yeah? I just needed a shirt. No one think that right? No,

my my, my brain didn't go there. I was like, it was jarring for me. I'm going to rewatch it. I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I also love that Lorala and she does wear this a lot to are these amazing trousers with the black sweater and the cool belt. She always has that look and it's like, I think, because she's so tall, it just is so cool. So those are my fashion moms. Thank you for letting me show um, you know, not my jam here. I think wardrobe is important.

I look at it from from a technical point of view. I really noticed Christopher's wardrobe the most because it was so you know, he had a really nice suit on. You know, he looked really sharp at the debate. Well yeah, just I mean through the whole episode. So they're they're they're pretty when he went to the Gilmore studio, right, and they're projecting this idea of a successful adult male and they did a beautiful job, because I mean I by clothes doth make the man, don't they? I just

don't want to say it. But what was bothering me? It's just too too much chess, too much chess. You don't want you want to you don't want to see that. You don't want to see that. I do. But for some reason, Christopher, I was like not feeling it. I want to see that on Logan any day. I don't need Logan to ever wear a shirt, get you. Um. My favorite was Loura Lies very odd pink. Yeah, what dog that is? It's like a Chitsu? How do I buy that? It was so pink dog? It was a

pink turtleneck swater with the dog. Oh my god, Riley keep explaining, but I gotta google that, right. Yeah, it was a high turtleneck and it's this black and white Chitsu dog with like a pink little bow on top of the and it's in Luke and and Luke Diner when she's talking to Rory. And I just found it, like as Amy said it before, I found it jarring a little bit, like I would pay so much money to wear that, and by that like one eBay, like where is it. Oh, so good, so good. You nailed that.

Riley's that was the best thing in the whole episode. I thought, so too. I have to I have to recalibrate this for myself. Ben Roethlisberger just retired from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anyway, I'm good, alright, go ahead, rock Oh, I have no idea who that it's pop culture? Bring it in? Yeah, all right, let should we get We'll get into pop culture. Let's do it. I loved it. There wasn't very many old timey references in this episode, so we're getting there. Either that or I'm getting older

by the minute. So first we have Rory talked at or Lie about her dinner with Emily, and Rory says, well, what did you well, what did she think? They were? Just come in and find a rabbit boiling on this

We've mentioned Fatal Attraction before on this podcast. In season one, episode fourteen, in the climactic scene of the movie Fatal Attraction, Michael Douglas's character comes home to find that his stalker, played by Glenn Close was has killed the children's pet rabbit and left it in a point pot of boiling water over the kitchen stove. It's really gross. It's so gross. Um, how do you First of all, how do you cheat on an archer? I know, but I mean was sassy

in that? But Glenn Close was like very I get it. But also but it's an archer. Look, how do you cheat on an archer? Preach? I get it. How does Beyonce get cheated on? It's all these people? She go, what's what's the allegation? The the girl with the hair? What was that with the good hair? You don't know? Ben Roethlisberger retired? What that's that's my that's the limit

We're really bridging the gap eighteen years of throwing pigskin inside of stadiums better than most, and now you're bringing back fatal attraction right what with c W icon Josh Jackson, Joshua jameson Pasty as a film a series like a shot to be different? But yet I know Josh Jackson is his name Joshua Jackson or Josh Jackson ja Jackson? Yeah, pacy to me, how do you cheat on an archer? How do you do? Because if you I mean, if you don't cheat on

an archer, you don't have a film. I mean, how does how does Michael Douglas Close? She I mean, I get it, get it. Glenn Close scared the crap out of me in that film. She was the whole point. What's also helped me out here. How do you cheat on an archer in Fatal Attraction? How do you do that? And and she with somebody who's who's like frightening from the first moment. You just don't do it, then then you don't have the great film. But it's my question

Going back to how creepy Glenn Close was. She still has a knife she used in the movie hanging in her kids chin sating. It's beautiful, made of

wooden paper. It's a work of art and it's nice for our guests to see it. It lets them know they can't they can't stay forever. How creepy is that? Human sexuality is just such a mystery, isn't it? I can't believe go ahead, Riley, Sorry, Lane calls Rory at the diner, and Luke says, hey, watch it loyalizes, Yeah, duck Harvey loyalize, referring to the play Harvey, which was later made into a movie starring Jimmy Stewart. Harvey is about a man who believes he has an invisible companion, Harvey, a six foot rabbit. Although Josephine Hole played James Stewart's sister in the film, she was thirty ones years older

than him in real life. This is a bit of an old tiny reference. Yeah, um, Rory described Sherry to Lorely Luke's and Roy says big. Bruce Springsteen fan seeing him like twenty times so. Bruce is an American singer, songwriter, musician. He has released twenty studio albums, many of which feature his backing band, The Street Band. After a nineteen seventy six concert in Memphis, Springsteen went to Graceland at three in the morning, jumped the wall and ran to the

front door. Security grabbed him before he could make it to the door and sent him backing. And he got his nickname the Boss while playing with a band called Earth in the late nineteen sixties, when he was tasked with collecting the band's fee from club owners club owners and distributing it among the band afterwards. Hey that and he was also you know, he solidified that reputation in the studio too. How we have boss twist that Sherry

