I am all in. Oh just you. I am all in with Scott Patterson and I Heart Radio Podcast. Hi everybody, Stott Patterson, We're back. So I am all in Podcast one eleven productions, I Heart Radio and Scott Patterson your host of hosts from Nova Scotia, and we are gonna We're gonna do a little pop culture on face Off. Well, we should start with face Off, which is a Nick Cage John Travolta movie that I love. Yeah, I love Face Off. You know why because the fact that John

Travolta could literally become Nick Cage is pretty epic. I'm not gonna and he and he was. He was super cool with Nick Cage in this film totally. But we're talking. We're talking about to Gilmore, episode three, episode fift. Not to confuse anybody, you've tuned into the You're at the right place, right, you're not listening to The Rewatchables, which is a different podcast. Tara s all right, it was back with us, take it away. So let's start with

Taylor giving pins for the hockey team semifinal game. Rory says, didn't we only make it this far because the Litchfield team got food poisoning Taylor says, I admit it's not exactly the plot of Hoosiers, but still very very exciting classic. That's actually very funny line because they're going to the hockey game, and that's very funny line. You know it was you know what was we missed that? We missed a great line? You went a great line in this

whole episode? Was that? What kind of jealous? So there's that kind of jealous and then there's a fella remember that. Oh my god, I just realized we forgot to do our favorite lines in this episode. We'll do We'll do them in this episode. It's okay, So can I give mine really quick? When when Taylor's talking to Laurea la about the reunion and and he says, did I tell you that? Or something like that? And she says, closing in on a hundred and fifty times, okay, keep going.

What was your favorite right? A favorite line? I don't I don't remember right, I had it earlier. I think it was something from Mrs Kim hold on, I have to pull it out. Moved to her computer screen to another I really like Laureaa backing out of the house, saying, uh, it's a deep philosophical question coming in, Well, maybe maybe I'll exit. What about Aren't You Serious? Are you serious?

That was also very good. There was there was some real high points there really were they really were really If you missed our recap earlier this week, you're gonna want to go back to it because it's it was good. It's a jam, Jim, keep going back to um pop culture. So Who's You's a sports film from that's about a coach with a bad pass and as a local drunk, trains a small high school town high school basketball team to become a top contender for the championship. And it's

starring Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper. M I never saw. I haven't either, obviously, Scott has. I think I think you've seen this. Next movie that's mentioned though, Amy Um. This is when Laura Lee and Roarory are running late for their dates. Laura La says, you kept making all that pointless conversation, all those thank yous and pleases? What are you running for? Ms? Congeniality? Okay, first of all, excellent film, but this gives me my moment to thank

all the good people who commented about Greece too. I just want to thank you so much. I read every single comment and it met in the world to me, and somebody also sent me a link to Circus with the Stars with Adrian's med thank you so Much. I was no Battle of the Network Stars. I wasn't on the episode with you guys, but I will say cool writers, such a great on so I got it. Somebody people were putting in lines from from Greece two songs. Uh, I died. I died. It was so good. It's very underrated.

Let's bowl, Let's bow, Let's rock and roll. Scott, Have you please Scott this weekend? Please watch Greece too, just for eat. I'll watch song. You watch Greece too. Don't you don't have to do that. I would never put anybody through that. First of all, I love song movies. If you watch to send you a hundred dollars. First of all, I love song. I finally gave the Chris rock one another chance. But yeah not it's good well so MS Congeniality, which we talked about as a film

with from two thousand with Sandra Bullock. But um, going back to what this line meant is MS Geniality is a coveted title at a beauty pageant known by her peers as the most friendly, helpful, genuine, and outgoing contestant in the pageant, and the award is given by the harshest judge of everyone, which is the other contestants. I just love Sandra, oh same speed though speed is my number one Santa. I love the proposed. Oh my god, Alaska,

I watched it the other day. Actually, okay, Scott, you can skip grease too, but you have to watch the proposal with Sandra Bulk and Ryan Reynolds. I think you'll enjoy more. You will like it and iconic Betty White, you will love it. This space, I wish you guys could see his face. It's almost a luke face with a little Scott. It's a little bit. It was a luke face like we were on the cell phone in the diner. But I just saw, all right, let's go to the next one. This is just such good moods today.

I don't know Scott's really loving us alright. Jess telling Lorila he didn't call Rory because he worked two shifts. Lorala says, you couldn't have taken two seconds to call and tell her. Jess says, no, Laurel I says, really, you don't get breaks? Do you get food? Water? Should? I get Michael Moore on the phone? Very good and

works just as well today as so. Michael Moore is an American documentary um filmmaker, author and activists and he works frequent frequently addresses the topics of globalization and capitalism. If you want to hear a great interview with Michael Moore, listened to SmartLess, another podcast that has nothing to do with us. They did an amazing interview with him that you would enjoy. Alright. This one is Emily at the end complaining about Grant invading their home. Emily says, I'm sorry.

