Episode description

So sad...but oh so good.  Rory and Lorelai are living parallel existences culminating in almost identical scenes with Dean and Luke.  But, before we get in to that... Lorelai and Sookie had a fight.  It was heartbreaking but the question is... who was right and who was wrong?

Gran goes up against Richard and it was brutal.

Lane sees her mom and says,  "Hello Mrs. Kim".  And, that just about says it all.

But, before we go... we have an important question.  Does Emily know that Lorelai dates Jason???!!!

We break it down and analyze it every which way!

I am all in, kiss you, I am all in with Scott Patterson and I heart radio podcast. Hey everybody, Scott Patterson, I am all in podcast. I am here with my trip. I said, you know what I gotta tell you, Amy Sugarman, Tara suits Back, and Daniel Romo. Um. I was quite delighted by the episode. Oh really, it was a slow starter for me. But man, and I'll tell you this, here's a little highlight. I now am digging on Trixie. I'm liking the Tricksie vibe. I'm digging

the trick clergy. I thought of you, Scott during that dinner scene. Oh, she cracked me up. I was tears were streaming down my freaking face. That scene in the living room slayd me. Oh my god. I thought that's one of the best scenes in the entire four seasons so far. I've always pastic I never disliked her like you. Man, I'll tell you that was episode genius. I was. I

liked it. I mean it was. It was sad, but I it was kind of like a Growing Pains episode, like you no, not not like the show Growing Pains, like I mean, like no, right right, yeah, which that's what I thought you meant, which is why I thought it was so funny. I would never laugh at that other show. Just like the way Rory and like you think of Mike's by I'm thinking, where's she going with this one? Sorry, I get what you're saying, because at the end of this, all I wanted to do is

call my mom. I'm like, I just want to call my mom. I love her. At a moment where I was like melancholy, that was like the word I wrote down and I could, I was like, am I was I sad going into this? Or am I sad in it? You know? I realized this episode made me realize that Mrs Kim and Paris were the same person I was stunned by that, just different accents, it's the same personality. They're both wrapped so tight. So it's it's a double and Tom and Tom could be Luke's father. It's a

double barreled dose of realizations here. There was some interesting parallels, and obviously it was so obvious that it was so intentional. Yeah, well, I'm sure we'll talk about right. Yeah, you could see it coming a mile away, but you were it was okay because of how it ended up and I say, so, let's go through it, because we're gonna be all over the place if we don't. Uh, somebody, you gotta whip you gotta whip this horse into shape, you know, because

you know we're just gonna start. Amy's trying to derail us, all right. And just speaking of horses, yes, continue, I have no idea not afford those horses. Oh, yes, that's that's very true. What are they doing with horses worth the money? Are they offering rides? Are they selling rides on the horses or what's the deal? And I think, guys, it's time to synopsize. And we've got one of the best synopsizers in the business, maybe the best synopsizer. And

Daniel Romo take it away alright. This is season four, episode fourteen, The Incredible Sinking Lorealize Air date February seventeenth, two thousand four. Lorelai and Rory think they're both failing in their lives. Rory can't handle five courses at Yale like her grandpa did, and Lorala can't handle all the workload and upfront money of opening the inn without Suki's help. But Luke and Dean are there to console the two Meanwhile, Grandma Tricks is in town for a visit and throws

everyone for a loop with our conversation and accusations. Boom. That's how you set up an episode. Right there, best in the business, right there. Now we're off to the races. Okay, Well, so you liked it, so give us a little more of your overview before we start. You know, it was a I don't know that it. I mean I would go watch it again. Just the opening was fine. I thought it was crisp and funny, and you got Tom there being like, you know, the an older Lukey kind

of thing flavor. Michelle was looking all kinds of studily in this episode, like he was looking at in that opening scene. I think he's sort of leaning up and maybe wearing jeans and he's like I'm not available or whatever. Um, but yeah, I thought it was fine. I thought it was a fine opening, and um, you know, we we spent a lot of time at Yale and there was a shrieking Paris and she just was like she was

coming on glued every moment. She's jeez man. So they got their first in customer that was actually pretty cute, and on the gun gum wrapper, you know what I was going to ask you. So she writes on the gum wrapper, and clearly they like really zoom in on her face where she's realizing we've taken our first reservation. This is real. What would you have said the direction was? Because she they obviously she knew they're going to linger on her face. And I couldn't decide if she was

like happy worried because she knows the financial problem. What would you what would what would a director direct? I just think you know, Lauren was aware that they were going to kind of punch in on her a little bit. They don't really do close up, close up be things on Gilmore. They do sort of you know, waste up stuff. That's that's all. That's as close as they get um. And she you know, you don't really need to give Lauren direction. She knows the shot, she knows what she

needs to be thinking. It's really just thinking the thoughts and all the thoughts that you just mentioned are going through her head and that's why you're getting those reactions. Yeah, And didn't you think her face really depicted it? Because really, right from the start, I'm like, she's not overly happy, she's emotional she's happy. I was like, what is what is she feeling? And what am I feeling? I was like, am I because that was the start for me of

feeling nervous or something or anxious. I was like, something's not. Something's not. That's good. That's good acting. I mean, that's that's thinking the thoughts. All you have to do is think the thoughts. And if you think the thoughts as the character, the audience is going to get it, either um subliminally or otherwise. You know, they'll get it. And I think all the director maybe said to hers, listen,

we're gonna stay on you. We're gonna linger on you for a while, So just milk it for all it's worth, okay, right, Yeah, yeah, I think an actor would kind of like that. Yes, yes, because that's where you get to do the real acting. You get to think the thoughts, you know. And did I do too much? She wasn't too much? No, no, no no. It was real nice and subtle, and we picked up Hers was not too much. It was just a lot of wow mm yeah. And then we go

to Paris and she's totally unglued. I love them. I was going to say unhinged already right out the gate, She's like mean, God, yeah, I just mean this episode, Yeah, it was almost she was so mean that when she was right that Rory probably shouldn't have told Lane. She was so mean leading up to it that I didn't really have any sympathy for us, like, shut up, Paris. But I don't know, what do you guys think of Paris. I think that her relationship with with Professor what's his name,