loves Bruce why unexpected? I just would never think Sherry is like a big Bruce fam Yeah, but you if you Okay, So his third it's either's third or second album, because you know, he was discovered by the guy who who originally signed Bob Dylan a legend, I don't know, Columbia Records or something, and uh, and I thought he was going to be the next Bruce, was gonna be the next big thing. from the label. Yeah, and then and then they did The Wild The Innocent in the Street Shuffle, which is to me, belongs in the top three albums of all time. It is the most elegant, beautiful album. I mean, listen to that album and then and then put on a nice dress that's super smooth

and you'll you'll feel it. That was that. It was very good. Um, Luke Steiner's empty lor license, this this whole thing, We're not done with Bruces. Have any of you have seen Bruce? Yeah, I've seen Bruce live twice. I saw him in live in nine at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Bruce when the Staples Center opened, and it's not even the Staples Center anymore. I think it's like the Bitcoin Center now. But when it was became the Staples Center where the Lakers play, Bruce was the first

concert there. And I will but now I'm feeling like I'm getting that wrong. But I think I definitely went and it was definitely the Staples Center, not the Forum. I saw him in seventy five in Philadelphia at the Spectrum Christmas Eve and he played for four freaking hours. This guy, I thought, I mean it was like it was unbelievable energy coming off that stage and those songs. Oh my god. Yeah, And then I saw him working out. I don't know, nineteen see Luke loving the Boss. I

just everybody loves the Boss. Serry more like a come on, um New York City Serenay Journey. Maybe she loved Journey Journey. I don't love Journey. So Lukes Diner's empty lorer Li says this, this whole thing has been a little Twilight zoney, Luke says, or Outer Limits E. So we've referenced Twilight Zone in a previous episode, so let's talk more about Outer Limits. Outer Limits was on from nineteen sixty five

on ABC. Many scenes in some entire episodes of the series were filmed on location at series creator Joseph Stefano's house, from which the production company took its name No or Limits. Original was title was Please stand By, and many of its monsters were recycled for Star Trek, which again Gilmore Girls coming back to Star Trek next, we have a lane calls Rory and Luke's to talk about being grounded. Yeah, he had a bodyguard with him and the guy was jacked. Dr And he's like he's like kind of older, he's not a young dude, but he man, I thought he was. Do we already say he's doing the super Bowl? He's doing the Super Bowl? I don't know. He had this like tiny little waist as super tight long sleeve shirt

and he's jacked. He's yeah, he's at the super Bowl. Will there be any holograms at the super Bowl? Probably? I don't know where's the super Bowl in l Stadium? Yeah, he would go for a Tupac hologram part two with Dr Ja. I'll do it. You know, he's the guy guy, he's pushing some serious weights. Man, this guy. Remember when I walked in, I thought he was a bodybuilder. Who's this bodybuilding or the bodyguard? Drey? The guy is jacked.

He looks like a cartoon. He's so muscular. Can you imagine how disappointing would be if he wasn't wearing Beat's headphones working out? He had like a thirty year old man walkman on he walk very's handsome. Yeah, he's very handsome. I'm just very handsome. For god, how handsome he is? So this referenced, Yeah he has a good good good boss. Oh the guy is jacked. Ye, all right, so those reference In Octobre pled guilty to battery of a police

officer during a Macond brawl. He served a house arrest sentence for each charge, which required Dre wearing a police Moderney angle bracelet. This is perfect reference and slightly in his GND. I was there that night, Okay, I was there. He was provoked. Sorry you were there that night. I'm just kidding. Oh, I was like, Mike Drop, I'm just trying to well, I wasn't there called a witness stand. There's that guy in the party. I was there, that was there. Yeah, I was saying that night, I can't

talk about them. I can't tell you that. Laura Lay and Rory are watching TV and Roy says, not the Two fal Ladies again. So The Two fal Ladies was a BBC two television cooking show starring Clarissa Dixon Wright and Jennifer Patterson from repeats play on the Cooking Channel in the Food Network All the Time. Um, they were a hit because they had a disdain for healthy food

and politically incorrect banter. Um. They hated vegetarians and anytime someone said that they were vegetarians, they were acted poorly, very sadly, and um. Paterson actually died of lung cancer on August tenth, n one month after diagnosis. The day before she died, she asked Dixon right to bring her a tin of caviare that's what. That's what Patterson. They mentioned that she passed away in the episode. I had never heard of that show until I saw a clip

of it. In it should have been Laurel. She's Patterson with one tea um Paris and Rory. Rory are chatting in the hallway. Paris says, for the average Willie Nelson roady, yes, but for a winning debate team member. As a comparison, I speak on average of one seventy eight words per minute. So. Willie is an American musician, actor, and activist. He wrote

his first song at the age of seven. Some of Willie's hit songs include on the Road Again, to All the Girls I've Loved Before, and Always on My Mind. He's known for his long somethings that show her that Willie sorry every time I hear his name. I do that it My My wife hates it when I do that. And I think now that you I've shared it with you y'all, then you probably don't like it either. Actually say, Willie Nelson, go ahead, I enjoyed it. Willie Nelson. That's

our new sound bit. Instead of building on my can quite has I don't even know the lyrics. Willie is a national treasure, and he's almost nine and he's still he's still rolling Jay's baby in his bus. I think he gets a little busted sometimes. Oh man, you know, you gotta love a guy who at that age is still token. He's a midnight toker. M hm. So I actually saw Willie a few years and they had a golf cart pull him up on the stage. When who did you see Willie Nelson? Maybe over? Sorry, Laura and

