Episode description

This is another one the of seven commentaries recorded on Halloween 2021 for the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise commentary marathon we did. We're now designating movie commentaries as exclusively for patrons of our aptly named 'patreon'. But since we just started we thought we'd make at least one or two of them 'public' to see if anyone's interested.

On Halloween Day 2021 we did a seamless marathon viewing of all six (canon) entries in the A Nightmare on Elm Street movie franchise, from the game-changing innovation of the 1984 Wes Craven original all the way to the gobsmackingly chintzy, bizarre, it’s-the-90s-now, LooneyTunes-esque, tonally-clashing 1991 Final Nightmare: Freddy’s Dead.

While still in the Nightmare mindset, Josh watched 1994’s New Nightmare and commented upon this non-canon, highly metafictional, full-circle return of Wes Craven, which pointed strongly toward the next step in popular horror cinema, 1996’s Scream.