I think I'm just a little sensitive right now. I'm selfish, I know. But Richard's traveling more than he ever did. He's been gone three of the last four weeks, and now he's finally home, and she's there, commanding all of his attention, all of his time. I sound like a spoiled high school girl, and Lorel I says, not quite. You still haven't asked for the glory of Vanderbilt jeans the convertible Rabbits. Convertible Rabbit was so good. I never

had Glory Vanderbilt jeans. Did you Scott actually did? I had a couple of pairs, oh man. The Glory Vanderbilt is an author, actress, fashion designer, airis and socialite. She has four sons, including CNN Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbilt. Jeans brought in two hundred million, and she created quote the perfect fit. I mean, I also love him on New Year's Eve with and I mean that might be it's such a drunk fast Scott. Also, if you if you're bored this weekend, you could read the podcast here.

Amy and I are going off? Is happening? I enjoy when Andy Cohen just loses his mind on that thing and Anderson's like trying to rain. Yeah, yeah, I've been I've been away from my family for too long. I'm starting to get snarky. Yeah, are you a bitter old biddy? I don't know about that, but I wanted to kick somebody's ass. They're coming soon, Yes, they are. I'll be I'll be better with the life of a big TV star.

We know it's hard. It's hard to be famous. I've never spent this much time away from them, and it's really I joke but we do feel bad for you. We try. It's hard, we try to help. I do feel bad. I face time them twice a day, an hour each time, you know. But I'm feeling guilty. I'm feeling guilty about taking a job because it's like, no, your kid's gonna go to college because of this job. I'm just gonna go to college anyone I know. But I mean, okay, if I even get him a car

when he turned six. Team, I'm just dealing with the guilt of taking the job and being away from him, and you know, he's a you know what I think. You know what I really like Scott, that I'm gonna say, going off topic, is that you acknowledge that. And also you're the dad. A lot of dads either are embarrassed to say that, do you know what I mean? Like, I bet you there's a lot of dads that have

that guilt, but like they don't say it. And so I'm not trying to like, you know, the fun of pop culture, but like it's really kill you, like that you acknowledge like how much you miss them, and also that you do feel guilty. And I don't think anyone would want you to feel guilty, like you're working for yourself,

but for them too. I had a long conversation with my wife about taking this job, not not the podcast job at the TV series because it was gonna take me to go on the den for an hour exactly. If you felt guilty about the podcast, we need to get your therapist. But I mean, so I'm curious, did she say, what did you do the podcast? What did she say? Did she what did she think about you

taking this job? Well, I mean, listen with what's going on in the economy right, the unpredictable nature of were you know, inflation and going into a recession, maybe you know all of this bad news, and then this sort of job comes along and we just started seeing it like it was kind of a gift. Yeah, I agree in hard times and you know, I'm in contact with all of my friends growing up with some of them

are doing really well and some aren't doing so well. Yeah, and no hard about the guilt you would have felt if you turned down this John that you didn't you did not seek this job out, meaning it came to you and you have to sometimes trust like fate and sign like that's what we did with this show. We just took a chance. Well, so it's like, I think you did the right thing, even though I I joke with you, but I do feel we've we all feel

bad for you did. But but it's just, you know, I'm not trying to throw a pity party for myself, but it's it's just, you know, in a down economy, and we don't know how long it's gonna last. But the prices being what they are to walk away from, you know, this kind of a deal and this kind of an opportunity, we just you know, we decided. Gosh, man, you know, yeah, you say yeah, And you've been home

for the past two years, you know. I think it's when you're home for that long, and yeah, it's hard to go away now for as long as you're gone, so it's not like a couple of days. Right. That's a good point too. I think that's a really good point to Tars making Scott like maybe it's harder because you had so much time together that it really has thrown you, like you're not used to being away from them for an hour. M No, I'm not. Anyway, let's

move on. We feel bad for you, but we'll just make some jokes we'll make some jokes and today was cool Rider again and all right, so I like when we take a moment though to be real, because like, yeah, I think a lot of people think. You know. I always thought like, oh, being on Gilmore Girls, being an actor would be like the most amazing thing ever. And

then I'm learning, like, what's hard work? We didn't I didn't mention this in the other episode either, but like I thought, even the background actors looked hot in the last one, meaning warm, like it was clearly so it was clearly ninety degrees and obviously it was Rory in her like the laser with Scarf and mittens, the background actors must have been m Yeah, I will say, speaking of the background actors now more than ever because of Amy with her food, I've noticed that more than ever.

