I am all in. Oh that's you. I am all in with Scott Patterson an I Heeart radio podcast. Hi kids, Hi hie, Oh my god, happen Luke can see your face? What is going on with the episode? Wow? I mean, there's a lot of pack, so many words. There's just too much to even deal with. It's so much. You said when you just said when Luke can see your face? I literally was like, yeah, I know you can. My camera's on. And then oh my god, that's the title of the episode or not Luke. That must be a
stay on the street. People on the streets say Luke. Yeah. Yeah, they say Luke. Yeah. Tori Spelling said she answers to Donna, so you can answer them. I do, I do. I look and I turn and there they are. You know, it's wonderful. It's all wonderful. But why Wow, what an episode? Wow? Season four just taken over all right. Here's the synopsis. Luke decides to make some changes in his love life after listening to an inspiring tape and reading books about love.
Liz and tj announced are going to get married and have a Renaissance themed wedding in the town square. Then Jess comes into town and admits he's trying to avoid Rory after dropping the L word. Lori lia is stressed out about the breakup and the end and stresses everyone else too. Meanwhile, Paris makes a decision about her and Asher's future. Did anyone knows? At the end? On Netflix, it said like, two more episodes left of the season
when you hit next? Did you notice that? No? Yeah, so you know how like it always like speeds through and it's like, oh, like I can hit next. They said two more left of season, like two more episodes left of season four. I was like, well, this is exciting it and Netflix says that it takes all my season to end. It has all my strength to not watch the next one. Yeah, you can't do it. You can't do it. It will quit. Scott, is it coming back to you? Like? No, none of this. I remember
none of this. I remember God, and least of all I the strip club shocked me. I couldn't believe that I did that scene. And I just don't remember any of it. I don't remember any of it. I don't remember. This was literally your episode. Like there's a lot of luke, a lot of luke. This is luke this whole episode is Luke like, it's all you WoT next? Oh really, I don't even want to say. Here's the thing. This goes to show how great Lauren is because she had
to do that. She has to carry every show, right, She's in like more scenes than anybody. Yeah, and it's hard to do it. You know, it's like really hard to be in so many scenes because of the you know, the tone that you have to hit and if and if you're off on one scene and I think, and we'll get into this because I was. I think I was really off on one particular scene that we'll talk about. I can't wait to hear about. Well, we'll we'll you know,
hash it out when we get there. But but it's hard to really kind of lay out that sort of
game plan. When you get the script and you see her on all these scenes, it's like, you know, it's you can fall into you know, these inevitable acting sort of traps um if there are so many scenes and you don't really plot your course through you can't wait to hear about the like inside Baseball and I'm laughing, yeah, because we had sales called us yesterday and they were like, do you have a show where your home don't agree, And I was like, I'm on it. It is called
I'm all it. We all disagree. I already was laughing because I'm already like, disagree, disagree. Oh anyway, all I have to do is listen to like any of the episodes. But I don't. I can't wait to hear because I'm going to see if we noticed it or if you're just like hard on your performance. I hope you're not, because you were outstanding. Oh no, I'm gonna I'm gonna tear myself a new one. One particular scene. The rest
I'm fine with. Okay, I'm gonna be the one with the boom box because literally I wrote down phenomenal performance in that. Scott just entertained me for a good long amount of time with a boom box. It's a good point. If I was an actor, I would think that would be the hardest scene ever her and effing nailed it. I was like, I am not bored. I completely believe it everything. I was like, he is acting with a tape recorder. I wonder you that's the one that is
not the scene I'm referring to. I enjoyed that scene too. That's that you are great, that's thank you. That's active listening. Active listening. Um, so listening. That's like what teachers say, right, So what does that mean? You're listening like you're in it because you're listening. It's just thinking the thoughts. It's like thinking the thoughts the character would think in that situation, and the thoughts are always changing. And acting is listening.
It's listening. It's reacting to what you're listening to in the moment and being truthful. That's all that scene comes across across so believable because you're in it, like you're really listening to I'm connected to that tape recorder. Wow, And what is coming out of it? Yeah? Is it not acting? Is it just living? Yeah? I guess it's yeah. You try to do that living thing. Sometimes it's it's hard in the acting, you know, I know we're getting
a little wonky, but it's interesting. I'm I'm interested. Yeah, it's I don't know. I think if you can live the role, it's better, right, Not that you have to. I mean there's a lot, there's a lot of press. Brian cox Is is after Jeremy strong succession. He's like this guy won't let it go on set, and it's like two methody. It's like what Dustin Hoffman did in
Marathon Man and Laurence Olivier criticized. It's like, yeah, you know, young man, just learn how to act, you know, you don't have to live it, you know, twenty four seven, that kind of thing. But it's like everybody has their process, right, every you've got to respect everybody's process. So, um, and you can't argue with the results right from from what Jeremy Strong's doing. And and I know Brian and I know how gifted an actor he is, um and and
so he just has a process. But he's been doing it a lot longer than Jeremy Strong's been doing it, right, Um, So maybe one day Jeremy Strong got to that point where he it's just you know, part of his process is not living it all the time on set, but that's just how he works. Yeah, well, and I want to and you gotta respect it. That's what I was going to say, A commitment. Yeah, people do what they're gonna do, just if it's even if it's not your
