In some ways, Israel’s judgement looks nothing like our modern culture, but searching deeper, we share in their “uprootedness,” a spiritual homelessness. But it’s precisely in the Babylonian desert God comes to dwell among us, not some “pie in the sky” future, but right now in the places we feel alone and abandoned.
