I'm going to clear that one up right now. That is not true. Who started that rumor? I mean multiple people, TMZ No, multiple people have said TMZ hasn't talked about you since Jennifer Love and I don't even think TMZ was around then. Oh man, And by the way, we are back. Um So I heard that rumor that you were managing in ours. It was untrue. Next, from my understanding, they have pretty good benefits, so you might want to look into that. And then second you I know you

were you were an avid Mario Kart player. I think you were in a Mario Kart championship or something like that. I was doing. I was dabbling in some Mario Kart tournaments and that's with our our buddy Captain Quinn. You guys play a lot of Mario Who's Who's Where are you getting your insider info from? I only? I only, I only spend days with you at the podcast studio because that's all I can handle of you. Who is feeding you this info? Like I said, I'm Colombian and Russian,

so you got you got eyes on me? Any any other rumors we need to address, Dave, No, that's really it. Um, I'm concerned about your Mavericks. How are you feeling about them? I'm I'm not. Why are you concerned just because you're you're at the top looking down at everybody? Stupid Sixers. Yeah, we get the stupid sixers seed in the East, although I know they won't win the championship or even make it to the final. I am, I'm not concerned. We

are the fifth seed. Okay, We're going to play Denver in the first round and uh and I feel good. I wanted anybody about the Clippers. How do you feel like? Do you have that one team that you don't want and then you'll take anybody else? You know, I just know, no matter what, we'll lose. So you're gonna play a play game like somebody's gonna be in the plane. You'll be fine, You'll be fine. All right. Well, look, I'm glad to be back. How pumped are you for our

guests today? I'm pretty excited. I actually interviewed our guest in two thousand six, believe it or not, at the premiere of his own Way here in l A or or overseas in l A. It was in Westwood. Yeah, I was there. It was a really really cool premiere. Um, I was there. Uh, My mom might have even been. Were you there? Mom? We've got mom in the students. Mom is in the stand. She stayed for Mother's Day and I haven't been able to get rid of her since.

Well I think it's the opposite. I think she hasn't been able to get rid of been able to get rid of me. Yeah, alright, Mom, that's enough. People can hear this, People can hear this. Um yeah, no, I'm I'm really excited. Brandon ralth Is is just one one hell of a guy, one one heck of an actor. Uh. And and his story that me and you have been talking about leading up to this is is a pretty pretty awesome one. And uh yeah, I'm I'm. I mean, we've got a superhero on our show. He is he

is our I think he's our first superhero. What do you mean you think he's definitely our first superhero. Well, we've had a lot of great guests, so we've got we we have had a lot of great guests. This is our first superhero, Okay, Dave. Before Kyle Kyles given me that, I like, we're almost we're almost ready for for our guests. So before we get into our guest. Question that I've been wanting to ask you is if

if I'm I'm thirty seven, how old are you? Right, I'm I'm forty your forty Okay, so thirty seven and forty for the first forty years of your life, if you could give yourself a g p A A grade, what would be your self assessed to g P A for the first four two years up until this point right now? I mean that is a deep, deep, deep that is a that is I know that you didn't come up with it because you're at a fourth grade reading level, which we've talked about before I came I

came up with this question. You did not. This is someone very highly intelligent. No, nobody else. I'm not I'm not divulging anything, but it's not you. I just want you to answer the question. Um, I mean considering that I've I've taken a lot of losses in life. Um, how many losses? Are we talking about? Multiple losses? Kyle? Do you do you think Dave's taken a lot of losses? If Kyle, if our producer says you've taken a lot

of losses, You've taken a lot of losses. Here. Here's the thing, though, Dave, is that I'm I'm going to write down what I think your g p A is and then I want you to talk it out and tell the audience what your g p A is and I want to see how close we are. And then we're gonna do vice versa. And the reason one is because you're gonna self assess yourself. But I think that your g p A is going to be a little bit higher than you think it is. You say you've taken a lot of loss Look at is this with

honors classes? Is this based on a four DA? No, this is a four Stop it for two seconds. It's based is a four point of scale. Everyone knows. So there's no honors, there's no and you have to you have to look at everything. Okay, do you own you own a home? Do you off? Have you helped? Have you officiated weddings? Have you helped out? You know others like how big is your heard? All the all of it has included Dave Ossica. Okay, so I want to know.