way right right right. I don't know, I feel like and I could be wrong about Lauren because I don't know her, but I feel like there's a lot of Laura Lae in Lauren, even just when I see her in interviews. I'm like, that's a lot of lorel And we do know you. There's a lot of Luke in Scott. Yeah. And I stayed in character, you know, while I was on set because it was it was so far away from me and that you know, that energy and that type of concentration. I had to maintain it throughout the
shooting day. Yeah, yeah, I kind of let if you let it go. Man, It's just like and then after nine years and coming back doing the episode the Netflix thing, man, I had no clue. I was scared. Interesting. I don't know this guy anymore. I've changed so much and maybe he's changed so much, but it took me a little bit to get him back, get the scent back. Yeah. How many years later? Was it? Nine? I can't wait
to break down the movies. But yeah, so Laura lies a cat lady, I guess we'll start that was that was good stuff, really funny, good cat acting. And I will say the phone call acting does not bother me on this show. It's like I'm used to it. It doesn't take me out like it's fine. Well, they do it so often that you know people are bound to get great at it. But it's still but it's still it's still that Gilmore cadence. It's still the Gilmore energy,
it still has the humor. Can you remember if you I mean, you don't have as many it'd more be a question for Alexis and Lauren what phone calls? Did they do them together? So they would shoot it with just another person a stand in or whatever? Well, yeah, or you know, somebody reading off camera, because you know if usually those two were there all the time so
they can give each other the lines. I mean, there weren't a lot of off days for either one of them, so they were together in the scenes all the time. So but now that they're splitting it up and doing this different locations in Yale and Lorialize at our house,
So that's different, right. Can you imagine if in real life they did I mean I believe that they totally love each other, but can you imagine if you were in that many scenes together working together with someone you did not like, oh I've done that, I've done that. It's hard. That's acting. Yeah. I mean it's like working with somebody you don't like either, like deal with it the same same. Yes, I'm trying to think if there's anyone we work with that I really don't like, but
I can't think of it. I mean other than down, you know, I really don't like Amy was like, I must really love Amy. We call each other at ten pms and no, we all actually love each other. And Scott included, you should see our text, chambe I think we should. Like people saw our text, they would just kee their pants. They would actually, did anyone notice like the little itty bitty cell phone, Like it's so weird to me, like raise a little itty dy right? It
wasn't it a flip phone? Isn't a little tiny flip phone? I feel like hers was even like not a flip phone. It was just like this idiot I had a phone one time before they were like, you know, before you did emails, and I saw it was a little one inch like it was just a little um okay. Relatable hashtag relatable Lorelai leaving herself messages of the things she has to do. Do you guys, ever, text yourself to remind yourself of things I've done that. Yeah, Oh, I
just put in my notes page. Well I don't know how to use that, but if I'm yeah, I do that. But like sometimes I just text myself because if it's like a link too, I just text myself. Like literally, yesterday, I'm laying on my couch here in my office and it's two thirty and my phone goes off if there's an alert, and I pick it up and I'm like, I'm all like groggy, and I'm like, because I was up early with my son and all that stuff, and so I look at it says podcasting. Oh no, David
tay Luis. So I ran in the kitchen, you know, and oh is that when you texted us and you're like, is there a podcast? I was out of it, man, I was nodding out. I can't wait for people to listen to that on this week though. We can tell you is We got a text from Scott after that said that was epic. He's epic. It was because this morning we had one of these this morning and we
call it Gilmore. They call it I a AI I am, and I call it Gilmore and I'm like Gilmore at ten and then someone's like we rescheduled it, and I'm like to what, like it was literally who's on first to ten? Well it is said ten ten, we resled it. Danyelle's email hasn't been working. I can't even talk about it. It's gonna really put me in a spiral if we talk about it. Here's what I want to say, Here's
what I want to say. Uh. When I took away one of the things I took away from this episode was how on earth did Michael and David day Louise and even Peter Day Louise did not get their own series together? I don't know. They are hysterical, Scott. I literally agree because I was thinking this last night, right, because I was like reading the transcripts from your interview with David. Right, It's like the three of them were amazing. Oh does Peter too, I mean, and in such a
different way. Twenty one Jump Street was like freaking iconic, right, and they all look exactly this. Well. But but the thing is they're they're all such strong personalities, they're all so incredibly talented. They're also really funny guys and good guys. Totally. Why didn't somebody sit them down and say, let's make a deal. You guys need to either have your own sitcom or your own single camera comedy show. Tara, it would be Brotherly Love the adult version. Ye who dropped
the ball on that some network? And it's really not too It's not too late, you know. I mean, I know, I think Michael's not acting anymore. He emailed. I think he emailed one of us that he's like just not acting anymore. That's just soft. And this was like David is on fire. The strip club scene was hysterical. I laughed so hard. You know, the good host too. I cannot wait for people to hear you guys, it's an illusion.