Sherry talk in the kitchen. Laura Lie says, you mean Martin Sheen all changed the same tree. That was funny. Martin Sheen is American actor and known for his roles in films such as Apocalypse Now, Amy's Favorite, The West Wing, and The Departed. You didn't like Apocalypse Now? Did you see a Popoca? I've seen parts. No, that's not my bag as much as The West Wing? Oh my god. I mean I love Grayce and Frankie. Don't get me wrong. Apocalypse Now even like Martin Sheen and those like random comments.

Are you trying to tell me that's a guy film? I mean, I know, did you have you seen it? Riley or Danielle? Apocalypse Now? I know it's like one of the best films ever, but I never saw I know, it's like one of the best films ever. But you know what, I've seen President Bartlett get shot no less than fifty times. Sometimes. I just watched that scene because it's so amazing, like tragic. But then they take him

to the hospital. He lives. President Barlett lives, and I just love the way that they take him to the hospital and the special red phone rings which means the President is coming, and she's like, I don't have time right now. Is this a drill? And then she hears the sirens and she's all red red or blue blue or whatever it is, and then everybody just goes crazy. I mean, you got a YouTube, but it's so good. I feel like I'm there. I'm feeling she's all red

and then it's just like craziness of them. Oh my gosh. It's like amazing. Noticely done drills to prepare if the president ever comes into the emergency room. You should be in films. Look at you. I've seen that so many times. Um. You know, Martin Sheen replaced I think he replaced Harvey Kytel in Apocalypse Now Harvey Kye tell I think it was alming for two months. I love a popish now and then for some reason, uh, he had to go home or something, and she came. She came in. Sheen

came in with actually no notice. He's just like he got the call, he got on a plane and he goes. Jean is eighty one, Fonda eighty four, Lily Tomlin two, Sam Waterston eighty one. Those are all the Grace and Frankie's and Jane dissed me and Beverly Hills since she was I forgot about the Emilio Estevez is oh. In a strange twist, Martin Sheen's son is Emilio Estevez, and Emilio Estevez co starred in The Mighty Ducks TV show

with Lauren Graham. But then now Emilio Estevez is leaving and Josh to Mel is going to be the think Lauren Graham is still in it. Josh Dumel boom, how about that, Josh Dumel. I love Josh to Mel, so maybe he didn't love her mark She has been married for sixty years, by the way, quite as often as he should have. Reference Laura Lie is referring to the fact that actor Martin Sheen has been arrested sixty three times for protesting and is known to be a pacifist.

My friend Lorreal lies asking if she ever thought that her and Christopher should be together as a family. Roy says, I feel like I'm on the Ricky Lake Show. So the Ricky Lake Show was a talk show airing from

two thousand and four. Studio audience participation was huge for the talk show, and Ricky actually gave birth to her own son, Owen and her bathtub in two thousand. What do you mean? I saw her documentary. She did a documentary where she birthed her kid, and I saw that. Yeez Freaky also started as Tracy Turnblad in hair Spray. Mm hm, you great, Lore lies asking Rory, same conversation, Roy says, but I also pictured you with Pee Herman. We lived in his playhouse and we'd be talking to

Cherry and Captain Carl would be by. I love Pee Wee Herman. I love Pee. I mean I like Paul Rubens is a nice guy, but I don't know. I never got Peewee. I didn't get all that. That house was so crazy. Pee Wee Hermann loves his bicycle, and Paul came up with the bike idea from seeing people on Warner Brothers a lot riding around Warner Blers gifted him a refurbished swin. You know we all, uh, we all had bikes. We had a cruise around on Yeah, to get to the set. Yeah, it was kind of a big deal that you got a bike, because if I remember the first couple of

years we didn't have bikes. Are we gonna mention a movie theater or we're gonna let that stuff we don't talk about happen July one, We don't mention it. You don't know about Pee in the movie theater. Oh, something untoward, but he's come back from it. Maybe he didn't Danielle, you look very serious. What's wrong? Are you annoyed at all? Are you getting bad like a bad email? Are you?

In the film Cameron's father's Ferrari wasn't a real Ferrari because it was too expensive to rent one. Three replicas were made. Matthew also started in War Games, The Cable Guy, En eighteen, The Freshman, and Election. The only person I love as much as Laura like Gilmore is Carrie Bradshaw

and Sarah Jessica Parker is married to Matthew Broderck. This is a wonderful, whole full circle. Boy, He's had a great career, hasn't he. Look at these films, Look at these great films. You're super nice people too, by the way. You know, I would imagine imagine them being your parents. I know that kind of you think I'm too old to be like their kid? Yeah, I would maybe.