There was a woman at the beginning who was I think she was trying to put cream She's on her bagel, but never actually put it on, just was just like holding it. What about what about the Laurela kind of fake eating the Chinese? Oh God, for one, I know, and I I was hungry watching so I was like food.

I know. That's why I was like, Rory, what is wrong with you, belly up, get going on that Chinese food for some reason, having that Chinese food in so long, and I need to find a good sounds good that does. I'm hungry too, going to I gotta get out of here. There's a there's a great sushi place right up the street here. I want to go sushi and Nova Scotia. Oh it's excellent. You're on the water, right right on

the water. But also you told us you really are liking this show and the way they're letting you make a lot of like, you know, acting decisions, and there's it's there's a lot of freedom here. There's uh, just a great attitude, great crew, great actors. Michael Murray is the coolest to He's such a nice guy. J We just didn't workout session uh yesterday. I made the mistake of trying to keep up with him. That wasn't a

good idea. We tell him, we say hi, and I can't wait till we do something like special with you two on the podcast. You know that dude has cut like a Greek god did. He's handsome. Oh my goodness, the body is ridiculous and it looks like he's not even trying to try. He's aging like a fine wine, is how we say it. He's not he's not aging, Okay, and his cute wife. Okay, anyway, keep going. So anyway, Yeah, so he is gonna he's gonna co host a podcast with me. Yeah, we need to do something super fun.

I think we just take take fan calls. We just let fans interact with you, because he's a good dude. He's a really solid, so nice. I know, I hung it with him for a long time at a Dodger game one time. Yeah, and Sarah, they're so nice. They're great, They're great, They're great. All right, let's keep moving with pop culture. This therapy session brought to you by Better Help Alright, Sponsors to Help. Oh my god, it's so true. All right, So this is the band with Mrs Kim.

Mrs Kim says, next time, bring one, and then Zack says, dude, remember the drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket? Totally So Harley Ermie played the drill in instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, and he earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role. Neither and in Scott we are very busy watching Greece two and the proposal we do not have time for films that win oscars. Yeah, I am currently rewatching Do you want to know what I'm

currently doing? Watching Jurassic Park number one, Jurassic Park number two, Jurassic Park number three, Jurassic Park number four, Jurassic Park number five, because I've already seen Jurassic Park number six, but it's now available on streaming, so I wanted to watch a Do you want to know what I'm doing? So that I don't jump off the roof? Here reading? Probably doing some smart I'm like we had aby over here. Um,

there's a Norwegian artist. Knew it was going to be smart. No, no, no, it's it's it's a it's a scandy pop singer band that the music is so great and and I've discovered scandy pops. Wow. And her name is Europe is producing some of the most interesting musical acts. And this one is from Norway. Her name is Cigarette and You've got to check this out. She's got two albums out. She's just young. What a performer, what a voice? Wow? Wow? And then I find out her father was obsessed with

Neil Young and Joni Mitchell and that's what she Yeah. Yeah, man, so I've been trying to keep my spirits bullied with cigarette. That's good dry Greece too to all right, let's go. So this is when Dave ran over a mile to the hockey game. Rory says, just remember there's cute jealous. Then there's othello about that last episode? Yeah alright, so then, yeah, of course I thought it was a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in three. I just picture Laurence Fishburn being

a fellow. Did I get that right? Yes, thank you, thank you. All right, so let's move to the next one. Loria is talking to Jess about not calling Rory loraa. Lie says, hey, Jess, you like music, right? The beach boys said it best none of the guys go steady because it wouldn't be right to leave their best girls home on a Saturday night. He's one of the best girls. She's the best girl, if you want my opinion, And you don't seem to have the first idea as to

how she should be treated. That was a funny, very deep line. Yes, and just to have just to pull that line out of her like that, I mean, come on that Yeah, very good. By the way, I saw the Beach Boys a couple of times in Fort Lauderdale on the beach with no, no, no, I understand that. He's like, yeah, yeah, no. This was back in the eighties. Oh so you saw the real Beach Boys. Okay, I saw the real Beach Boys and they were so good. So every song was a massive hit. You just don't realize.