We'll get to it. I got so many mud questions a couple of years before Wizards of Waverley Place too. So yeah, because that was in two thousand and seven, Is that right? Yeah? I think seven or a. Do you think it's possible that they didn't want to work together? No, I don't. I know, I don't either. I don't think so. No. Hey, everyone, it's Bethany Frankel. We are reliving the best moments from all the seasons of the Real Housewives on my new podcast Rewives from the Table Flip New Jersey to the
craziest hills of Beverly. No city will be spared. And I'm joined by my most fabulous celebrity friends that you will never expect to help me break down the drama. Kristin Channawi, Tori Spelling, Jerry Springer, Snookie, even Emmy winner Elizabeth Moss. The list goes on and on. So let's whoop it up and mention it all because you can binge episodes of rewives right now with so much more to come. Listen to rewives on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you listen to your podcasts. One thing about the
opening credits, Milo was in them. There's that that you yeah, that you know right away Milo and Jared are in this episode. I was just like, oh, heck yeah, stoved. Couldn't be like I literally wrote it down Milo on opening credits exclamation points like Danielle wait, tell me when this episode aired again. It aired on May fourth, two thousand. Sweeps. Dude, sweeps, they know how to bring it sweeps. Yeah, okay, so it's almost like every every episode in the season four
has been a sweeps episode. I totally agree. So okay, So then we go Luke's opening the diner. Lore lies on the steps. She's all jacked up on coffee, right, like she she's already had the coffee, and then she ran out right, yes, yeah, this is a mess. And you make her eat oatmeal? I mean right away. We're just seeing their connections. Yeah, yeah, they were. They had
a nice flow together. They just have a nice flow together. Yeah, you know, um, because she's tough enough to take his grumpiness, yeah, and his sarcasm, and but vulnerable enough to be delight a delight, you know what I mean? And ell and light King wants the one table right then realizes the lighting over there is pretty good? Right? Did this stand
out to anybody else? How dressed up she is? I mean she's wearing heels, like for all of us, like after the pandemic, Like hard pants, you're like, who wears literally wearing sweatpants as we speak, the same a fool sweat set, Like how are you wearing sweatpants or hard pants? Oh yeah, I never wear hard pants. If we go out to sushi or something, I'll put on some hard pants. But around the house, forget about it. Yea. And where tracks is Harry? Because it's like it really stood out
to me. Now how pansy she is and then those heels, I mean, she looks amazing. Like, yeah, shout out to everybody who like joins me in being obsessed with this fashion and thank you for telling me where to get things because she's dressy, especially her five am I know. Wait, Okay, so then we go to the inn and Michelle's on the floor, which just was relatable. Again, I'm like, when you're opening up something, how many times have we all
just been on the floor a day? So many like we have so many jobs where there's just nothing there and you literally like have a laptop and he was like on the cement. I remember one time my therapist told me, like a great way to like decompress for your stress, and I actually have done this before is you lay on the floor and you put your legs up in like a tabletop position on the couch and like like you put your legs up like yeah, yeah, saying, so your your body's on the floor, but your legs
are on the couch. Okay, just sit there and it like helps you like distress. You know what else you can do is like is you can take these deep breaths and just sort of let them out, like just like just so you empty everything out. That's an acting exercise laxation. Actually, what you just described is you get on your back and you put your legs up on the couch and you take deep breasts and just and you go ruh and you just let everything out. You do like twenty times your high as a kite from
from the hyperventilation, and you're relaxed as hell. So you can get in front of a camera and just sort of chill. Wait, should we all do it right now? Everyone in their car? Absolutely ready? Did you say in the car? Everyone in the car, everyone on their walks. Oh, but you make it sound you make it sound like a hippopotamus. Have you ever been in a yoga class where they make you like exhale loud? Yes, you're just like Scott. That reminds me you would have been great
in like finding Nemo. You sound like dor Let's do another one? Here? Shall we? Here? You're go there you go? You know what else? It's so funny, how like things that make you feel dorky. I want everyone to do it right now, because whenever I do a workout and they're like pose, pose and I just skip them anyway.
So okay, So then Luke comes in and he's analyzing the stairs with Tom, and Tom's all peoed about it, and you guys are like, I'm not kid it singing right right, don't don't come in here and kim its and then oh, you don't usually see you know, you don't usually see Luke back on his heels like that, you know, no, which is which is why, which is why Tom is such a good like sort of Luke surrogate dad totally and an extension of Luke because he
respects him. He's he's a workingman. Right. Then we get to what could be one of my favorite things ever in all of Gilmore Girls. We go in and shell shall I couldn't tell the shell the peltry supplier, the shell sauceman or whatever, Yes, the poultry, and clearly Suki's trying to like hook them up and lower light and then the physical comedy body language between Scott and Lauren slash Luke Lorelei. I literally was like it was so hilarious.
I mean when she's putting her armor in my armor, yeah, and it's just all it's like hilarious and awkward and amazing and then like she's all, don't touch my stomach. Hey, what's this thing between I guess there's a thing between Luke and Suki. They don't like each other too much, because hey, look, you know she wasn't happy to see him. I think they're mad. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe him behind the k is there supposed to be. I don't know. I was only in the show for
one hundred years, so how would I know. But I think they're good. But I think they have their moments because they're both in the culinary world, so yeah, little competition. But he comes by to check out the kitchen. He's curious. He's providing support. You know, he's not stealing ideas. He's not like Steve job jobbing it going into Honeywell and stealing the laptop idea or whatever. There was one part in this scene that confused me. I'm sure, pretty sure.
It's the scene that Luke didn't know that she was in a relationship. I don't know why I thought that he knew. Luke didn't know that Laura yeah with um digger. Oh yeah, because she kept it kind of on the d L. I guess because he came to town and like him and Luke kind of had that moment. I assumed out right, yeah, we're sneaking around to say the least,
you know. Like I think just in that moment, because of that scene in the car, like from a couple episodes ago, I was like, wait, he didn't know they're in a relationship. But it's just like yeah, like don ll males like, oh, also doesn't I think on subconscious level that's sort of inten Yeah that's me. But yeah, I agree, I'm no simund Smund, right, I think I'm
a therapist. Yeah. I felt like she doesn't want him to know, and she doesn't want to know about it guts her every time she has to know about his stuff. You don't remember the cruise and the marriage and the divorce and how she was just so devastated. It's like yeah, whoa, yeah, yeah that's true. Yeah. The funniest part lest we stop cutting each other with our knives. The funniest part is
when they're they're talking. So after the sort of physical awkward and then everybody leaves and it's just Luca Lorela and then they like are talking and I think something like, you're not destined to be alone and something about doctor but you have shell and then you'd never want for chicken. Oh god, their banter is as good as anybody's. He can keep up. I venture to say this is the best written episode, potentially of all Gilmour episodes. I agree.
Maybe maybe you're right. Oh god, no, unbelievable. Okay, So now you got you got a double barrel of Palladino's writing cranking it out. That is like the that's lethal, that's not even fair. Yeah, it's like stop, Okay, we can only handle that once in a while. Yep, I agree with you. It's too good. Okay. So then we go to Asher, which I thought he looked handsome. I get it. Why the ladies love it. It's Michael Yorke. He's the most dashing, charming actor ever. Yeah, he looks good.