york As m ash or Flaming. That sounded like a fake name. It's such a because Asher has to be British, right, Um, yeah, I guess their relationship. I don't I want to be delicate about this, um, and I don't want to sound I don't know how to say this without saying it and sounding a certain way. So maybe well let's just say alert alert. This could kiss you off. We're gonna

say it anyway, you know. I don't know if if Asher was holding his end of the bargain up in the bedroom, so to speak, maybe she wouldn't be so tense. I mean, I don't want to say that's funny. I just said that. I think that's their whole thing. That's all they're like, that's all they really have so secretive. It's like, I think she's pissed. Does the anxiety of her getting found out trump the good feelings that asher's Oh, I think she wants to be found out. Yeah, that's

what I'm confused about. Like, I feel like she wants people to know because she thinks it's cool. She really does. She thinks it's cool that she's dating man Um. But at the same time, she's like, you know, being all weird about Lane knowing. I'm like, you've got to decide if you want people to know or not right or knock it off. She loves being in the scandal. I think that's that's a good point. Yeah, she loves the

messy like the Todd Draynus of it or this. Yeah, it's like this is about me, Like I'm the one that she has a superiority complex mixed with an inferior And he's not married, right, it's just that he's old and a professor. Yeah, I don't think he's married. No, I don't either. What would his wife's name be, Dame Dame Dorothy McAllister something like that? Um, who knows. Yeah, she's grating. She can be great and can't she this one's rough and she's so mean to that boyfriend, Like

the what's the runner roommate's name? Oh, Janet, Janet Janet. I thought she was. So I'm glad you mentioned Clebold. I got a little jarred by that because of the the kid at Columbine? Am I the only one? Yeah, that was weird and it was Columbine happened before this, so I'm like, that was a weird yea. Columbine was nineties, So it was that a weird name choice because that immediately jarred me on that jersey. I was like, because you could pick any names, So I don't know why. Yeah,

I don't know that was anyway. They have to clear these names too, Yeah is that true? Yeah? The legal department just make a name, you have to clear it. Yeah, anything that appears on a TV show, it has to be cleared first, or they make sure it's not trademarked or something. They didn't get approval from Clebold or whatever. You know, if it's someone if it's like a staff member's name, does it still have to be proved? Like

it's like a question. They get the approval from the staff member, right, Like if a writer has like if a writer's last name was on the back, they would just ask them. But it's not like the whole thing. But what if there's five million Luke Dean's in the world already. They can't just be Loop Dean's. It got cleared. Oh, it has to be a trade mystery clearance on that.

We have to clear stuff too, and we get the worst responses because I mean, let's say, you know, Joe Smith is depicted in a certain way in a film or a TV show, and Joe Smith doesn't like how he's being depicted. You know, you can go after the studio, getting crap at work, and my girlfriend just don't me because you don't want to be associated with me anymore. You know, it seems like it would be easy to

clear Joe Smith. But what about like they used Selene's name in this and you know, culture and you can something about being famed like that's public domain. Yeah, or you're allowed to do it because it's like people are famous or something. You need a lawyer. Really, where's Nicole when we need her? I've got her on the phone right now. Hey, honey. Yeah, you know it really jarred me in this beginning sequence is um Rory sleeping in jeans,

Like literally, it's like the same thing. Can't she She's not going to take him off right in front of us, you know, but well then she they should have had her in leggings. Yeah, I'm also so weird, like I can't lay on my bed with clothes that like I go out in my pajamas, like sit on my bed. God bless you. I used to so I will not bore everyone with my bug crisis of two. But I thought I had bugs in the house. Turns out I

think they're in the yard. I will now never get in bed or on the bed unless the clothes are like clean. They're like your pajama clothes, like you're going because you're you're afraid if there's any food remnants or just attract bugs. Imagine Rory was like no that they that she was at school all day or doing her thing, and then like germs get on her and then she

lays in her bed. I'm with Utara. I'm more about them, like being uncomfortable, Like it's it's tough to put me in jeans as it is, let alone, like go to sleep. You're trying to tell me you're sitting here right here, and now in front of the whole world, in front of our maker, saying that you never did a face plant fully clothed in your bed after a night out or woke up in the same close. I am the person who will watch all of my makeup. Doesn't matter

how much alcohol I have had. I will watch my face and put my pajamas on, because it's big regret if you don't the repercussions from it. I once did a face plant the bed. I hit the floor and went and fell asleep. I have slept in my clothes, for sure, but I probably I think I've managed a face wash, but gross. I won't do it now, after knowing how germany the world is I have to do. People won't like this, but I have too. Showers a day now is the night? Do you shower before you

go to bed? I shower every morning and that's it, and then you just later. No, no, no, I shower. I shower when I get back from the gym, which I'm beginning to hate. Going to the gym now a great way to start. Too crowded. It's too crowded because they're all the new resolution people are in there, and it's like, you know, it takes him about six weeks to fade away. You've lost two ounces, good for you, and they're just they're in the way, and it's like,

I don't even like going anymore. Are they usually gone? Do they make it to March? Are they usually gone? Now? They take usually texts about six weeks and they you know, I don't think you can see. I'm so sick of already everyone's laughing tranks. I wanted to get to the bleep, oh my god, I'm hot, Oh god, Okay, Rory's got her new jobs swiping, which I actually thought was pretty funny bit, Like it was a funny bit all around, was swiping or forgot to swipe the whole that was

a funny. I wonder if they still do that because like I definitely did that in college with like my meal card. You have to walk up, swipe, do the whole thing. Like do they still do that? I never went to the like cafeteria. What's the point of it? Like my card had money on it, so like every time you go, like it takes off it's five dollars all you can eat? Or do you pay for what you actually get? Like for us, we paid for what we actually got right. So, like, I went to two

different college. First college was like all you can eat. You you go in, before you enter the cafeteria, you swipe and then you can get anything you want. And then my other school it was more like um, like an ATM card, Like honestly, like, you walk in, you get what you want, you want, and you swipe at the end. These people look like they were swiping at the beginning, but that's I have done that before, and it was like, you know, all you can eat the

type of situation. Also, I was today years old when I realized you went to two different schools. Yeah, my freshman year I went somewhere different than my last three years. What Yeah where? I went to EUC Davis. I feel like I told you this, Okay, it's coming back to me. Yeah. I went to UC Davis for like two quarters and then because I thought I wanted to be a vet, like jokes on here I am. But you are dealing with animals, aren't Yeah? Break wait, David's is a good school.