And it was maybe the best concert I've ever seen. Yeah, I mean I want to see Yeah, I do disagree. Loyal The line she said in it is a lyric from the Beach Boys song I Get Around, written by Brian Wilson and Michael Love. The song was released in nineteen four as part of the All Summer Long album Right alright, So the next one, Loyala is trying to convince Emily not to confront door Baby is probably my favorite Beach Boys. How's that go? Don't worry Baby, Don't

worry baby. I love the classic Kokomo. Oh gosh, that's a later. That was a surprise hit the Beach Boys. I like Round Round, get Around. Yeah, God only knows. That was the theme song to UM that show with Bill Paxton where he had like three wives, which I loved right. Yeah, what was that called? M h what was it called? It was so good? Somebody will tell somebody will tell it. Under No, that was a different one. That was a Peter Krausa. Yeah. Sorry, somebody will tell us.

Keep going time, all right. So this next one is Loreli trying to convince Emily not to confront Grant about the about kissing the man in the jumpsuit. Um. So, lorel I says, you're seriously telling me that you're going to be the one to go out there and humiliate Grant, humiliate Grant in front of her friends, in front of her family. Just think about it, mom, with miss Manners, what would miss Manners do? Big? Miss Manners is a pen name used by Judith Martin and Etiquette. I love

Miss Manners. Yeah, and in a vight um. Martin began writing an advice column which was distributed three and later six times a week and was published in more than two hundred newspapers worldwide. In the column, she answered etiquette questions contributed by her readers and write short essays on problems of manners or clarifies the essential qualities of politeness to tidbits. Scott when you're watching The Proposal this weekend, you will see a moment where Ryan Reynolds does something

that shows extremely good manners for Sandra Bullock. And you can get back to me on that that movie. That movie is so good also doing it over you know what? No, No, I just wanted to report the tea over Graham's head. Still I still want that scene and they'll go back. And here's a tidbit for Miss Manners. When you're in a restaurant and they bring the bread, and you take your bread and you have your butter, how do you

properly butter bread? I don't use butter well ultimate olive oil. Okay, So Tara, since this is just our show, do you want to know how you properly butter bread or do you know? Okay, you don't like take the bread and butter it. You take your butter from the butter place, put it onto your bread plate. Then you break off a piece of bread from your sour dough roll or whatever, and you butter each bite individually. That is really how Miss Manners would tell you to do it. Never this,

never this. That's like a piece of toast. But then sometimes you get butter. That's like a little it's like still like really hard, you know what I mean, where you can't like butter the Yeah, I have to do that too. I gotta break it off. Probably you wouldn't like dip it in like it's a piece of French, so you don't take the entire whole thing. Take a little corner and eat it and take another corner, eat it exactly. You got gotta you gotta break it up.

I get it. I have etiquette. I've managed. Yeah, all right, it's good to brush up. Richard and Emily would approve of you eventually. I don't care. I think there are psychos, a couple of whack jobs. Man, are you kidding me? Approves of me. That's like a bad sign. That means I'm a whacko too. The best episode ever, t So this is the last one of pop culture today. Everyone's thank god. This is lorea Lie and Richard talking to anyone still with us. Thank you if you've made it

this far. This is Lorrel and Richard talking about the guy Graham was kissing. Richard says, I guess I've got a new daddy, which pays me. Awkward for him to say, and mere reading it back I thought that was so funny. Loyally, I said, maybe he'll take you to ballgames. Richard says, oh, we could get matching jogging suits. Oh, if only I could have seen Emily hiding in the bushes. It's like a play by Moier. That yeah, went totally over my head,

I said, Mollier Molier, that was at all. Mollier was a French playwright, actor, and poet, widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy writers in the French language and world literature. Um And Richard is referring to Molier because of funny moments in one of his plays called Tartuf, when ilmir Il Ilmier asks her husband to hide and observe to our food while Oregon watches in secret to our Food, reveals his lustful nature as he tries to seduce ilmir Oh lot of French names. I'm a cool rad.

If he's he can burrow me through through through whoa And that's how we end in pop culture. Scott, we apologize. I thought it was an excellent episode. Excellent listen. You need to get on the phone and rent that RV. I know you need to get on that. I'm gonna be so jealous, like the jealous pain will be real when you guys are like hanging with masks. Just just just show up. What's the big deal. We'll see it's a big deal. Get what about a private jet on

the excuse me? Do you have sixty dollars? I can borrow it doesn't cost sixty charter the coast. It is thousand dollars each way. It's not sixty dollars each way. Go to go to net jet or go to Really I don't fly private, but I have to get private planes for celebrities all the time. And it is don't you don't think you're worth it? You don't think you're worth it. I don't have sixty six dollars. I'm talking about a fortune off break. I do okay, I do okay,

And somebody please like thette. I cannot stand ter cigarette for God's sick. She's not a relax It's a very important lady. Uh Scott. Scott is funny, but I know how to butter my bread. Okay, we have to go. Somebody just sends a note we have to go because you have to record some commercials. We love you.
