I Am all In. I Am all In with Scott Patterson and I Heart Radio podcast. Hi everybody, Scott Patterson, I Am all In Podcast, I Heart Radio one of them productions. Pop Culture Episode, Season three, episode seventeen, Tara take it away? All right, So this is season three,

episode seventeen, A Tale of Pose and Fire. Okay, So we start with a Lorelei greeting guests at the end for the po Um convention, and she says, there will be a complimentary cask of amontiano on the table in your room, and if you're expecting your friends, Dr Tar and Professor Feather, I'll send up another one. And then there's silence, and Lauraa says, you said you were with the Post Society, and the guest says, yeah, but it's

just a hobby. We're not trek ease. So. A Casque of a Manteato is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, published in eighteen forty six, the story of a man named Montes Montessor who decides to seek revenge against a man named for Fortunato Fortunato who has insulted him. And clearly none of us have read this book, none of us at Um and the System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather is a dark comedy short story by Edgar

Allan Poe, first published in eighteen. The story Um is of a man's naive and unnamed narrators visit to a mental asylum in the southern provinces of France. And then, of course, Treky's is a term used for Star Trek fans. But you said it's trekkers, right, Amy, So it was always sort of like in in conversation, people always said trek e's. But from what I know, actually people that are Star Trek fanatics called themselves trekkers. That's what I learned because I took a classic cow on Star Trek

The Next Generation. I got. There was a class at Berkeley. You see Berkeley. That's cool. Berkeley would have a class on and I got a boom Star Trek the next Generation. Do they have classes on Gilmore Girls? They should like Star Trek the Next Generation. When I was there, there was no Gilmore girls because I went to college before Gilmore girls existed. They have to get a class um, a class based on Harry styles. I can't remember school.

There's a Taylor Swift one too. Yeah, there's it's all about like fandoms and like the music industry, but it's based off of like Taylor Swift or Harry Styles. I would take a Gilmore Girls class or a west Wing. You know, I love me the west Wing. By the way, Mr Huntsberger is in twenty four. You know, I'm binging season two of twenty four. Mr Huntsburger. He was in something else I watched lately and I can't remember what it was. Well, we're all gonna be down at Epics

and chill, I know, Carleston, South Carolina, August. If nobody face times me with Matthew Grey, I'm gonna be like, actually superboss, I know. And it's like just hotties, straight hotties, six s Gillmore guys will be there. That's insane, Okay, keep going. Sorry, alright, So this is Loria Lye and Rory leaving the Post Society performance. Lor Li says, no, you go ahead, I'll catch up. Rory says, okay, try to make it home in time for Charlie Rose Billy

joels on and he might cry or something. So at the time, the Charlie Rose reference worked because he was a TV journalist and talk show host. From seventeen, he was the host and executive producer of the talk show Charlie Rose on PBS and Bloomberg. All right, moving on to the next one. This is one of my question, Sorry why but why is um billy Joel crying or something? How does that reference make sense? Because he's a piano man, because he gets emotional and interviews maybe something like that.

It's still rock and roll to him, because because because innocent, Because Charlie Rose is an uptown girl. Charlie Rose an uptown girl. He's in a New York state of mind. Could be in a New York state of mine with an uptown girl like Charlie is Danielle. He didn't start the fire. I can't, can't. I gotta think of more. I did not google billy Joel hads all that came out of my head. I should be able to do. I was just like, did he have a performance where

you just like totally cried on stage? Because you're always a woman to me? Keep going, sorry for the little bud, all right, let's keep going, all right for the longest time. Alright, So this is when Rory's entertained the kids with sock puppets. Lorelai says, Hey, Sherry Lewis, how's the show going. Rory says, oh, they're riveted. Um So. Sherry Lewis is a ventral quest best known for the sock puppet Lamb chop Her show on PBS one six Emmy Awards, and first debuted on

the show Captain Kangaroo in ninety seven. In Lewis told the Wilmington's Stars she liked to joke around with waiters by ordering a rack of lambs at every opportunity. Only the good die young. Oh my god, alright, so this is really fast. Yeah, I love you just the way you are. Oh no, spiral like we're gonna get it. You may be wrong, but you may be right. Oh man, all right, So now we're moving into um Michelle at Miss Patty's and they're answering the phone. Stop trying to

be a big shop. That was that was really relevant right there with me. Try to move onvid alright, so Miss Patty said out She says, I was Ricardo montal montal bonds receptionist for six months and he never complained. So Ricardo montal Bond began his career in the early forties in Mexico. He made thirteen films before coming to the US and seven when MGM brought him to Hollywood to be a romantic lead. He was that Antonio ben Daries. Yes,

he became an icon. Stud came an icon. Was both the white suited Rourke, the star of the high rated ABC drama and as Cohn Captain Kirk's Nemesis and then nineties films con he his con I totally forgot for all my truckers out there. Yeah, but he also sold He also sold cars too, did he? He was got on to our friend Rosalind Sanchez though. Who is the new Ricardo montalban on the Fox Fantasy Island. He uh. He was very popular in car commercials. Really, Yes, that's

why he was so famous. He was famous because he was he was He was mocked for his his his commercial the Corinthian leather. It's the Chrysler Cordoba, the Chrysler Cordor Cordoba with the Corinthian leather. So that's so Comedians ever since or in during that time would do their Ricardo Montobon imitation doing the Corinthian leather line. I also will go on a limb and say got hotter as he got older, Like I think he was at his hottest when he was like old, saying I love that guy.

