Episode description

For episode 11 of the PAPYRUS HOPECAST we are joined by Dane Buckley from Rainbow Migration (formerly UKLGIG) as part of LGBT+ History Month. Dane is the Support Services Manager for Rainbow Migration and he leads on growing, developing and delivering services offering practical, psychosocial and emotional support to LGBTQI+ people who are seeking asylum.

Rainbow Migration is an organisation that supports LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, and provides legal advice and information to LGBT+ people seeking to live in the UK. His previous role was in the Leaving Care Team (Medway Social Services) and before that he was the Wellbeing Service Manager for the London Irish Centre. He is from Harrow and lives in Kent. He identifies as gay and is of Irish and Anglo-Indian heritage.

We caught up with Dane earlier this year via Zoom to learn more about the brilliant work that Rainbow Migration is doing. In this podcast we discuss mental health within the LGBTQI+ community, Dane gave us some of his best self-care tips, and we also talked about HOPE.