I mean, so is you where you went? But yeah, exactly, it all worked out for the better. Huh. Anyway, Okay, so I'm assuming they swipe at the beginning, and then they can have a muffin or they can have twenty things. It seems though. Yeah, the endowment is so large, you would imagine it was just like a free buffet every day, right, that's like for what they charge intuition. I mean, we were charged. Can I have a bagel? Please? You think is it too much? Charged? The same thing, and you

could eat. You didn't have to swipe, you just went. It was a majority, but you could just eat. You could skip breakfast or you could have five breakfasts. It didn't matter because breakfast is a word. It is now Okay. Anyway back to so did you know that Jared slash Dean was back? Did you see it in the credits or were you like, oh Dean, now, yeah, there he is asking for permission to exist again. You know, I

love me a Dean cameo. And more importantly, I thought he was so awesome, Like he definitely gets like gold stars for ex boyfriend, you know points like he's like totally doing the right thing here. I don't know he was. He was grabbing her. He's grabbing her a little too much there. Oh I didn't think so he was. I thought a kiss I thought he wanted to kiss her. I did too. I did too. I did too. Dude, you're married, what are you doing? Well, what's happening? But

I don't know what's common. Don't tell me what's common. I'm so glad you said that, because I also we're jumping ahead. But I also thought, okay, so the parallels were so exact, were so jumping ahead weight? Should we pause? We'll get to it. I thought the physical acting that you and Lauren did, oh my god, it was so good. The way you hugged her, the way you like it was. It was so cool, acted so beautifully. And also you're like, oh, yeah, these two, that's not how you hug a friend, either

of them. Yeah, m I thought so in Rory's case with Dean, But I thought, Luke, I do remember that scene because it was a big deal scene for Lauren. The preparation for Lauren was I mean, listen, in moments like that, when you're with uh an actor, your your scene partner, and it's on them to come up with the tears. And you know, because she had it during the scene as well, before we sat down at the bench, right and then sitting down at the bench, she had

to break down. That's a lot of pressure to do that. So you need you need a partner that's going to vibe with you and just be quiet and just served you that in those for all hours that it takes to shoot that particular angles and all that stuff. Yes, um, and I remember feeling, you know, so close to Lauren because she she thanked me profusely after the scene was over and and and paid me a huge compliment. And I was just you know, hey, man, I'm just this

is my job. I'm just doing much. I'm just supporting you, you know, because this is your moment to shine, all right, this is your moment that you and so she so it was like you know, art imitating life and life imitating art, you know that kind of a thing. So

you really need to be there for so. I but I do remember, gosh, I don't want to make this too much of a like, hey, I wanted to make sure it was it was a friend hug, and there's a difference and how you put your arm around and how you hold No, it was not sexual, right, no, right, right, no, okay, it was but it was so affectionate, right, that would be how I would just say, yeah, right, and just the way because there was a lot to the hug, different hand moves, and I think there was maybe even

a head there. Yeah, I put my hand on her head. It was so just to let her know it's okay, you're safe here and just go out and do what you need to do. Word that might make me cringe, but I want to say anyway, it was so tender, like it was so loving, not in a creepy sect way in a this is my best friend, this will be my husband way right right, yeah, alright, in gentleman, will be Luke. Looks like in the Forefront, I thought Dean and Rory was the teenage because they're still teenagers

version of that. This was not quite as Yeah, it wasn't she great, wasn't Alexis, but he was so great, But the illness was on her. I get it. I get yeah, but but the onus is on Lauren, the onus is on on on Alexis. And I thought the wonder experience something like you did, being like I've got to bring my a game because this is a huge scene for Alexis. You are that's that's when you were just serving that actress. That's your job. Just serve them, just be there for them, be let them, give them

their space, let them get their preparation. Because it's a big deal to Worrse though. Now see what a good actor Jared because you're like, he's got four years under his belt basically because this is one of his first big roles. I can't remember if he'd gone off and done other things at the same time, but like he is, that's a game he brought to It felt so real. It's it's connecting with the actor. It's connecting act. Good acting is just connecting with the other person. You if

you really truly can neckt with them, you listen to them. Well, if you don't listen to them and you're just thinking about what you have to say, it's not going to go well. And and going back, we see so our first thing with Dean is we see him calling Rory and they even wrote down cute banter. They had such a cute scene which they shot on phones, so they're literally shooting on their own pulling that off. Yeah, that's

how you do it. You know, you're not talking to the other person, right, So, but he was, so you're talking, you're talking to scripty. Well, even are you sure, even in Gilmurt Girl, if they're not, like, are you really talking to script? Talking to script? Because do they not want to pay Jared to have to work that day or that hour? Well, yeah, they're they're not scheduled to be in that day, yeah right, right right, And if they are, then they'll do it off camera, right, they'll

come from their trailer and they'll come do it. Sure. Yeah, But if they're not the love that she steps away from, she's all she realizes. There's a huge line of swipers step up, don't I did find it really telling um for like the future of the series that she saved his phone number. I don't know, there was something that I was like, oh, she's going to use that again at some point. So that was just kind of like a little like light bulb in my head. Good eye,

as they say. And I did notice, so before we got into all the hair mess, I did notice that Lauren or Laura, la whoever you want to say, that her hair was long and scraggly. So and then it became such a thing in the episode that I'm wondering, did they like tell her like grow your hair out, don't get a no, no, no, that the hair department is more than equipped to make her hair look a little ratty. You have to, like, I don't know, grow it out. Look, those people are so good at what

they do. It's it's it's kind of amazing. I mean they did. Look, they did that episode that they won the Emmy for um that the Festival of Living Arts whatever. Yeah. Yeah, I mean if they can do that, they can make her hair look ready. I immediately noticed because she's like in bed with Jason and her hair was like extraordinarily long. And then Danielle, what did you think when you're like, oh, Jason's in his like robe and box or shirtless shot. Yeah,

