One would think that a 70 year old film franchise wouldn't have anything new to say, but Takashi Yamasaki's "Godzilla Minus One" breathes new life into the character of Godzilla and Kaiju films all together. In a sea of big budget movies what's so different about this $15Million monster movie. Let's talk about it

And on the Town Business portion of the show Camille talks to us about some upcoming theater projects at the Selma Art Center (SAC) in which she is serving as producer. The plays "School Girls: Or ...
"Art is the sensuous presentation of ideas" - Hegel Mark Jenken's 2023 film "Enys Men" takes experimental horror to a new level. Although the director describes the movie as a "Cornish Folk Tale" it has all the ingredients to make a great high concept / folk horror stew. So was the film any good.....???? Lets get into it.

As aunty Erykah would say "If we were made in his image then call us by our names". Vicaria is a brilliant teen who believes death is a disease and can be cured......... "Angry Black Girl and Her Monster" is a modern day retelling of Mary Shelly's classic novel "Frankenstein"(The Modern Prometheus) written and directed by Bomani J. Story starring Laya Deleon Hayes, Chad Coleman, Denzel Whitaker. I finally watched it and I have some thoughts....Can I talk to you about it????...
With it's sequel (Truth of The Divine) already being released, I was eager to finish the 1st novel in the "Noumena" series of books. Being a fan of author's ( Lindsay Ellis ) video essays I had high hopes for the novel. After reading it I have some thoughts, what did I think? The answer to that question is greatly expounded upon in todays episode.
"Whoever fights with monsters should see to it that he does not become one himself." - Nietzsche. Watching this movie was like staring into the abyss, and after about 30 minutes the abyss began to stare back. On today's episode I delve into "The Retaliators", a quasi religious, nonsensical romp in absurdity.(and that may not be a bad thing) Although the movie is a disjointed affair, full of plot holes, bizarre shifts in tone, and unresolved story threads, I didn't hate it. Now that's not to say ...
Needless to say I had this movie circled on my calendar. I started my Holiday weekend off right and took my Black ass to see " The Blackening", and I do have some thoughts. On today's episode I talk the latest film by Tim Story
So it took me about 3000 Years to get to it, but seeing how now I have an outlet to do so I would like to talk about the 2022 George Miller film "3000 Years Of Longing" (starring Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba). To me the movie is somewhat "Aladin" meets "When Harry Met Sally" and you wouldn't think that would work but here we are. This is less of a review more of just me speaking at length on why I love this film and why I find it engrossing.
I finally got around to watching the highly acclaimed Spanish film "Huesera: The Bone Woman", the directorial debut from Michelle Garza Cervera starring Natalia Solian, and needless to say I have some thoughts. This will be the 1st foreign film I tackle on the podcast and a fine way to commemorate my 13th episode seeing how I had to do something a little different.... (Get it? because the podcast is called Holiday The 13th)......... wink wink*...
In anticipation of the new film by Bomani J. Story "The Angry Black Girl And Her Monster" which is the latest take on Mary Shelley's classic novel "Frankenstien"(The Modern Prometheus), I elected to talk about the oringal book and other films surrounding the mythos of the Shelly's magnum opus.
As "Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3" ends its opening weekend run, I thought it would be a proper time to talk about James Gunn's latest edition to his trilogy. Being a fan of the franchise I was excited to see this one so needless to say I had some thoughts on the film. I"d say this is less of a review and more of a discussion about plot, themes, and the overall impression the movie left on me.

Will my vitriolic views be validated, or will Camille be victorious in her vindication of the shows core values. orrrr?