Hold on, I'm writing mine down. Don't don't don't don't? Uh? All right, I wrote mind down? Maybe, Kyle, do you wanna do you wanna write what you think? Davos is as well? We can get two people. No, you don't say it out loud. Well, Kyle, Tequila thinks you've done a shitty job in life. I mean, that's not bad. It's not bad. would say, at this point in my life, drumroll. We need a drum roll. Kyle, thank you, thank you very much. I'm comfortable going with with the three point three point oh and three point oh in school is a solid B right, yeah, okay, all right, do you want to do you want to know the g p A I came up with for you, sure, Kyle, are you interested in this? The g p A, the life g p A here on Earth school that I have come up with for Dave Ossaco is a three point four. Wow.

That means I value you more than you value yourself. Well, I think most people value me more than that, but I'll take that that's part of the that's part of the reason that you've yes, and Kyle's two point nine for me. I mean that is very true. Okay, all right, So do you want to I mean, do you want to know why three point should we just keep moving this? I mean, you're definitely a three point four. Look you you you have a job where you can provide for yourself. Correct, Okay,

you own a home, you own cars. Okay, so you've done You've done good with like financials. Uh now, let's sure, Well you have a lot of people can't own a home, people can't own cars. True. Now let's go on to the other side, the guy for our audience. The guy still talks to his mom every single day, multiple multiple times a day. The g P A just went up for that, right, Yeah, I mean that's important. Family. Family is very important to you. Friends are very important to you.

Loyalty is very important to you. Right, traveling the world, seeing things, experiencing new stuff. I mean we might have to go a little higher, Dave, might be higher than a three point four. You're selling it, and I appreciate it. Um two point nine from Kyle s Well, no, he's just you know, he's seen a look, he just went up. He see. He's saying, no, he's saying to wrap it up. I thought he was saying I thought he saying, go up a little bit. He's saying, wrap it up, get

done with this. Well, well, let's talk. And I appreciate that, Palot. I appreciate your three point four, um, and I and I will try to uh to keep the jokes at minimum. So what do you think your g P as? Oh? Mine, mine is definitely lower than at three point four. It's definitely lower. Yeah, and even if we took you at thirty seven and me at thirty seven, it would definitely be like let's say, yours three years ago was a three point three three or whatever we want to say. Yeah,

mine's a little lower O, mine's lower. I I I played in I was in Kidville a little too too long, Little yeah, I was in the McDonald's playpin a little bit too uh to too too long, too long in life, I had Kyle Tequila. I mean, did you teach me what crypto was? I didn't even know how to invest money. Do you think at this point you're at like a junior college level at this point? Or well, what would be a junior college level? What are we talking? What's the g p A there? I mean, you got to

be in the mid twos. I would think for junior college, I'm in the mid dave and in the mid twos. Yeah, you're in the mid Okay, thank you. I thought you were saying for sure, I would go, I would look, it's it's hard to assess yourself. But I think I'm just now creeping up on like a three point Oh okay, I think I'm just now getting there. Okay, you know yeah, So I mean I feel like that's fair. Well, I do think, well, yeah, that deserve applause, That does deserve applies.

I do think is it for the crypto investment or? I do think based on our I think both of us. However, we have to really be honest with the fact that because of the sports teams that we choose to be fans of, that probably lowers our g p A tremendously. Well, wouldn't in The Mavericks won a championship in two thousand eleven. Yeah, well, the Sixers one one in the eighties. So maybe so maybe it lowers your g p A, but it's not lowering mind. Yeah. Well, okay, fair enough. Did you get

Thanks guys, thanks for having me look at that. We got some clappits going on in this fired from my house. Um, Brandon, we want to dive right into Dave and I right before um uh you you logged on. We were just talking about we were grading each other. And what I mean by that is

we were we were self assessing. If if Davo is forty years old and I'm thirty seven, Davo was self assessing himself for the first forty years, if he had to put it in a g p A. Okay, So we basically are calling um, so not not judging. We're not judging. We're not judging. It's it's it's Earth school

right like we're here on Earth school right now. And if you had to give yourself a g p A in the first you don't have to say your age, But however long you've been on Earth, we want to know we've given you a g p A. We want to know what Brandon would give him. What g p A you'd give yourself of life, skills of of life, just all life, all inclusive. I mean, prior to the pandemic, I probably would have given myself a higher score. I think I think we all would have write was host pandemic.