and and lore lines and lingerie. I was like, this is escape for primetime television, like dang, especially for Gilmore girl. Yeah, I looked away. I actually looked away. Shield your eyes. I mean, I'm sort of feeling like they're in their groove. I did have a w TF moment though that I had like missed an episode because Emily mentions something about Jason and you're like, do they know that they're together? Oh? That's interesting? Didn't have that moment. She says something about

do they know? Wait a minute, when he came into Jason or something, and I'm like, I literally w t F wait they find out. I don't think they know, they don't know, they don't mean at least, but she literally says, bring Jason. Did they figure it out when they had to be the fake date at the charity? I'm like confused. Nothing gets by Emily, and that's probably what the reveal will be, and she'll I almost think

that Laura, I almost I'm gonna protict the future. I haven't seen it yet, but I kind of have a gut feeling it's going to be Laurel. I was gonna sit down and tell her mother and and Emily will go, Laurela, I've known this for ages. What took your crazy? Because she literally says bring Jason, and Lorelie says, well, he may be on tour, and then they hang up and they say she can hear naked people because remember she's getting dressed, and then but obviously, what do we have

the transcript? Daniel, Yeah, she did say something. She'll know that I'm undressed. Maybe that was just her, but she definitely said bring Jason. Why would she say that to lure Life, She doesn't know she would say it to Richard because this is letting you know that she does know, but no, she hasn't been told because nothing gets past Emily. I just feel like they didn't ever want us to have that moment. They just skipped over. No, they want us to have the moment where Laurelai tells her finally

and she says, I've known that for a while. Laurel Oh, that's not about theory, but but she I don't know, Danielle. I see Danielle's eyes. I'm looking. It's right where uh, right after Dean calls Rory and they have their cute banter, and then it's right towards the beginning. She's in the bed and they're both on the phones, so there's like a lot of jibber jabber, like she's on the phone and he's on the phone, and then they hang up and they're in bed and then maybe making out. I'll

take your word for it, Jackie, Jackie. Okay. So we're looking at this and it says Emily, well, guess who's demanding we all make an appearance at lunch. Mom, your grandmother is coming back from Palm Beach. Okay, keep going. Your father has to run over oh, here it is. She wants to have lunch, sorry, a luncheon the day after tomorrow you meet your father, and apparently she wants to meet Jason. All we need is that filthy eminem

fellow to make a perfect afternoon formation. She says, I'll try to track him down, but you know he might be on tour something. So she's not after she wants she wants to meet Jason because he's in he's in business with her son, And why would look Nope, I have to throw flag on the plane, because why would Laurel I say, well, I'll try to track him down, mom, but you know he might be on tour. Emily wouldn't

even bring this up. If Tricks wants to meet Jason because of the business, she would say it to Richard, No, I think. But she's not asking for for Lorelei to reach out. She's saying, apparently she wants to meet Jason. All we need is that filthy eminem fellow to make it a perfect afternoon for me. She's not asking lore like, can you make sure he shows up? Loyally is the one that says I'll try to track him down, So she's showing her cards here and what's not asking h

I'm going to let the people decide. I think you're making too much of it. I think this is the debate of the Make sure somebody puts this on the Graham I need to know. Okay, well, I mean we'll move on, but I'm gonna hold my ground on this one girl. Um okay. So then we go back to the inn and we're I'm starting to realize things are not good with the bank because she's not paying Tom. Yeah he was what a good guy? Right? Yeah? Tom let him slide for a couple of days and yeah,

but that's the tough one. And then she says, ask your parents, ask Luke, which is like, you know, everybody thinks, first of all, you're not asking somebody for money that you're not like a second choice. It's like it's a pig chunk of money. Luke has it. Yeah, I guarantee you he did. He do it, he'd give it to her. It's just interesting that she's like, I'm going to take you to this fancy dinner to then ask you for

thirty dollars, Like, what what is happening? Why would she pick a fancy restaurant where Luke has a dress up at right, something he hates obviously would have given it to her. Yes, absolutely, So okay, so all this mess and then we have the Lane messes up with Paris and Paris melts down. He goes to the wiping swiping job, and I look, Paris wasn't wrong, but she'd been such a pill at that point that I was like, you know what, she's just coming to people too, strong man.

It's just like, there's a way to this happens every day in every relationship. Somebody says something that slips. So no, and she's not just reading everybody the riot act, I don't well, and then it was so like summer. She mentions Lane should be out and then says the roommates agree that Mari has to go have the roommate me, which was so uncom Well, she's not going there, right, Yeah. I mean look, if they didn't, they're paying in tuition,

you know, that's they're not signing up for that. If I had a third person in my two girl room, it would get crowded. Yeah. Yeah, it's just not it's not kosher, not kosher yea. And Lane was so cool. Lane was cool in this whole episode. She also looks great. She was cool. She's like, no, I got it, I'll go yeah. But I really thought Janet really stood out in this episode, really had some great comebacks and you know, held her ground, and I thought she won those confrontations

quite frankly. I mean it's like I just I don't know. It's like this character is just well, these people just are not taking They won't take Paris as ship like they did it children. These people are like no, right, Like you're not cool here, right, And I'm as cool as you are. So it's like you, right, you don't have this place wired yet. You know, you don't have your Madeline Louise, you don't have your little gang controlling everything,

and you know, change your behavior. I mean, she's just like blowing a gasket every time she's opened her mouth. So at this point in the episode, I already wrote I'm sad, So that was what I was like. I just wanted to make a note to see what you guys were feeling, because I'm like, is the episode already sad? Or did I go into it in a weird headspace?

Like I already was sort of blue? Like I'm like, m well, a lot of the We're not really used to seeing everything sort of collapsing like this for both Laurel and Rory in the same episode at this pace. So I think the reason the Tricksie scene was so delightful was because it was really funny and we really needed.

