Episode description

Bear and Jason had the privilege to get Bob Plott, author, houndsman and historian, on the line. Bob is one of the foremost historians of the Plott Hound, and the balsams, gaps, and hollows of North Carolina where their legend was born. Bob describes growing up at the foot of some of the great houndsmen of a foregone generation, and what the Plott Hound means to him and to the Smokey Mountains. Bob is the Author of six books about the Great Smokey Mountains, the men that made their mark there, and the dogs they kept. We get to talking about the challenges of being a historian for family. What keeps him writing, and how he and his dogs still get stopped on the street and asked what breed they are. "We are Plotts" pretty much covers it.

This was one for the history books folks.
