In this episode, we talk with Linda Akeson McGurk. She is an author, journalist, outdoor advocate, and mother of 2 who lives in Sweden.  Linda is passionate about promoting the benefits of outdoor experiences for families and children.  She has a blog Rain Or Shine Mama and wrote the book There's No Such Thing As Bad Weather.   As she puts it in her book, Scandinavia’s nature-centric culture embodied in the term of friluftsliv is not just the sum of all outdoor activities people take part in, rather it’s a way of life that to this day is considered key to raising healthy, well rounded, and eco-conscious children.  We dive into the details of her book and what it means to create a lifestyle of friluftsliv.  We also talk about the differences in school systems and raising children between the USA and Sweeden.  If you are a teacher, parent, grandparent, or anyone hoping to engage and advocate for children more in the outdoors this podcast is for you!