I mean, you talk about comic relief. Um, I mean even even Laureline Suki got into a knockdown drag out, which was that it was that was the most disturbing because it was like, you know, Suki is being portrayed as being so engaged and involved and everything. All the pipes are in and she's so excited and everything is exciting, and then you know she's acting like, you know, because she's tired. Obviously, Well I don't. It's not really my job, it's not you know, I I come in. Yeah, and

it's like it's like, whoa. So she wasn't having a lot of empathy for what Laura la I was going. Right, it was weird, right, didn't you find that odd? Yeah? Because obviously I'm sure she feels bad, but I would

have been like, you know what, You're right, I'm totally overwhelmed. Yeah, but here's the thing, you know, you know why that happened because laurel I took a tone with her and was talking down to her, and Suki was like, whoa, don't talk to you know the tone it was, the tone, It was like, listen, rich girl, I work for a living. Don't do this. Don't talk to me this way. You know what I mean. I don't I'm not your slave. I don't work for you. I I screwed up. I said,

I was sorry, not get out of here. I got, I got, I'm tired and I got a baby to deal with. Don't mess with me. Yeah, yeah, that's what that was. I thought it was. Also Lorelai was taking it all on, taking it all on, taking it all on, and then mad that no one's helping, whereas maybe she should have been more transparent all along. We're like out of money, Like she wasn't looping Suki into all the things. Yeah, so then it's a little bit gnarly to then be like, well,

are you not solving it all? You know what I mean? She sounded like Emily, Oh didn't she? So are you team Suki rather than team and that yes? Yeah yeah does that mean? Yeah, it's like she's got a baby, You got a baby? You gotta take care of a baby. Yeah, I understand both perspectives, because it's like, all right, Sukie, you're supposed to help me start this business and you're not. And then Suki is like, sorry, you're getting your hair done and taking care of a child. You know. So

it's like I can see it from both perspectives. You're getting your hair done, rich girl to approve, so you're rich rich uh ornerary grandmother approves of you? Yeah, you know. I mean because you're gonna go have dinner at the palace again. I mean, you really, let's get some perspectives. I'm not gonna lie and go as far as this.

I just thought. I don't know, I I get I think in any business like this, where you're trying to do this and there's so much pressure, there is going to be this fight between the two business partners almost inevitable there. You know, they're they're they're there. They want their in to have the special sink, the special stove. I mean, you know, she's an extraordinary chef, that's what

she does. She wants that equipment you want to have, you know, you want to throw great dinner parties over there and great events You're gonna have to give me the equipment I need so that I can produce this great food, you know what I mean? So yeah, up, Buttercup doing the best I can. And I think or a lie, I think they're both doing the best they can. Well if if Laura la is I mean, who's withholding the financial information from Michelle, well, then that's not her

doing the best she can, is it correct? And I think she should have told Suki much sooner, much earlier that there was these problems. We've known for a while there were problems, right, maybe Suki could have helped out. Maybe it wouldn't have been so stressful and so last minute, and maybe maybe Luke could have helped up. Maybe well, remember Laurela wasn't ordering take out, she cut off the cable like all these things. She's been trying to save money. I know, I get it. She's proud, she wants to

do it herself. She just want to get hand out. I get it, right, But still, you know, don't take it out on sweet Suki with a baby asleep in the next room, because you know her, her mama bear, you know, Suki's Mama Bear came out. It's like, hey, you don't talk to me like this in my house in front of my child, who you're waking up right now. And it's like that was going to get testy. That was going to get like. Also, don't think Laurel was wrong, m the tone was wrong. Sorry, she's like waving her

finger at her from on high. I think she was just fully melting down. And that Suki said she was going to be there and wasn't there. There's also that too, was like she had a pretty good excuse for sure, but so how so wait a minute, and Laurel has been there too, She's raised the child, she's had a baby. It's like she understands what that's like. You didn't get any sleep, the baby comes first. It's like that should have calmed her down. It's like, come on, where's where's

the empathy? Unpopular opinion. I'm not sure. I totally agree, where's the mother to mother empathy here? And where where? And lauralize the veteran mother. I mean she's the first time mother. I think she's already like the straw that broke the camel's back. I think he said she was going to be there. I don't know what if I just didn't show up for this asleep, well, I mean

you'd be like, what, Well, we just wouldn't have recorded. Well, the thin didn't get delivered and called a helicopter crew and gotten the hell up there to get you out of whatever mess you're in. I know, it's true. It's like it got so messy that it's like, yeah, it could have been preventable messiness had Laurel told everybody what was going on as her business partners. She needs to

be upfront about that. Yeah, Like she needs to tell Sue, she needs to tell Michelle like, hey guys, this is happening, like I can't yeah, and she can't, not that we're not even paying Michelle leadership leadership skills. Yeah yeah, So okay, So we go to the diner and immediately I loved the bon Jovi hat, not gonna lie, and then I never got a shout out because I was like a

cute hat. So this is where she said, so Lane, it's her job back, and uh, this is where Laurelie says, I think this is Yeah, this is where Laurelie says, can you have dinner with me? And now he has to dress up, which is like so true Daniels being mean, and then I think this is where, Yeah, this is where Lane and Mrs Kim seeing each other, and she says, hello Lane, Hello Mrs Killer. I know I'm ready for them to be resolved. I'm ready for this fight to

be over. Kind of done with it. Oh okay. So then we go back to Yale and I thought, my god, what uh orchestrated scene? There were so many extras. The Yale hallway was like so crowded. And then we go into the class and oh boy, I knew immediately he knew what she was doing there. Hm. He's looking for the paper and tells her it's a D A D. She goes into the classes, she goes into the office, she goes into his classroom for the one on one that I think it's the office last, it's like office hours.

I think they was devastating. The blood is to the blood thinned. She's she's she's not a guiltmore true Gilmore. She has to cut a class. Oh no, I know. I like this for her though, because I feel like her entire life she's, you know, everything has come to her on a silver platter, and the sense of she was the smartest in her class, she got the cutest boys, like, you know, like she was a star in Stars. That's what happened to her though at the beginning of Chilton,

remember the very beginning of Children's Overwhelmed. Yeah, it's true. It takes so like, yeah, it does take her a minute. But now it's time for her to be like, all right, the real world is a way different than Stars hollow, and she has to adjust, which I also like for her who gives a crap about dropping a class? Like, who cares? That's a big deal, it's a point of pride. It might it might be like she doesn't have enough credits to qualify as a full time student. No, she's

taking so many classes. If you're someone that cares about their grades and their studies, dropping a class is like failure, you know what I mean, Like they cannot handle that academic load, you know what I mean. Like it's a big deal. It's a big deal. Oh my god, I said. I was like, I'll just drop that on. It'll be fine. I think. I also, like work so hard to get into college. Then once I was there, I'm like, well I'm good if I get season. Did you find college easy? Yeah?