I've certainly learned a lot about myself and my limitations and my challenges, which has been really good. Uh like like uh steam steam cooker. Uh what's the long pressure cooker of? Like yep, self and action. Um so in my sixty three years one years, I guess i'd give myself maybe a three point oh. Now, all right, a three point oh. That's okay, okay, but can we just tavo you know at the top of the show what I gave my seat high and let me tell you, no, no, Brandon,

that that's pretty good. No, no, I am I'm actually curious what would you give Jared? Wait, wait, bit, hold on, wait, oh here we go, wait hold on, let me let me just talk for two seconds here and then Brandon can can give me one is I've known Brandon since I was twenty one years old, sixteen years and we just know what we were talking about at the top of the show, and what I said, I gave myself. I gave myself Brandon a three point oh. I said,

I'm just now coming into three point oh. I know me and I definitely know you, and ain't no way in God's Earth at you're a three point. Oh you are way above above me right now in life. Well, I kind of say, you gotta know how everyone else is grading themselves maybe to to to know how well. Yeah, so so you know, listen, if Jared gave himself a thing, then you're like a four. Well, well that's no. That's the thing with Brandon is Brandon. Brandon has always had

the kindest heart in the world. Right, that's huge on the g p A scale. He's he's a loyal husband. That's huge on the GPS. Good Midwest boy, that's big Midwest guy. You get points just for being from the Midwest. He is a a an extremely loyal father, you know. Yeah, like dedicated to being a family guy. And we know how much we put we put that on this great hair which he has that hurts our. I didn't know that. Yeah, no, that's in there. If you knew the heroes of the

g p A, how high to do? How high did the g P A half? So Tequila, Tequila and Ralph need to hang out. Yeah, that's that's what it air wars. Yeah, that's that's interesting. It's always interesting to self assess yourself as opposed to being assessed by by by By others. You know, I mean, what would you what are you? What are you giving Brandon from Afar? I know, I mean what I find it's interesting that he said is

that he had a different assessment pre pandemic and post pandemic. So, you know, I think a lot of people took this time and a lot of people grew from it. Um and it's very odd that in our time on this planet that we were all able to take an extended breaks the strangest thing in the history of the world. Well, I'm glad that you're managing that Arby's in Oklahoma now because it gives me a lot of time to not

see you that often. I don't know if Brandon, did you tell Brandon that you're the GM of an Arby's in Oklahoma. Don't listen to him, Brandon full benefits for this kid. Don't don't listen to it. But I think it's they do have the meat. Jared's got the meats. But I think that, you know, there's a lot to be said for that because there was so much time that people got to just stop and and take a deep breath and exhale and invest in bitcoin like you did.

But you know, it's really interesting that you said that that your assessment was a little bit different pre compared to post. So how do you feel you learned a lot in this in this time, this downtime about yourself? Yes? And what was that? Was that something that you enjoyed kind of discovering about yourself or was it kind of an odd feeling? I mean, especially as a working actor, it must have been strange to just be on that extended break. Uh yeah, I mean yeah, you're used to breaks.

