Each year, the New Zealand social enterprise SpaceBase runs a research incubator to help explore space-related technologies for climate change.

In this episode of Voices, Kadambari Raghukumar talks to the co-founders of SpaceBase Eric Dahlstrom and Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom.

Phillipines-born Emeline and US-born Eric recently received the KEA 'Friends of NZ award' for their contribution towards helping put New Zealand on the global map for space innovation.

Emeline and Eric moved to New Zealand a few months after the New Zealand Space Agency Space Agency was formed in 2016.

Since then, space research has been on an upward trend in Aotearoa. By the end of 2019, the industry was worth about $NZ1.6 billion.