So easy? It was. It was like, did you go to You went to a private school. I went to Berkeley. You went to private high school? No? Public? But I knew in high school you're working so hard to get into college. Were val Victorian? No? But I had like I wasn't. I wasn't a dumb dum. Did you get into other? Did you get in? Did you apply to Stanford? No? I only did you apply to Harvard? Listening to save your emails? We know you don't care. No, I only applied.

I only apply, I know, save your emails. He's asking me, I'm not going to be rooting. Answer. I only applied to cal U, C. L. A. Davis and Santa Barbara. Okay, I went four for four humble brag m. That's awesome. California. I love California. Did you get Did you get into everywhere you applied me? You're asking me? Yeah, God, no, where'd you go again? Oh? Rutgers? That's good school? But I applied everywhere I played Harvard? You applied to Stanford? I never would No, No, I didn't. I didn't want

to go to California. Yeah, I would never got into Stanford. Did you apply to Stanford? No, daniel Me. No, U c l A. I applied to U c l A. I did not get into U c l A. That would have been you probably got close there. No, I'm so sad my top three U c l A and USC. Again, I know nobody cares. And I was deferred a semester at USC. USC was my number one and they wouldn't accept me until spring semester. And I was like, I want to go to college now. So you see Davis

third on the list. Oh my god, got USC got harder and harder and harder to get into, to the point and I had a four point Oh guys like I was, I was not, and I went to college. You could have like a two five and get into the USC. Like, I don't understand how kids get into college nowadays, like people the first of all, that's browned upon if you watch the Varsity Blues, don't anyway, Yeah,

I mean, so I get it. So she's she's like you, Danielle, where she's like a perfectionist and student and this is devastating, and clearly she really starts to melt down right after that. HM totally. And she has a lot of things that are like kind of you know, she said it herself, like she you know, has the d in the paper. She had to drop a class. She um, you know, Lane's movie has to move out. Look look at look at her life. She's got the suckiest roommate situation in

the history of college. She's got a lunatic. She's got like a some some she's got a crazy person living with her who's in an hysteric because it's like, which one are you talking about? Because she's got three sorts of nutty rooms. Well, she's got Tana, who you know I don't love but yeah, yeah, I love her too. She's she's got Paris. How do you live with Paris? You've got your your best friend Lane there living in your room. Um, you've got but you've got you got

the Paris thing with the ash er stuff. I mean, this poor girl. She she's trying to bribe guys to get out of under trees so she can have some piece of quiet somewhere in their life. And she can't get it. You know, she's she's having she struggle a little bit, you know, to find her place over there and to get in her rhythm. She's not getting in her rhythm, so so we leave that to go to your the moment you've been waiting for, Scott, we go

to the Gilmore's for the dinner with Tricks. I did laugh out loud the nuts, and Tricks is like, why are you so Loudly is very excited about announcing the nuts. It's just so I think someone makes a crack. I bet Rory's hair is perfect or or the hair is proven. It's like, it's like, I'll tell you the way the way Tricks was riffen. Tricks was riffing with the best of on this. Emily was the queen because she's forgot sakes, Jason, just be young. It was funny until it wasn't. This

scene was hilarious until it got waitnute. Emily. Emily set the table in the beginning of that scene because she came to she came to get Laurel out of her coat. She was already in a manic state. It was beautiful. It was beautiful. It was beautiful. Oh God, that was fair. I've been sitting in the room for two hours with her, and then poor Jason with that gift, She's just like ready to murder. How about the pause? And they just looked at your French antiques and they just looked at

each other. Tricks looks at him and he looks at her like they give each other looks literally, and Marion Rosscott bless her because this is nothing like Marion Cuneyham, like she crushed this man I have. Now I'm wanting more Tricksy. I think this is her one. I think I don't know. We have to look because well she out of that fight with Richard. It's like that wasn this is Jackie. Je said, it's the last. It's the which is weird because there it was, so there's nothing resolved.

So we just leave with Richard and her in the big fight. And I mean the fight though, like Emily finally got her revenge in a weird Wayne go there. We still have great lines to deal with Richard's mustache. Look, his Jaguars coming, What did she say? What did she say? What car was coming? This Masarati is coming tomorrow and he looks like, what do you look like somebody's drug dealer? Oh god, Oh it was just great. It was really funny. And then it then it gone the funniest scene in

the entire series so far. That scene, that scene that scene. That scene could have been a movie that seems really good, but then it gets brutal when she's like and look, she was right, and Richard maybe should have asked Lorelai, how is the financial thing going at the end, which which Richard wouldn't do because of their relationship. But it is interesting to learn that Graham did bail him out, but to call him out like that in front of

his business it was terrible. I don't blame Also, like Richard just gave her seventy five dollars, like I think he was probably like, I'm taking care of her. She's fine, you know, like when you give somebody a check like that much true, that's true, you know, like he's not not doing anything right. It was gnarly. I just wrote this is so gnarly. Well. Emily loved it. Emily love She's like, I'm done with Graham. Did you notice I noticed some blocking things and this this is a little

BTS for you guys. There was some interesting block things in this episode. In the in that dining room scene, after the very funny scene in the living room where you know, Richard, Emily and Laurel I had to be in a three shot so so Lawren's chair was pushed all the way over and almost just next to Emily's when they would cut to that shot out. And then when they turned around and it was just on Lawrence, she was closer to Trixie, so it didn't they moved

the chair. They moved that. They were moving the chair, yes, because they wanted to remember where Jason was during the mass. Well, I think he was on the other side of the table. But I noticed that that was like, whoa, how now she's all the way over by Trixie before she was put that up. Let's put that up so people could see it. Why wasn't Rory there? I wondered that too. I wondered that too. It's her grandma. I wanted that too. I I wondered, I wonder why she went the school.