I'm telling you go look go look at those old photos of him and Raquel Welsh and three Musketeers. I mean, the guy you forgot to do that. The guy's dashing. People don't like when I google stuff while we're on But dashing and talented and charming, and what do you think of him asking Paris to go to Oxford Oh why wouldn't he. I'm indifferent about it because I obviously don't want them to be a real thing. But I'm kind of like, oh, that's a big thing. If he
invited her to go to Oxford. Yeah, maybe he does like her. Well, I don't want to jump ahead, but wow, when when we get to the hospital, we'll save it. But like, yow. Hey everyone, it's Dean Unglert and Kayla Miller Keys and jaredhyn I'm I'm here. I'm here too, guys, hosts of the new podcast. Help we suck at being newlyweds because I guess we just don't suck at dating anymore. No, I mean you're newly weds. I am not a newlywed anymore. Yeah, I'm curious if I sucked at being a newlywed. I
don't think so. I mean, I'm made it to the altar, and I am so happy to be joining you, guys. I can't wait to talk about relationships, marriage and just everything in between. It's about time we have someone smart to join this podcast. It's too long between us. This young lady's a broadcast journalism major. She knows what she's doing. I'm so excited to be hosting a podcast with my soon to be wife and of course my best friend Jared. How's that going to make you feel? Working together? Now
you guys live together, we're together, going to get married. Yeah, it'll be interesting. You think you need to get tired of each other? Absolutely? Yes, be sure to listen to help. We kept being nearly LEDs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts. Oh my god,
Oh my god. Okay, So then we have the scene with Luke at the bookstore hiding it, didn't want anyone to see, and then when he grabs the boombox, I'm like, oh my god, what's happening and pops out the old cassette. That's my favorite part is that it was an audio tape with the workbook. Yeah he's really trying. Uh So I thought this scene was like brilliant and I just wrote, this must be so hard to do, Like how hard was that to do? Just listen? You just listen. Are
they playing the tape back for you? Like? Are they playing that exact audio? Oh? That's good. I think that they were, And I think that boombox actually worked. Wow? Was the boom box miked, I can't. No, I don't remember that, but I do think that I was getting, you know, the tape. I was. I was hearing it, and because I think I insisted on it, I said, I want to hear yeah, yeah, yeah, it because because
because how else can I respond? Yeah? And it was so over the top it was great, like, yeah, now I have a weird job that I don't think Jackie, Jackie, I have all the faith in you. Jack He's our producer. Who is the voice on the tape? I was wondering question and I didn't start doing a deep dive. I'm going to guess it was Christian Bail. Oh they got Christian Bail. Is find outable a word, because I think it's gonna be find outable. It's not, it's now it is.
It is so Scott. Can you when you watch that where you like, huh really good? Yeah? I liked it. I enjoyed it. I thought, yeah I did. I thought I did a commendable job. I thought I was pleased. I mean, I was like, this has to be hard, and that was legit because I believed every second of it. Yeah, I look, I didn't have a problem with any of it except for one scene, Oh, I'm nervous, but we'll get I'm nervous, so okay. So then Dean's working late
and we have the epic Lindsay Dean fight. Yeah that was uncomf Yeah, you know, I got aside with Lindsay on this one though, because oh no, no is working. No no, no, okay, okay, hold on, guys, hold on the fact that she's like, I want to go on this double date with you, Like she is recognizing that
something is not right in their marriage. Like she's saying that she's bored that Dean never calls her and that she that he never thinks about her, and all she wants him to do is to go on this double date and he can't do it, and he's working because he's trying to get her what she wants. I call b s because if he really wanted to go, he would have gone out of work on time or whatever. Like, if he truly wanted to go on that double date and spend time with her, he would make it happen
like he does with Rory. You know, I'm saying so like in this situation, I was kind of like, oh, Lindsay is definitely recognizing that something's off and that I know something's off. He's playing pac Man all that. No, I know totally, but she's just kind of like calling his bluff. You know, she's calling his bluff right now. But that's highly addictive. Pac Man's highly addictive. That's not
his fault when you put it that way. About the double date that I agree with, I think it was more of her line of like, I'm at home all day and I'm bored, and he's like, well, I'm working. That's the part that bothered me because yeah, but it's but what she's saying is that called a check up on me and she he does not care. He doesn't care, Yeah at all, he does care. No, he doesn't. He is not he's not getting that. He's not that indoor anymore. But he does care because he's feeling like, I am
working all day long because you want a townhouse. No, he's working all day long because he doesn't want to be with her. Oh, I understand. Like if I totally agree with that, I don't know. I think I think he's trying both sides. Yeah, Scott, what do you think. I think what's gnawing at him is the fact that he has Rory concerned about his long term future with his education, and he's probably you know, thinking he should get back to college because she's right, right, I mean,
if he gets a degree. And I know this triggers a lot of people in our in our audience about you know, my opinion on education. But you know, even if it doesn't lead to a high paying probably still think it's a good idea. Uh. And you know, there are a lot of ways to get an education without going into tremendous amount of debt, right, you can, there's there's a lot of you know, you can go to
the library and read on your anyway. Anyway. I just think that what's gnawing at him is is the fact that Rory has a long term vision for him and it's not necessarily selfish, but it's for his own being, his own happiness, his own long term happiness, his own good and that's powerful, right, because it's not attached to
a romance anymore. And maybe a budding roman you know, the romance is springing up again, but you know, and plus on top of the fact that he's working that extra job and getting that extra money because she wants a townhouse. But he should not. But the thing is I kind of agree with Danielle because he should want the townhouse too for them. Yeah yeah, so why is he settling and not doing the extra things it takes and then being the great husband and checking in and
all that. So you know, I kind of see both points of view. Just too young. Like if he was working late too, would he be like, hey, I call her instead of her showing up like hey, I'm so sorry, Like I'm gonna be working late tonight like you'd usually give. Just working he's like doing manual labor, like horror ass work. And the last thing he's like, well, let me go call my wife while I'm like literally yeah, but they're newlyweds, yeah, thirty years. Also he doesn't if you we already know this.
