I’m Nadia Davis, a mom, attorney, kundalini yoga teacher, and author of "Home is Within You, A Memoir of Recovery and Redemption" and roadmap out of the choking grasp of shame. We all struggle in life, and, more importantly, we all deserve a safe place to share, cry, and be vulnerable. So why does it seem we live in a society and mind addicted to shaming our struggles? It’s time that change. It's time we choose love over fear and judgment in our response to others, and time we have a safe place within ourselves that heals all. Public shame added layers on unrecognized shame within me and brought me to my knees. I found a way out of darkness and today I stand tall in my truth living the work every day to stay grounded in a home within me. We ask: How does shame manifest; why it is such a powerful emotion; how does it damage us mentally, physically, and spiritually; how do we free ourselves and transform shame into power?