Maybe there's an't expect her too. But but she's at the end. So right after this hot mess is going on, Rory's trying so hard to find her mom. So she ends up at the inn with Deane. Now I will say, okay, this is me just being a total b I T C H. The two parallel scenes both excellent. Lauren was more excellent. Oh, I you know I don't get I don't want to compare the performances. They were both great.

They were, but the Alexis was great. You can't take anything away from Alexis performance there because it's it's some of the best work I've ever seen her do, because she went from hysterics to breaking down, and you could see the stages of her breaking down in front of Dean. Then she really lost. I mean there were like levels of it and it kept breaking down more and I thought it was extraordinary that when that scene. I'm glad that scenes. You know. You know what I said to myself,

I said, I didn't know she was that good. Well, yeah, she's amazing. I didn't know Alexis was not good. I did not know she was that good. That's tough, That's that's you know. It's really crazy. Obviously because I follow so much Gilmore Girls stuff on TikTok. I'm always getting tons of Gilmore on my TikTok page. But for some reason, now it's coming up it's Laura Lie But it's all Parenthood scenes. Man, were they The Parenthood is such a good show. Did you watch it? M neither of you

watched it. I will let's do a podcast. What do you think? I mean maybe because like and sometimes the hashtag or the like comment is like parenthood brought us because of parenthood. We got this is Us because Parenthood sort of was that this is us before This is Us, which is ironic that Lauren was in One and Miles and One Man. Lauren is amazing and the acting is like amazing. Anyway, I digress. So yeah, I mean I thought this Dean. I thought Dean was amazing in this.

I thought he was so yeah, he was great. Everybody's great, I thought, but I really, you know, for my money, I thought Alexis really stole this episode Laura because she was look Lauren, Okay, Lauren reigns supreme. Okay, so that's a given. Okay. So it's like you can't hand the gold medal to the same person every single day. You got to recognize other people, Okay, Okay, so that's that's my and I know you say this and everyone's own groans. Whatever,

You're right, Lauren Graham should have gotten an Emmy. Yeah, like I'm watching the Golden Globe. Lauren Graham should. Yes, several, I agree with you, Yes, not just one, but five. You know, maybe let her lose one year and a controversial thing. But you know, yeah, although total shout out to the the guy that was in Goonies Key so much, every interview, every speech. I just I'm obsessed with that guy.

But anyway, total sidebar. Yeah, Lauren Graham should have gotten But I but I thought, I thought Alexis is comedic work and her dramatic work in the same episode. We're just supreme, absolutely fantastic. She's fantastic. I totally agree, totally agree.

So now we're in the scene that's just amazing and you see her and he's all dressed up for dinner and she finds him and you immediately are like, oh no, and Luke immediately says you okay, And it was like, oh wow, And I've seen this scene comes up on TikTok a lot, like this is a very significant scene.

Well she I mean the part that was like, you know, hit home was like her saying that she wished she had a partner and she wished she could do it all on her own, but she just needs somebody to meet her halfway and pick up the slack the other end when she can't do it all, you know, like and the fact that she's saying that to Luke is even more like ding ding ding, we have a winner, you know, like standing right right in front of you. Totally Oh my god, so true. Look this the episode

made me sad. I'm not gonna lie like I described it. I was blue, I was melancholy. I definitely almost wanted to watch another one to see if like, oh no, I gotta get myself out of the state I'm in. I didn't. I didn't. You can't know I didn't. But now, listen to a song or something to get you out. I think I turned to Criminal Minds and it got me that show. But anyway, uh, I thought, just a terrific episode. It really was. I mean, even even at

the grating annoying parts, was still terrific. Right to watch it. It's still terrific to watch it, and it sets up all this other great stuff. So you need that stuff to get the comedy. So, um wait, do your favorite lines because I have one we didn't get to. It's good for me to do it every once in a while. Reminds me why I'm not an accountants. Danielle, what was yours? Um minus? From Paris? And she says maybe I just can't be around boys because I have because I have

a mate, a man. Because it was so funny Danielle. Earlier in the podcast, when You're all many, mine was wear socks. Mr Kim, Okay, so god, what are we going to give it? One to ten horses, Richard and mustaches? I think, no, no, no no, we're going to give it. We're gonna give it Richards Richard's mustaches. Okay, Um, daniel how many mustaches? I'm gonna do eight and a half. You're gonna do eight and a half. Richard's eight and

a half deduction of five. Just being sad by it, I think it deserves a nine, but it just I was blue from it. I was like, you know what I'm gonna go. I'm going to give it a nine. I'm gonna give it a nine point hang on, I'm gonna give it a nine point to five. Tara gives it a nine. Too good. There's an emergency had to go. Everyone's wondering where she went. There was a podcasting emergence, right, So I'm giving it a nine to five. She gives

it to nine. You get eight, So we're up around eight point eight average eight point eight five average gymnasts that gets a nine to five. Remember that, remember when yeah, yeah, five. You know, I forgive any of the grading nature of this nails on the chalkboard character. Uh, just for that tricksy scene. I mean, that's at least she went out on top with you. Oh god, huge, huge, huge scene. I thought that was the most masterful scene of this area so far. Anymore. I enjoy her. I want to

go back and check out her earlier work. Maybe I was. I wonder if you would see it differently, Maybe I will. Actually, that's a good that's a good episode. Go back, that's a that's a good episode. You know, I think I'm gonna I think I will. Let's go back on the trick back watch them all again. I'm going to read a special episode. I'm going to re experience Tricksie. Okay,

all right, maybe she'll be's your assignment. You've got like you got to do it in in the next couple of weeks, all right, But okay, Jesus, more work from I'm gonna add fifteen minutes to my already. I'm so sorry that we're making work work. Yeah. The crack staff, the fake crack staff, give you anything. I don't at them. I know they're real. They're real. And talked. I talked to one of the crack staff members like all the time, I like regularly, like we email all the text all that. Yeah,

the crack staff is real. Oh she has a name. Oh yeah, you just gave her name. Oh no, no, that's her code name, code name. I would never blurt that out one am I a moron. I would never do that. We know the crack staff found nothing. I mean you did the blocking thing. That was actually pretty cool. Um, you know what, let me check. Okay, here, he's going to a secret file. I gotta go to crack staff dot com. We always put it in the pop culture