If you say you're gonna be home at six pm, and you're not gonna be home at six pm, like you've deserved like your significant other, he's waiting for you, deserves to get a call. Hey, I'm not gonna be home till nine. I'm gonna work extra hours just to save a little bit more. That is the right thing to do. Yeah, communication is key. Lack of communication. No, I like though I stand strong on this flag on
the play. We're gonna call a time out and we're gonna go to Thank you, Scott, thank you so much so Danielle. Yeah, her husband, I'm gonna give you two scenarios, who works his ass off and is in the concert business, so those shows go late. Drama happens all day, always sends me a text, right, but he's working late, but he tells me he's gonna be home late. Issue was just he's not calling her my issues. He doesn't care like we saw this episode. But God, no way, and
I hope, I hope this isn't cringe. But we do not know what's going on behind closed doors so to speak. Right, No, that's so we don't know if that activity is ongoing or it's just stopped. Correct I I think Scott, that's not cringe. That you make a good point in that the mother's always around. She's fully nagging him, like it's way too much like June Cleaver making the picnic basket whatever. It's just also shout out to everybody who reminded us of the episode, Oh my god, when Rory the old
TV show they watched, it's the names out of my head. Um, everybody knows it's listening, don't get mad. Shout out to that because that was an excellent point. Everyone's like, Dean loves this life where he's you know, um, it's not Doris Day, Who was it, Scott? Come on, come on, I know no. So remember the episode Donna Dancing on Donna her name is shown red. So shout out to those people because that was a great call out that, like, Dean loves the Donna Reed show life. So he does
like that with the picnic basket and the lunch. But I think he thought he liked it. Oh yeah, from back then he didn't like it, right, because Rory did that whole deal. Yeah, but just that point, he doesn't like it, don't doesn't like it, right, so he doesn't like Lindsay, I get it, but also right, I think Scott cringe. There's no bomb chicken, Yeah, which is very concerning being that they're like nineteen years old. He's not lying and that rabbit mom's always around yeah too. Yeah,
I don't know. I don't know, right, we go too far yet again, broken down Lindsay and Dean. Yeah to the as yeah as you can, but we just don't know. We just don't know. It's like messy. Yeah. So then Lukes and his truck with the audio tape and upcomes his sister and TJS. I love them. That was a terrific scene, the renaissance weathering, the two of them coming in with all that energy and positivity and happiness and celebration. And we're getting married next week right here in the
town square. We have nothing ready, but we're getting married, and you're getting be my best man. And then he's like, obviously, there's four hundred and twelve people ahead of you. You're not my best man's, but you are invited to the bat and then he goes, wait a minute, I smell beer and he goes off. Physical The physicality is what kills me with Michael day Louise. The physicality is so great, the voice to the what a great characterization. Geez, man,
there should have been more of him, you know. That's the thing. It's like, gosh, why isn't there more of him? You know? And then you are being really sweet to your sister. Yeah, like yeah, you really are. Luke's being really sweet and you know, and then we find out that Jess isn't coming, and that's obviously like, I think we saw far more vulnerable Luke in this episode. He was soft around the edges in a lot of places.
You know, Yeah, because you're trying to better yourself and you're trying to figure out love making his family happy. Like he's the one who went out, like Liz didn't go to Jess's apartment like Luke what he wants to make it work and and Jess comes because of because of Luke. Yeah, we have to talk about that apartment where we will disgusting. But first it's like Lorely and Marie eating is one of the most unbelievable things. First of all, nothing is grosser to me than a chicken
chow mate sandwich. I did agree with that? Is that? Is that noodles in a sandwich like that? Yeah, that's really good. What I've never heard of such thing. Have you ever put spaghetti? Yes, oh that's good spaghetti. That's sandwich. But that's the same thing. It's just different flavor. Yeah, the flavors are different. Wait, you've put spaghetti left over spaghetti the next day and put it into sandwich bread and just oh you grind it. It's so good. Yeah,
how many carbs are you guys? Eating many. But it's a lot, I guess and wanna and I don't have to worry. Way you have to try that now, dude, I don't even know just one bite is there in there? Like sphett could be it can anything about it? When you eat spaghetti, you like have a garlic bread or you know, like eat chicken chow mate sandwich. Why not where the funniest part is there's a call back to it, So like, yeah, we learn about it and then I think Luke says it again if he says it's a
Jess right, so are like he says it again? Yeah, yeah, I think Jess is getting Yeah. So they were eating nutter butters, tizza, chips and what were they eating during the scene though it looked like they were putting like wads of gum in their mouth or something. What were they eating? Well, what was that? Was it taffy? Was it salt water? Go back and look, yeah, we got to go back. She kept like breaking Lola kept breaking off this white sort of stretchy thing and shove it
in her mouth. Combo that was gagging. But if it was like the Abba zappas or something. And we learned that there's no Friday Night Dinner. Oh canceled, Yeah, especially after last week, Like I thought that was a great like follow up to the last week's episode of just like they're not even in the episode, so like something's
going on. So I have a question. So because they canceled Friday Night Dinner, they did a movie night, there's they're still using VHS tapes, like we're DVDs not a thing in two thousand and four, I think it was like I think that's why I think, Yeah, I think you could kind of go either way, like yeah, it was like the yeah really really so I remember the red Box was starting to be a thing. Oh yeahs was still think two thousand and four. I'm trying to
think I was just when did Blockbuster? Yeah? Also, while you guys look for house, Oh my god, Laura's wearing this blouse that says it's only rock and roll. Two thousand and ten, where is that yahouse? Yeah, two thousand and ten was the end of Blockbuster. Yes, two thousand and four it was. I think it was like two thousand and four was like if the movie was already out, you had a VHS. The newer movies were turning into DVDs.
