Episode description

In this episode Miranda speaks with Maya Thomas and Chris Mulford about their project to save the Dox Thrash House. Dox (1893-1965) was the co-inventory of the mezzotint carborundum process, the first African American to be hired at the Fine Print Shop of Philadelphia, and a pillar of the arts community. His house is located in the historic Sharswood neighbourhood in Philadelphia but now sits vacant. Maya and Chris are looking to change that through an ambitious crowdfunding campaign to raise $100,000 to purchase the building. We talk about the life of Dox, the importance of historic preservation, and the role that the house will have in the community once it’s been restored.pine|copper|lime is partnering with Speedball Art Products Co. to help raise funds for this project. Anyone who donates $50 or more to the project will be entered to win a stunning package of Speedball products.
