I had so much fun interviewing someone who is so aligned with the mission and philosophy of How Writers Write. In a lot of ways, I felt as if I was interviewing a philosopher-writer, someone who writes beautiful stories, but also deeply engages with the writing life. James is someone who has such a rooting in himself and his writing that when we ended the interview, I felt some of that same energy transfer to me.
