I am all in. That's kiss you. I am all in with Scott Patterson and I Heart Radio Podcast. All right here, everybody, Scott Patterson, we are gonna talk to Adam Wiley. Uh. He appeared in season two, episode twenty one, Laurelized graduation Day. Um, and he's gonna join us for a little conversation. So, uh, let's bring him in. Is he waiting? Is he here? Hey, Adam High? How are you? I'm doing well? How are you doing, buddy? Well? You look like you're in some kind of three D world

and that's cool. I am. I am in a it's it's the blurry background setting. Oh that's cool, which is pretty fun. That's cool. So how are you doing? I'm so well? Are you? I'm doing well? So listen, um, thanks for coming on. Welcome to the to the show. We uh we just loved your performance, uh so far of what we've seen of taking all that abuse from Paris, and it was just wonderful to watch you were you

were true. So let me let me tell everybody a little bit about you, okay, and then we'll get into it. So listen to everybody. Adam Wiley played Brad Langford for a total of six episodes from two thousand one two thousand three. He was student Children and he leaves children and go to another school and reenters after being advised by his psychiatrist to face his fears quote unquote Paris. You know, so leaves for a brief period during season three to be a in a Broadway musical Into the Woods,

which you actually did do in your real life. That's that's the true story. That's a true story. The first time we see Adams episode nine, season two, Runaway little Boy, in the last seems that season three, episode twenty two, those are strings, Pinocchio. You're born in California. Started your acting career in candy commercials for her She's Chocolate. Soon he got more gigs and ended up over a hundred

fifty movies and TV. But your theater resume is unbelievable. Um, your ticket fences, you were Oh my god, I mean just talk about I mean, you're working, you're working in uh um. Um. You debuted as Jack and the Tony Award winning revival of Stephen Hunts Sondheim musical Into the Woods. Um. You were also met a referenced in Gilmore Girls two thousand having been done by the character Brad Langford in

that series. You also played Jack at the Amison Theater production in Los Angeles, and you've done a lot of regional theater Camelot, Big River. He played Huck Finn one ten in The Shade It's Jimmy Curry on the Town Footloose? Is Willard precious Son's house arrest is odd? Yeah? I mean my god. Plus, now you have a huge TikTok following, is that in my readings, you are not you are known for your magic, sketch comedy TikTok's I am to tell us about the little bit, tell us a little

bit about that. Well it You know, I joined TikTok because there was nothing else to do pandemic um And that's really where it started, is how can I still have a creative outlet when we're not really doing much in the world. So I thought, you know, what are my two things that I love most. I love magic, which is my hobby, and I it became a profession, but it started out with my hobby, and then I

love also acting and creating comedy and creating contents. So I decided to marry those two by um being able to perform these sketches by myself being the magician and my own spectator, with a character created called Gladys who kind of represents every single person, uh, that I've ever encountered during magic gigs or shows or or or what have you. So it's UM, it's been a wild ride and pretty amazing. I love doing it. What's your what's

your handle on TikTok's? Everybody can my handle on TikTok is? This is Adam Whiteley, So it's just my name with this is before all right, everybody go check it out. I'm gonna check it out too because I haven't seen it. I'm dying. It's fun. Oh, can't wait. So let's get into some Gilmore stuff. UM. So everybody loves your character. I mean, everybody in the show loves you. Same. Tell

us how you got the role? Oh? Man? So I had done UM a very short lived series called UM Love and Marriage with Amy Sherman Palladino and UM it was wonderful, such a great show and it lasted three episodes. We shot six episodes and UM when Gilmore Girls uh started, when she created it and stuff, she she gave my my repsical and she said, look, I've got this character called Brad. I love to bring Adam in for it because I just loved working with him so much. But

it's only five lines in one scene and that's it. Um, But would he consider I'm only bringing in a limited number of actors And I was like, yes, I would love to do that. I mean, I love you, that'd be That'd be awesome. So I went down there and I said my five lines, which was a lot of Hi, I'm I'm Brad from fifth period Shakespeare. That's pretty much every single line I had in the audition too, And I was like, okay, that was less than five minute audition.

Who knows. And I ended up getting the part. Filming UM the episode and I thought that was it and I was like, great, that was so much fun. Who was it? Who was in the room with the audition? Amy was there? And who else? Man? I remember, to be honest, I only think it was about It was probably about three or four people, but I don't really remember details of who actually was there. It was. It went by literally so fast that it was pretty crazy. But you were so she knew you were right for it.

