Episode description

Michelle Petitpas has had a long nursing career, which was marred by a severe case of abuse by one of her patients. This has made her ever more mindful of the burden on many healthcare professionals, especially nurses, who work in difficult environments but are always expected to be courteous, professional and authentic. With the coronavirus and the healthcare workforce at the front lines essential for national health, this is a good time to revisit the difficulties that nurses and other healthcare workers, including doctors, face and challenge the assumption that because they are knowledgeable about health, healthcare workers must be naturally healthy. In response to an epidemic of burn out and stress, Michelle Petitpas is striving to offer support and solutions to what is potentially a healthcare crisis.