if you need to hang on a second. Oh shoot, I don't think this is our last episode, Joe, Yeah, I knew it wasn't. It's fine. We're one more season four. Crack Staff just came into my headphones and they I don't know they're they're in a helicopter. Someone. They do have notes, and I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm getting them in real time. All right, here we go hang on there? Okay, there in the cold open, a blueprint on the wall

behind Tom is hanging level. But when Laurel lies on the phone talking to the ends first reservation, it's hanging crooked. Wait give me that again. That really get into what was hanging crooked? Really? Look, I took one glance down at my phone and I missed something important. I need you to to tell me what that really? What was crooked? All I heard? Here's what went into my brain. Want want trust me. There's people that looked at their phones

while they were listening. Somebody ate their sand. Oh god, alright in the okay you ready? All right? And the cold open, the cold open, the blueprint on the wall behind Tom is hanging level. But when loyal eyes on the phone taking their ends first reservation, it's hanging crooked. Great, I I'm gonna I love. But that's easy. That's very explainable because maybe some worker went by and brushed up

against it. Wait a minute, Wait a minute, Laurel, I likes to come in the back door surprise everybody with nail guns. That's a great line too. First of all, that was and aggressive. I was like fun fact the shampoo girl, the shampoo girl who was shampooing laurealized, yes, stagg ass hair, so it would be so it would be uh, wait a minute, what does this saying? Wait a minute, I see Jackie says, wait a minute, I see what you see. Very interesting with Marion Ross. Oh,

the controversy continued. This was her last episode, But did she like have credits and other ones because her characters mentioned or she has she's suppost been the next episode. We can't tell you yet. Jackie's just sort of messaging. Okay. Now my name is Jackie. I work at help desk. All right, here we are. Fun fact. The shampoo girl shampooing laurelized raggedy hair was played by Patty Malcolm, who was actually Laurence standing. Yes, very fun fact. That's a

fun fact. Yeah, that's that's the girl that stood there. Yeah, yeah, Okay. The crack Staff's favorite line. The crack staff, Now have they been? They promoted themselves to wow, part of the ball club. I said, I like that. Come on into the duck out, come on over from the minor leagues into the major league field. Here we go, like the

crack Staff's favorite. Look, that's a declaration right there. When Paris is mad at janet It and tells Rory, I'm going to grab Barbie's neck and squeeze until her expandable hair falls out and she's dead, dead dead. Oh well, okay, crack staffs a little crack. I'm getting a little scared. Now, are raises in order? Maybe should just offer preemptively offer raises? So yeah, keep her happy. I mean I can read between the line here. Okay, So back to the Tricks thing.

I just found out what happened and why we're all confused. So Marian Roth has two more episodes in this series, but not as Tricks. So this is Tricks is last episode, but Marian Ross don't tell me? Are you gonna find out? Next episode? How about that? Good? But this is the end of Tricks, but not the end of Marian Ross. Alright, that's that's a nice little tike comes back as like the sister or the aunt or she's younger. She comes back younger. Crack Staff is not happy right now. They're

screaming at me right now in this right here. Oh my god, I just saw Danielle just put a note in the chat of the next episode. And let me tell you Season of four, episode fifteen, seen in a mall. The next episode. All right, well, that's gonna do with folks. Danielle, did you do you have your You don't have didn't you didn't show Scott your Christmas gift I gave you? Where is it? Do you have it? You have to show? Oh? Yeah, Scott,

look at this. Yeah, look what I got made for Let me take it out of the shiny I did. Everyone's some new notebook. I didn't make that. I didn't make the cover, did I No? But you'll see why. Oh my god, first of all my notes. I know why. I don't need an explanation. Uh huh uh, Danielle said, Okay, isn't that so cute? When Amy gave this to me, I was like, who's Danielle? Is that character? Op? So it's a notebook and literally, you guys can get this

on Amazon. And the notebook says Lorelai and Rory and Lane and Suki and Emily and Paris and and then you can get it like personalistomized that your friend's name, and so it says and Danielle and daniel she made it on the cover before I did, and I was in the damn show. That's the way it is. That's that's what you be funny. If it's at m luke, that would be funny. But anyway, I love you guys. I love you to love you back. It's a sad one,

but I'm I'm bouncing back from it. Come on, just just watch the tricksie scene a couple of times, the living room scene. It's it's the best thing. Nuts Nuts, We're good good. Hey, let's you know, let's talk about the the event a little bit more? Should we? Oh? Yeah, you haven't. We haven't. I talked about talked about that. Danielle. Did you send my merch up yet? I had it? I was gonna talk because I'm seeing you at the end of this month. I was like, should I just

can you get with me? Or just scut you on it? Earlier? What Scott was shooting like some of his stuff Danielle was in the merchant. Oh my god. First of all, I could have bought three times that month. I can't wait thousan dollars at the merchant, thousand dollars, I swear to God. Check where up? Danielle has it all right now? Well, one third of it is in Tar's closet, is in mine, and one third is in a bag for Amy, the one I can't wait for you guys. Everyone listening this.

The Smurch store on the Warner Brothers lot had hands down the Rattus merch, Like I need to ask James Pettitt if we can buy it all year long. The flannel, what's on? Which flannel did you get me? Um? Here then grabbit, hold on you guys, it's the Rattus flannel like designer flannel, like good flannel. And on the back. I think I got the one that says no cellphones. Yeah, wait, Daniel, just show a little so, I mean most people have already ended the episode, so that's very large. What size

did you get me? Please? Say this is a medium? Okay, girls size or boy size. I maybe would have been a girl girls but over Yeah, I'll wear it with leggings. Look it says Luke's on the front and says no cell phones. That is so are they still are they still selling this stuff? That's what I'm gonna text James Pettitt right now. See. And then there's one more flannel that says I love coffee, really love coffee. Which one are you? Do you? It was one of those for

you ones? For me? Yeah, I got the I got this one too. I want no cell phones. They're both years. What what about you already? Have we seen it? A thousand dollars? We got multiple flannels, Scott, Scott, you get nothing, thank you, thank you? You are I just wanted to ask, that's fine if I get nothing. Oh my god. The merge was amazing, amazing.