When you're right for something and you just walk in, you open your mouth, and you get the job right away because you're just absolutely just right for it totally. I mean, I'm a big believer, and you get a percent of the jobs you were meant to happen. Yes, exactly. Um yeah, So what do you remember about your first day set on the set? Oh? Man, I remember that there was a delay. M I remember hanging out with

Chad Michael Murray a lot. Him and I had trailers next to each other, so we were sitting there on on the Warner Brothers lot and there was like they brought us in and something was happening with the scene before, and so there was a four hour delay and that was just me and Chad shooting the breeze and tossing a football for four hours. Pretty much was like my first day. Now, that was probably me causing trouble again, demanding re rights difficult actor that I am. Oh my god,

I'm just kidding. Maybe, who knows. I doubt it. Seriously. Nobody ever really questioned the writing, did they. It was like, you know, we were also just happy to be there and be saying those lines that it was like, I don't really I mean, you know, I think There were a couple of very minor discussions over the years, but they didn't last long. And um, yeah, the writing was just so good you didn't. It was just such an

easy job in that respect. And absolutely I remember getting specifically the script for when I came back from doing Into the Woods and Into the Woods was in the in the script and I howled laughing like I. Paris personally was at the time my favorite character because of how she behaved towards towards Brad and Um, I mean I just admired everything about it, about the writing, about performances, and was just laughing so hard at every single time

I would I would get a script, especially that one. Well, what was it like working with Liza? Oh gosh, she's I think, um as as you as you were aware of the audience may may or may not be. She's like the nicest person in the world. Um, which made it so much more fun because I felt so safe in the environment. Um, she was so wonderful. I remember accidentally, one time, I think it was the season three rap party, I accidentally smacked her across the face. It was an accident, like, okay,

so here's here's the story. There were appetizers being passed around, and I grabbed one and I went to turn and she happened to turn around at the same time, and I accidentally like ran into her with my aunt and I was like, so sorry, I'm so sorry, and she's and I think she said, no, it's okay. I think I deserve it, and then she smacked me back in such a funny and it was so it was such like a great moment that I only think her and I shared and no one else saw. That was just perfect.

That is That's a wonderful story. Did you did you nail are pretty good? Was it like a slacker or was it just like a It was I just grabbed something and I turned and I was like, because I didn't even know who I who, I accidentally like first know when it turned out to be her, I was like, of course, it's all psychological, isn't it. It's all yeah, absolutely, seeds were planted long ago, so what was you know.

One of our favorite lines was about when you said you you you tried to build a robot, but you were not successful. It's my favorite, my favorite line in the show. I love that line more than anything else. It's probably my dare I say my favorite line I've ever said. It's just I've never I've never built a robot, but you've tried, haven't you. Yes? Yes, When I read it, I went, yeah, yes, And it was probably you know,

a little him. He probably tried to clone himself to someone that wasn't as scared of anything, you know, I mean, like just genius. Such a great line. And I'll never forget that line or that scene, Like I will never forget filming that and reading that and just going, oh my onnic, what a home run that line was. Um, you know that scene and your character was named one of the most underrated characters in the series by the fandom. What would you have loved to see more of Brad

doing in the series? Alright? So I know that I was supposed to do a few more episodes, but I actually left to do Into the Woods. Um, and I was actually guest starring on another TV show at that same time in New York. Um, here's what I envisioned for Brad. I would have hoped that Brad would have become this kind of Broadway star in a way, and and done more theater and followed his career and then

ended up marrying Paris. I just think that that would have been so funny, and that she's still bossing him around. That is brilliant. That's brilliant. They love each other. Now who else? I mean who who better? Yeah? Exactly, And I just think that would have been so wow funny to say that's that's what I own visioned. And maybe when they when we do the prequel, we can order whatever. Maybe I don't know, maybe who knows. Um, that's a great idea. That's a great story arc great. It really is,

it really is. I mean it's just like the laughs because you're so ill suited for one another. But really, that's that's when the magic really happens, doesn't it. It's because I I I you know, I've um people from my high school end up getting married. It shocks you because they were just the polar opposites, and you know they're happily married. But absolutely, Yeah, you have an amazing amount of projects that you work on. What's your favorite?

Oh man? I mean, I'm one of those people who feels bad if I pick a favorite, because then I'm like all of the others must feel bad. You know, I love it. Let's go. I no, no, no, I'm not allowing this. I'm not allowing them. Let's go pick a favorite. Come on, okay, be bold, and mighty forces will come to your favorite category. Though, favorite each category. That's just how I am. Let's forget the question. No,

go ahead, sorry, all right. So, if I'm going to pick a favorite, like Basic Voiceover Project of All Time, you'd be playing Peter Pan in Jake and the Netherland. Such an iconic character. Amazing. Um. If I had to pick a favorite musical I've done, I would say, um, out of everything, really, playing Huck Finn and Big River was my dream role and being able to do that was incredible. If I had to pick a favorite TV show, I'd simply say Picket Fences because I learned how to

act on that show. It was such an amazing ensemble that I was so young. Um, the stuff that I took from every single person in that show was life changing and really shaped my career for everything else. When you're on show and I was, I was thirteen when it ended. Yeah, there were six year old after seven seven, six, seven eighth. I was eleven when it ended, So I was seven, Oh my god, yes, was seven. It just turned seven. Yeah, pretty crazy. I know, I where who

am I? It's weird when you're only you know, as old as I am, which is seven. You're thirty seven years old and you can say I've been in the industry for thirty two years. That's weird. That's a weird thing to say. And so you had so you were were your parents involved in the business at all? How did you get involved in the business. One of my older brothers was doing theater and it was kind of like one of those like pay to play type of things.