I'm used to breaks as an actor. You know, sometimes a big hiatus between seasons or between jobs depending. Um. But the hard thing is when as a big break and there's no you don't know when you're going back or or there's no goal, which is that open ended? When when is when's the next time that that work is going to happen? Because as as the pandemic ended, I finished the show. I was done on the show that I've been on for four years, and so that was like going into the pandemic. It was kind of

the worst case scenario. Um, But then you know, it was nice the rookie thing came up and I did some nice quality episodes of that but so this time anyway, it hasn't been fun. I mean, once you get through it, it's fun and you and you get to the to the other side of it. But it's work, it's it's it's it's your self insuspection. You don't have a therapist that I've been working with on and off for the past four years, trauma therapist. And when I say trauma therapy,

it doesn't mean I have PTSD from wartime. Everyone has their own kind of trauma, varying levels of trauma, but trauma therapist is a specialized therapist for for dealing with childhood trauma that we all we all suffer, either they're

from our parents or from outside sources. UM. Anyway, they have a great way about them and I had been working on and off, but I've been here and just in the last few months have been working more and more with her, UH and that's resulted in some really important um um discoveries UH that I found for myself about how I interact with the world and how we interact with my family. UH. That has it's challenging to grow and to accept certain mistakes and fallibilities that you have.

But when you can get to the other side. Then it's it's great. Yeah, it's better to do the work and get to the other side than continue on, you know, in a path that's not They may not be working very well. Right, Well, I wish Dave would do well. I was going to say that it hasn't even begun his work yet, so he's got he's got a long road to climb, long road ahead of him. I'm I'm I'm climbing. I'm climbing, b Ralph, I'm climbing. I'm trying. Yeah, we're all doing the best that we can with the

tools that we have, exactly exactly. So with that being said, um, we'll get into some of our questions here. And uh, you know, you're in a unique situation, um, as a

as a former superhero. And uh, it's interesting because years ago I had coffee with Tom Holland about a week and a half before Spider Man came out, and I remember telling Tom, this might be the last time that you're able to have a normal coffee outside of a cafe as as a as a civilian, as somebody that people aren't gonna, you know, lose their minds over when they see And it was kind of interesting and you know, he's a great young man, but it was kind of

kind of scary for him too at the same time, because he was like, oh my god, I haven't even thought about that. It was literally ten days before Spider Man came out, and I was like, if we try to have coffee eleven days from now, which is the day after Spider Man comes out, it's going to be a completely different scenario. So in a way, you know, I equated to this is a sports and entertainment show. I equated to minor league players in minor league baseball

or in the D League in basketball. You know, when they make that shift into superstardom. And for you, you were a working actor. You were around um, but you were quote unquote kind of you know, not in the big leagues and the big show. And then you had this tremendous opportunity to play the Man of Steel, one of the most coveted roles in the history of film or television. Uh, with an amazing director. You know that that pushed for you as an unknown at the time.

So what was that like for you, because it kind of reminds me of when Jeremy Lynn, you know, was in the in the NBA with the New York Knicks and how he took over basketball for literally for a month, all anybody talked about was Jeremy Lynch. It's just so

interesting because nobody knows who Jeremy lynn was. And just like if if you take you know, the the soap opera fans aside, you know, technically nobody knows who Brandon Rolph is, and then overnight it's all of a sudden, you're in the majors and now you know, all eyes on you. Yeah, yeah, no, it's the soap fans. Uh,

one might have to live. Fans knew, knew who I was a little bit um, but yeah, that was very very very few opportunities walking in New York when I was feeling that that somebody would recognize me from from that Um Yeah, I mean I think I think I anticipated that it would be a bigger problem than it ended up being, and that actually kind of put I put myself into my own box for a little while. Uh, concerned about how much attention I would get, um, and

was concerned about that and my anonimity and stuff. So I again, I think I had too much anxiety and worry about that for for a couple of years, because the truth was, it wasn't never as big as I, thank thank goodness, as as I think it is for a lot of people. I think that had to do with the success of the movie, or the movie did well, but not it wasn't blockbusters. It wasn't like any of

the Marvel movies. Um and and also while I was the star of the movie in the trailers and all the stuff, I wasn't I my face wasn't front and center and a lot of the promotional stuff some of it so people knew my face, but not not as much so anyway, and saying a lot of words to say that it wasn't as big of it. I did get noticed, and I do when I go out in public.

