Godzilla Raids Again (1955) brought the King of the Monsters back just one year after his debut, introducing his first-ever kaiju opponent—Anguirus—and setting the stage for the monster-versus-monster formula. Meanwhile, Son of Kong (1933) followed hot on the heels of the original King Kong, offering a lighter, more adventurous tone with the introduction of Kong’s endearing offspring.