Happened to be an agent the audience recruited him when I was born. I was like, why is he gone so much? Well, he does acting. I was like, I want to do the acting. I want to be gone too. I want to be gone, you know. So I did and it worked out well, and you would be gone. Man, I've gone done. No one saw him again. We have to talk about the iconic Disney movie under Wraps. You've been working on a sequel. Uh, what can we expect this time around? Well, um, they remade the project, so

there was a remake of the project last year. This is a sequel on the remake. So I'm not going to be Gilbert. That I can say, I'm not going to be my old character, but um, what I do in the movie I'm not fully allowed to say. But I can say that you will enjoy it and it's really fun. Um, and I really enjoyed working on it.

I just think that it's really cool to be a part of the franchise again for a new generation after having kicked off all of the Disney Channel original movies, which is crazy to say that I was in like the first one ever. That's awesome. Um, so you are the CEO of Magic Sketch Comedy. Tell us a little bit more about that. Okay, Well, that's basically basically based on my my my TikTok YouTube and Instagram, and um,

the characters all happen by accident. I was sitting there in my mother in law's house and I had this great idea for her video and I was like, oh, but I would need to play the woman I'm talking to. How can I do that? Oh, she's got some wigs somewhere hidden around. I wonder if she'll let me borrow a wig. So I did, and I made the first one and it went really well, and I thought, you know, my magic isn't doing well on social media? How do

I spice it? Wasn't? It was terrible? How do I spice this up so that I can, um make it better? And I started making these sketches based on it's loosely based on things I've actually heard. So there's always something in every video I've actually heard, but the entire sequence, most of the time didn't happen that way. Um, I kind of manipulate the situation to be a little more far fetched fetched and outlandish than it really actually did.

And um, so I've created this whole world, um which just me and the character Gladys who is my spectator, and we have I mean, I just have so much fun coming up with these sketches and people, actually, I feel even though I have my my scruffy beard and this wig on and it's clearly me, people sometimes forget

it's me. Are you doing so? You're doing a different voice, right, You're doing a different character, I mean a little bit, a little a little bit okay, yeah, she's more like this, thanks, you know, but she's she's she's really fun, you know, and she says outlandish, outlandish stuff. And I have a blast creative and then finally people are like, oh, well he's actually really good at magic. I was like, yes, thank you, I appreciate you. And you're also really funny.

I'm like, thank you so much. So I really get a kick out of when people notice both things. You know, it's really fun. And what's interesting is that the magic tricks that are really really clean I've noticed people don't really care about. They're like, yeah, if the audience has an inkling that they know what happened, or that they can kind of detect what happened, the videos blow up because then all of a sudden, people are part of almost an inside joke, which I've noticed is very fun

and very cool. Um, that's great, So what's next for you? What is next? Well, just shut under Wraps two and I'm super excited for that. Um continuing to do my magic Sketch comedy and also recently appeared on Lucifer Season six, episode one, so you guys can also check that out where I happen to play a magician for like only the third time in my life. Well, that sounds like you are well on your way to have a Las

Vegas review that character would Wouldn't that be great? Though, would you be able to do a stage version of it? The characters as a stage version? I could? You know? Within with with big budgets comes creativity, so I'm sure you could find a way to make anything work. I mean we this is we can do whatever. Are you ready for rapid Fire? I'm gonna fire questions, ask you fire answers back at me. Here we go, rapid fire. How many cups of coffee do you have in a day?

Are you team Logan? Jesser? Dean? Oh no, oh no, Dean? Who's your favorite Gilmore girl's character? What would you order it? Luke Steiner? A coffee and a slice of pot? Would you rather go on a road trip with Taylor or Michelle? Oh no, that's not fair. Life isn't fair, young man? Taylor, follow the lyric quote and where you lead, I will follow dot dot dot? What's the answer? Cautiously? Anywhere that you tell me too? Sure? Shared is shared? Uh? Jackson's

vegetables are Suki's baked goods? Would you rather listen to Drella's Harper the Troubadours cover songs? Chi Chilton Prep or Stars Hollow High? Come on? Chilton favorite Gilmore? That was a quiet. It was a serious question. Favorite Gilmore Girl's memory. Oh man, probably uh the graduation episode and getting to sing and making up the bong bong part and having that stay in the show fantastic. All right, well, I'll that'll be later on. I'll be looking forward to that one.

Adam really enjoyed it. I hope you come back. Um, please me to take a little more time next time, but good luck with everything. You've had such a wonderful career and it's going to be exciting to see what you do in the future, because man, you have quite the resume, young man, you really really do. Um. And I will uh go to TikTok at. This is Adam

Wiley and check out these videos. I am intrigued because I have a sketch comedy head attached to these shoulders and I'm always writing bits and I do not know how to perform them. And I'll try to figure it out. Maybe you will inspire me. Thank you so much, Thank you so much for coming on. And have a great rest of your day, buddy, thanks for having me. I appreciate you.
