Episode description

In this episode Miranda speaks with Stephanie Alaniz an intersectional feminist, fat activist, and adjunct professor at Emporia State University. Alaniz uses social media to crowd source participants for a project in which she draws stunning portraits of her subjects with their self-reported physical insecurities portrayed in bold. Through painstakingly rendering her subjects with precise draftsmanship, Alaniz documents the collected insecurities allowing the viewer to see the patterns and the underlying social programming which contributes to our shared anxieties. These include fatphobia, ageism, and Euro-centric ideologies.[more information]PCL BUSHFIRE FUNDRAISERhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/pinecopperlime-bushfire-fundraiserStephanie Alaniz Websitehttp://stephaniealaniz.comStephanie Alaniz on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/bavarianbaby/528.0 Regional Juried Printmaking Exhibition 2020https://arvadacenter.org/528-0-regional-juried-printmaking-exhibition-2020Shop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com