So you were kind of in the middle. I just heard if you still have your original Back to the Future in the packaging VHS, it's worth like five hundred dollars. I have all the Disney vhss, which apparently is worth a lot if they have a special symbol on it. So I need to go have the symbol. I need to go. I have a box of just vhs Disney VHS, so I need to go through. That was a Mark Jacobs blouse. I believe, Wow, chic, super cool Mark Jacobs. Oh no, that's a pink rocker t that said, it's
only rock and roll. So I still don't know totally who did the blouse. I'm um it might be Mark Jacobs. Also also, I will say something about your stylus on this show. The fashion is much more expensive than Rory and Lorla. I have the money for they are. I mean when Rory was wearing the Moncler vest, I still have regard. Yeah, little cafeteria and her vest was seven hus. Well maybe it was in Emily and Richard present. True. True, Actually that's a great point. They have a lot of money,
so they could get closed anyway. Um, should we have chef right or make a chicken chamming sandwich. Here, I have the episode pulled up. Do we want to see what they're eating? Of course we do. Um, okay, can you see this, I'll look at that blouse? Okay, yeah, so what yeah? What do they have? Chinese food? Plus there are butter sandwiches, but they were eating the nutter butter. No, no, no, she's she's she's gonna start eating something there she goes,
she's getting it on. Oh yeah, oh I feel like eating. No, I'm talking there, it is? What is? Then? It's nothing? The fake eating is on a scale of fake eating, it's a five. It's not the worst, but it's it's not good. You don't think they're eating. They're fake eating. There's a lot of like putting in your hand and like moving your hands with it in it. Yeah, like who eats a nutter? What is Rory eating? There? She's eating a nutter butter right, or a sandwich. But here's
the thing. If you have to do multiple takes of that scene and you have to eat during that scene, you're not going to eat very much. That's Ory eating. Like Rory's fake eating is so weird. And what is that? It's a nutter? Butter with marshmallows. Yeah, that's that's small art. Look. I did a scene once We're a breakfast scene where I ate pancakes and I was famished. The character what didn't say it was fanished, but I acted like I was fanished. I did do that for half the day.
Oh my vomit. Yeah. So then Lorlie says gossip and she gives the gossip about the fight the h and somebody pricked up their ears right away. Yeah. I think Roya heard that loud and clear, deep in her soul. Then the moment Danielle has been waiting, Oh my god, it was so bad. Yes, his apartment was vile. Okay, let's now here. Here we are, now here we are. I think this was a very very, very bad acting job on my part. I thought I was unhinged, unnecessar
saily unhinged in this scene. I did not like what I saw. I did not if I was directing this episode. I was directing myself and I saw this in the dailies, I would call myself and say, Scott, we need to reshoot this, and you need to calm down a little bit, you know, because it was just too much. Really, Yeah, I was just like vibrating all over the place and yelling. There was a door slam that was scary, door slam. The whole thing. It was just too much. It was
too much. It was it was over the top and I'm throwing a flag on that. I'm throwing a flag. I don't know. I mean, it wasn't like you were not happy. But I don't know. Is it that Milo nailed it? Because the scene was great. I love when Yeah, I think he was. I think he was great in it. Um. But the thing is is he wasn't going to let himself get caught up. He wasn't gonna let himself get riled. The only way to save my butt in that scene is if he gets involved and it starts escalating. Right.
But the fact that he didn't, that that he didn't made me come off like I was unhinged, and I just thought I thought it made me like the scene more. I came in too hot. I just I came in too hot and ramped up too much and it was just too much. Like, who's going to respond to that in a positive way? He did? He feel like it's only Jess. I think that's why it worked. I think it's I think it's one of those uh you know, I was feeling it too much and showing it too
much and acting too hard. That's all throwing a flag being honest with you. Didn't like it, I don't know. I liked it. And I love when Jesse says I'll catch the next one like this says you aren't coming, Well, I'll catch the next one like that was that was funny. I don't know. I liked this scene. I liked it too because you said you owe me. Yeah, he did say that it paid off the very next scene. I think. Okay, So here's what I also think. I think this scene
fell victim to gilmore case. It didn't need it. This scene could have breathed and and we could have taken a lot more time in this scene to play out these beats. I'm just technically and and and emotionally. I thought it was just too fast to read. Who am I to judge? You might be right, but I liked it all. Well, yeah, what you like? It got away
with another one to wait, So then we go. I know, we're at the diner and we've got the your to do list versus my to do list, and all the to do list, and is that when we realized Jess made it Jess, Jess shows okay, all right, so it worked finally. Way what was he reading? I didn't catch that when I watched the episode because it was I don't know what I wrote? What's LORELEI reading too? What was Jess reading? At the strip club? When you shoot it? O're not there yet there yet? Said? Comes first say
I'm going too fast again? I I'm too weird. That's the problem, gilmore speed. So then we see Glenn. So then we go over to to Yale. We see Glenn flirting, and then we realize there's an emergency. Rory gets the call. Can we can we just talk about Glenn? Please? Can we just talk about how funny that guy is? What did he say? You're stalking me? And he what did he say? It's not stalking? What did he He's just
but you leave your your curtains open after her? He's he's got the hard job because he's got a couple of little lines, right, and he's got a nail them, and he always nails them. I don't know, I love that guy? Does I love this guy? So then we see Jess and Luke interacting and Luke's eating dinner and he says, eat what you like. I hear there's a good chawman. So that was I like lauralized reaction when Jess just like walked in and she's like, what like
when she's just sitting there? Is that the scene? Right? Did I skipt? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, no, it was right before the flirt, right before oh yeah yeah yeah yeah right. And then we see Luke doing the dishes back with the tapes again and we get the do you see her face? What is fantasy? You see her face? I just kept saying Laura la at the end of that scene, Did I go whoa or something like that? Did I go whoa? Something like that? Did I? I don't think so. We kind of were just like, oh you did, like
bulb no, but something came out of my mouth. I verbalized something wow, ah, good writing. Good scene. So then we're at the hospital, Harris is losing her leap. Just you don't you don't expect that from her, do you? You just don't expect it? Didn't you feel like Emily when Richard was in the hospital though, That's what it reminded me of who That is a really great comparison. Yeah, it's very similar. Yeah, when he had a heart attack. Yeah,
and I thought it was two things. First of all, we get a mention of an anvil again, which I thought, no way, now that I've learned what an anvil is came back into my life. And then it really made sense when she's she realized like he's old. Yeah, yeah, and you're like, yeah, nobody I saw him. His eyes were staring at the ceiling. He's only gurney, he was looking. Look. I love what she says. I should be in a discotheq. She Uh, she's all heart and soul. Did she that one?