All right. So the next one is, oh my god, there as con look at that. I forgot about that. Sorry, keep going, all right. So the next one is was my favorite line from the show from Michelle Loralai says, you check the cheshire cap, the maiden's teacup, the cookie house, the sugar bear in Michelle says every place that sounds like Glenda the good Witch threw up. Yes, all booked, and Glenda the good Witch is a fictional character from the Os novels. All right. Then moving on to the

next one. This is Rory and Paris talking in Paris's room. Rory says, so you've been in communicado lately. Paris says, I've had Nanny hold my calls, all the all the mail. My parents are away, so I've been totally huge. Howard using it. Howard Hughes was an American businessman, pilot, philanthropists, and one of the most influential and financially successful men in the world. He became a millionaire at eighteen years old after his father passed away and he inherited his

oil tool company. Wow, you know who's got six bathrooms? You know who's got six bathrooms? How are you? And Scott? I didn't inherit squat man. That's all nos the grindstone alright. So the next one is still in Paris's room. She says, I'll get an apartment in Cambridge by a Harvard sweatshirt and talk about Mira Sorviano a lot. Tara, speaking of another Yeah, how great was he? Great? Like Mira Sorvino too,

the Godfather. Mira Sorvino is an American actress. She won the Academy Award in Golden Globe First Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Woody Allen's Mighty Aphrodite. And she also don't forget Roman and Michelle Come on why I was Yeah, I was going to get there, But she also had turned at Harvard. Did you know that she's smart? So still in Paris's room, I was slipping through Harvard class schedules when you were still delighting, When you were

still delighting to the adventures of Gumby and Pokey. Rory says that was more of a pee wee herman kind of gal so Gumby is an American clay animation franchise centered on the green clay humanoid character Um and then Pokey was his his a sidekick, yep and then pee Wee Herman is a comic UM fictional character creating portrayed by Paul Rubens. Did anyone in this group love pee Weee because like people love Peewee hermant? No, But I

definitely remember Gumby. Remember Gumby? Too serious guy? I think I more remember Eddie Murphy as Gumby. I think there was an SNL script, but yes he was. But listen, you gotta give a shout out to Paul Rubens for creating this wild character that that you know, really captured the imagination of just about everybody. I mean, it was totally. And Laurence Fishburne Peewee Herman was is a huge character to create in a hole God that you know, Peter

has a whole ecosystem unto itself. It's it's yeah, And thank you to who just reminded me that Laurence Fisher Lawrence Fishburne was cowboy Curtis like Laurence Fishburne's in the Matrix. What he was an apocalypse now too. It was a twelve year old or something. He was on the boat taking Martin Sheen to Marlon Brando and he got killed. Lace Lawrence Fishford got killed by enemy fire. Yeah, uh yeah, alright,

so we went on to the next one. Um. This is when Lorela is displaced after another couple of times to say at her house, sorry, guys, I'm trying to move it along over here. It's fine. I'm adam billy Joel song I says, I'm a nomad. He says what Loreal I says. I'm a lonely wanderer. Hank Williams would would be too sad to write a song about me. So. Hank Williams was a singer songwriter regarded as one of

the most significant and influential of the twentieth century. And Um, he often wrote about being lonely and said, so that's where that reference comes from. And then this is when Lorela is yelling outside of Luke's. She says Luke, Luke, and then she yells Stella Stella, so stella. Um. This is from the scene in the film A street car named desire Um when Stanley is screaming up at the

window for Stella to come down to see him. That's Marlon Brando, right, it's an apt comparison, I believe, thank you. All right, And the next one is Jess talking to Rory through the window at Lane's. Jes says, oh great, what else does she think? I did start the fire? But Phil Specter up, we didn't start the nailed it. So Phil Spector was a record producer who worked with the Righteous Brothers, Tina Turner and the Beatles and created the Wall of Sounds, but was changed what was charged

with murder and killing his wife Une. Yeah, all right, and this is the last one. One thing I did gets one slip up. Yeah, so the last one. We're still with Rory and Jess and Lane's window, and Rory says, I told her, yes you were going. Jess says, well, as they say on family feud. Good answer. Oh my god. Such a way to end it, though, because I literally love only feud. I think it's doing the best game shows. And I think Steve Hardy is a great current. God

we should play makes us up people's names. So that's okay, Wait, who did it happens Steve Harvey? He did America? You mean miss America? Miss universe. We should one of these days, on like a special episode, do some sort of Gilmore Girls family feud. I don't know how to do it yet. Fun that would be fun, right, yeah, and be fun. Answers on the board, that's good. It's good. That would be fun. That's good. I like that and A and a Jeopardy episode two? Can you imagine it? So? But

do we do? We do Jeopardy at the now like seasons one through three? Oh yeah, and I think we let like fans like, let's put up on the Instagram. Hey, if you want to enter like in our Jeopardy. We don't know what we're doing it, but like that would be good. Who that would be crown, our biggest I am all in cood listener that knows so much Gilmore just everything. Well, dee us, that'll be cool. Maybe we make that our Vegas episode. Sounds like a good time

to embarrass ourselves. Let's go, guys, Okay, cool And that's it for pop culture. All right, kids, thank you for downloading. Best fans on the planet, Love you guys, And yes, I guess we will see you in Vegas at some point and we'll Yes, that would be fun to do Let's do Jeopardy in Vegas for a special go More episode? Maybe maybe? How are we going to do that? How are we going to do that? Well, well, I thought we were just going to roll by the pool and chilling.

We are. But we can get on a zoom with people. It's a lot of work in the summer. Versus to which of this crew will answer better? Yeah, we could start it with two verses too and see which of us win. But but I thought it should be like a flood of celebrity guests and musicians coming by to say hi. But we can do all that. Give us time, Give us time. We'll figure out. We'll not be in a bathing suit. I want to work. Why it's Vegas, it's I know. But by the pool. I'll be an

amazing my private pool. We'll figure it out. Figure coming soon before the end of Let's do some sort of coming soon in two years. I haven't been paid in a year and a half. What's going on? All kids?
