Episode description

The author's mother, a Polish-Russian Jewish emigrée and mathematical genius, is dying. Rumour has it that she has solved one of the Millennium Problems, a set of problems put forth by legendary mathematician David Hilbert over a century ago, each associated with a million-dollar award. As the family gets together to mourn her loss with the Jewish tradition of Shiva, they are accompanied by a hoard of mathematicians, who leave no floorboard unturned in their search for her solution. The chaos is not unlike that described by the Navier-Stokes equation that they are after.