I mean the guys in trouble? I want to dump him. Yeah, seriously, it's like wow. But I was like, yeah, Harris, he's old. Yeah, I will get to it. But she she she didn't notice this beforehand, you know, exactly, like we're assuming there she had to help him into the tub, you know, but I think post coital, That's what I'm saying, we're assuming they boum. So that's the whole basis of it. Old cat naked. I think she likes like the old
scholarly side of him, but not like an Oh. In a few years, I'm gonna have to kind of take care of this. But we're thinking they are sixty and twenty, Like, what is their age different? She has to be like nineteen, Say she's twenty at the most, it's twenty. She's not she could be seventeen or eighteen. No, she's not seventeen because she's eighteen. Yeah, she's eighteen or nineteen nineteen. Okay, fine, And what is he? He's Richard's age, it might be
more than that. And no, dude, no, he's in his sixties. He's early sixties. So they are forty years apart. Yeah, they have nothing to talk about. There's nothing, no conversation they could possibly that's too many, too many years. It's yeah, it is hm, it's her grandpa's Yeah, okay, So then we go to because then the granddaughter shows up. That's
my granddaughter. And by the way, by the way, Rory's never been funnier totally when when she was leaving, when she you know, stepped in it with the granddaughter, you know, realized it was granddaughter and like, well I got to be going now by See that's the thing. That's the thing I admire so much about Alexis is because she stays relaxed through every year. She never lets her body get all tense, and she never blows a scene or blows a line because she's trying too hard. And that's
the thing. That's that's the takeaway from me is like, if I'm the lead of a series and I've got to be there every day and do this every time, man, you better be relaxed. You can't go into Jesse's apartment and be all tight and tense, interesting and interesting. You can't do that. You just can't do that. That's bad. But she's she's just great. She's she's just so she still has the proper amount of energy for the scene. Right, it's still alive and it's all happening, but she's so relaxed,
understated or it's very relaxed. Yeah, it's really nice. All right, So we're we're got one thing. Before that, we got Suki lore Lyne Michelle realizing laundry is isn't spelled wrong, which it isn't, although I don't know how you spell consumme also consummes gross, but uh, And then I think we find out that the zucchini issue sleeping with the zucchini and Davies of the grandparents and YadA YadA. Okay, so now we go to the bachelor party and I
died when he said I spoon with your sister. And Luke's just like and that the lap is an illusion that was hysterical, the best stuff man. And then oh god, well, Jess's in the bathroom and he says, use it before the puking. Oh my gosh, Jess has his book. Did Luke overreact to the lap dance offer? I feel like that was a very lucris ye, like, yeah, you didn't think it was an overreaction. It was too much. I don't think anything was too much, only you think it
was too much. It's a free country. I ever right to how I feel. So then we go back, Okay, disagree. So before the Mud, we go back to the hospital. I think, right, That's what made me, Yeah, was like we like, this is the most ungilmore Girls scene. We go from a strip club to a hospital, like usually it's like stars Hollow to like Emily and Richards, you know, and we think that Paris is gonna up. But this is where this is where TJ takes us. I mean, he just takes us into the the mud. Doesn't he
so good? They're so good. So we go back to the hospital and this is where Paris and Roy are having this heart to heart and we think they're going to break up, and she goes in and I think he said thank you angel. He called her angel. I mean, dare I say it? He and I hate I hate this term, but he kind of like gaslit her in this a little bit. You mean you mean where He's like, if you don't want to, I don't think that's gas No, no,
it wasn't gaslight. He realized that she was free. I don't know, no, no, no. He picked up on her vibe, but she was coming in too like dump the he wanted to give her. He just was giving her an out. Yeah, the wise man could feel the vibes. He knew what she was thinking, and it was a gaslighter would have been like a gaslighter would have been like, I've done everything for you, and now that I had one bit of Amgina, you're dumping me. You're the it's all your
fault like that you have Angina, like you know what? Yeah, to me, he was like making I don't know when he said, after all, I'm old, like I was to me. I was just like he was just kind of like, I don't know, but that's but that's the nature of I guess his experience with young Yeah girls, true, this happens time and time. This happens every semester. To him,
he sees it coming. He knows he probably ends up in the hospital every semester because the girl is you know, I don't know, to flights out and then he gets low on electric lights, he passes out, He ends up in the hospital. The girl wants a dumb It's like he doesn't care. It's like, next time to be sweet and give her the out. And he was very He's like your wonderful company, but if you want to reassess, and then she falls for it in the sense that like he is so sweet and she's like no, like
she does genuinely like him. Yeah, really likes him. I think they like each other. Although when it was a granddaughter, she was so unfazed by two young students being in the hospital for her grandfather, and I totally thought that was a girlfriend at first, like, yeah, yeah, another daughter. I just thought it was the daughter Asher Fleming been there, done that. This happens every semester. Let's get let's get the granddaughters. Like she's back, he's back in the hospital.