I tend to wear a hat at this point because I have played many more characters since then, um and and get noticed from from you know, time and again now and again. Um But I've learned to deal with it, and I've learned, you know, you learn how to manage it. And that's not as scary as as it was in

my head. Right, yeah, but how how about the feeling brandon of of and again, we always we always like to parallel things from the sports world to the ntagent world here, but like, how about the feeling of playing at this level and all of a sudden like forget forget the fame and being noticed in the second right now now talk to us for a second of like, Okay, I'm now in the game, I'm now here, and and I'm now meeting with people that I've like grown up watching,

grown up you know, you know what I mean, Like you were you were, I mean I was there with you. You were in the game. Yeah, I mean I think that you know, good and bad. Naivete helped coming from a small town and not knowing exactly what I was getting into. Still, even three years into my acting career,

I was still pretty naive about a lot of things. UM. So that helped in some ways because I wasn't worried and I wasn't concerned about other things that I probably should have been concerned and worried about, um pressure from the studio and all kinds of other outward pressure. UM. And I was fairly confident in myself and my ability to speak uh and do interviews and maintain a public persona and be a good image for the studio and a good image of Superman. Um, I prioritize a lot

of those things. Knowing that that was being the face of Superman was as important in some ways as the film, the filming of the movie itself. UM So, I know I took that on as I wasn't scared by that. I was kind of I like that challenge, I guess in a way. Um well, I can tell you from from being there that day at the premier and interviewing you, I mean you you were very poised. You were very,

like you said, confident, like relaxed. It seemed like you had been doing it for for years and years and years. So I don't know if if that was intended, or if that was a really great acting job, or you know, you definitely had such a good head on your shoulders. I remember that vividly. Thanks. Well, I think I settled into you know, I felt I felt that I that I belonged there with this role anyway. I I felt worthy um of of taking on the mantle, especially at

that time when we were promoting the movie. You know, I did a lot of work to character work to get into and feel comfortable stepping into the shoes, the wonderful shoes that christ to Reeve Um had had had left the Cape Um and honoring the legacy of Superman was very important to me. So I just that was always front and center for me. So I felt like as long as I knew that un dedicated myself, I could speak Um, I could speak speak well and and

continue that positive legacy of the character. Yeah, no, for sure. So well, just just to wrap it up real quick. Is the crazy thing though, is is post Superman, you know, is like it is like now now he's there. You know. It's like so one one day, one day you're not kind of there, and now the next day you're there. And I and and and I was. I was, you know, I was there for it all. And I got to kind of like, you know, watch him. I mean I remember going overseas to uh where do we go? Paris?

I think Paris. Yeah, we went to Paris and I watched you know that premiere and then we and then we get back and it's it's like, you know, it's it's then all of a sudden, because it's so funny. It's so interesting that with with athletes and with actors, right, Brandon, it's you could be putting in the work for so

many years, so many years. An athlete, you know, an athlete could be in the like Dave was saying, in the miners or the G League or you know whatever kind of development league, and they and they're the same person as when they finally got found. But but all of a sudden, you have been found, and now you have this whole new landscape to go and and and and and on. Yeah, you know, I think, uh, I think that the challenge of that is for me. I

can want to speak for me. I guess was that I skipped over Um, I skipped over a lot of important steps because I was elevated to the status or I worked hard for Superman, but it was a kind of a role that was made for me, or that I was made for uh and um so I had gotten acting jobs from auditioning and stuff, but I had not fully developed that skill and some other internal things I needed to work on. So when I got that role, I the message that I received was that, oh, I

don't need to work on those things anymore. I've already made it. And you, as an actor, you don't get most time, you don't get to play just one character. You have to be able to do other things and really get in touch with the emotions and know when you're seaking truth not just as one character, but as

multiple different characters. And so I have had to kind of go back and work on some of that stuff and understand that I had that that that I that I skipped, that I got some privilege in that way. I have a lot of privilege, but um, but that was another way that I got. I got the fast pass ahead and but I got to realize, actually, I need to go back and I need to learn those some of those skills. And it's been a challenge, but

it's been part of my process. So it's good and bad. Yeah. Well, I think I wish that Superman had had some spidy senses and not traveled with Jared. I mean, that would have been the first thing that I would have been were on a different thing, just showed up in the same plot. Okay, cool, I couldn't know.