Two new girls. Literally, we're back at the bachelor party with the mud, and wow, I tell you this is pretty racy for Gilmore girls right here, and took an aggressive turn with the fight, like all about walking down the aisle, get Luke to do it right and then fight and TJ was trying to do the right thing by his you know, soon to be wife. Yeah, like I wish, I wish Jess would walk her down the aisle,
you know, like that would have been a cute moment. Yeah, but well yeah, I wish they didn't go to blows. That was nearly wasn't nearly neally hilarious, but nearly had to man handled us a little bit crazy way hilarious though, And you have no memory of just that mud. I do not remember a single second of that. Oh my god, I just don't. That's why I was shocked when I saw myself walk into that set. I was like, I do not remember this because that's something you'd remember. You'd
think you'd remember the mud. Nope, and like being messy, Well I wasn't. I I just don't remember any of it, but I get it. I actually thought to myself, like, if somebody said to me, do you remember episode season one twelve of the podcast, I'd be like, no, no, you said, blah blah. I'd be like, oh yeah, that time we were laughing and we didn't a grand something.
I remember that. Oh my god. All right. So then we go to the like garden, which I thought was kind of a lovely cute thing, you know, where they're all in the garden together and they're just I thought that was actually really cute get ourselves when they said, let's take something off of our plates and we decide what you take off someone else's. Mm, that was cool. Who said that? Remember they all they're all in the garden. Yeah,
they're looking at the stars, right. They know they've got too much on their plates, so they're going to take something off. Yeah, and they picked what it was, dropped something off your list, and then they picked what it was something, you know, each of them had a thing. I thought that was cute. Then we get to the one of my favorites, Luke and Jess m I love him Luke and Jess there may be some of my favorite to be honest, And then and they talk about well, first of all, we learned that he came because of Luke Yeah.
And then we also learned why he didn't come. To begin with the I Love you Yeah because Rory my favorite was a conversation between Luke and Jess and Luke was like, and you just left, and Jesse was like, yeah, I left. It was such a Luke move it was. And then you give him the tapes. Oh my god. Then then you go over to Laurelize. Wow, big move. Made the move. He made the move. I grew a pair and made a move. It was so smooth, smooth move. It wasn't obvious, just so good. It was pretty good, right,
pretty good? It was. I want to know what I wrote on my paper, slick smooth? Was it smooth? Ten? Ten? Ten? This is a ten. The whole episode's a ten. Oh yeah, I agree, this is a ten. Yeah. And her and when she got in her cheap and she looked back that last time with a smile in her face, was yeah.
You know, these two it's like they're so happy. They're pretty happy because you could just feel that nervousness between you know, you know when that when you're in that situation and you ask somebody and it's like they said yes, and you just you don't want to, you know, do do you know, leap around and celebrate. You just you have to contain your joy, right yeah? Yeah yeah, And they were just both doing that. It's really fun, really fun to watch. Ten. This episode was so good. I
actually can't get over it. It was so great. How many zucchinis do you give it? At the very end, when he gives the boom box, suggests, I know, I know, Like he's like I figured out. Yeah. Can we just sort of like, you know, look, you do your zucchinis, I'm gonna do my boom boxes. Can we just agreed that this is a ten? Yeah? Yes, everybody, Yes, I can. Yeah, it's my boombox. As you do, how many whatever things you're going to give it? Yeah? Ten? This is this
is a ten. This is a strong, This is like a ten plus. Yeah, I agree. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to watch. I can't even have a favorite line because I literally said, this is the best script of the entire series so far. I don't know. My favorite line was Rory escaping to the elevator in the hospital. She's cracking me up. I liked them when Luke was responding to the tape and it's like I feel angry. He's like, because I'm listening to this tape
and like he's back and forth with the tape. Mine was similar a Luke line, um when he got the tape and the workbook and he goes it doesn't get lower than this. Again, here's another Here's another thing that that at me watching alexis, why didn't somebody give her a romantic comedy to star in? They did? Who? Who did? What? Big? Yes? It's her traveling. Was she the star of that? Yeah? Yeah she was. I never saw them, but she's the
lead of that film, The four four? Okay, so, but she had the love story like she she had the Greek There was a sequel to and was she? Was she great in it? Yeah? Amazing? Okay, So where's the rest of the movie offers? Why wasn't that girl? They could have made her a big movie star? Right, I don't get it. She's so she's so great in these scenes and so funny and so likable, right, totally. I don't understand why she didn't get a bigger career. And
she did. She's done very very well. Don't get me wrong. She You're right, she has done very well. But she's not Jennifer Lawrence. But she's in hand. She's in hand tale. Wait a minute, Jennifer, No, there's Jennifer Lawrence is a totally different type of person. She's not Emma Stone. See what I'm saying is like Alexis is a big star, and she's she was in Madman, she's in handmaids Tale, all these things, but she's never she has not become
Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence. Those well, let me ask you this, because they're movie stars. It's like, I feel like, sometimes it's different when someone's on this show for seven seasons, no kind of you can make that transition that happens. But you're saying if they're only on a show for
one or two seasons, then they make the transition. Then feel not so known as TV people because the people you're listing, like Jennifer Lawrence, like she wasn't on a show for like eight years, right, People people get used to somebody like Alexis that they can see on television for free. They're less likely to pay for crossover. I don't know, but I just think she's so good with that. She's so amazing, and she's so great at light comedy. You know, there's like an Audrey Hepper. She's also so
good at handmaids Tale, her kid. Yeah, and it's not it's not a comedy. That's well, I mean she's had she's had a wonderful career. Yeah, and mad Man. She's great too. I mean, if I was a producer of films back then and work for a studio, I'd say, Man, let's get her into these total films. I mean, let's get her opposite. Well, give it time. It's not too late. True, true,
I don't I don't care. A tough business, Isn't it like that day Louise has never had their own show, you know, it's like, what man, the talent coming out of this show smoking? Anyway? All right, so I think we all agree that this was a wonderful episode. Season four is just kicking ass and taking names people. Um, all right, so one is the next. The next episode is Season four episode twenty one. Were one away, two away from end last week fights, this week tights. Draw
your own conclusions anyway. Thank you Tara, Thank you Danielle, Thank you Amy. Who's no brushing her hair? What are you just doing? My training?
