Episode description

Hearing Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimers - Are They Connected?

According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), a part of the US Government's National Institutes of Health (NIH), they are connected.

There are numerous studies in PubMed showing that people who have hearing loss are more likely to develop dementia of any kind than those who have no hearing impairment.

People with hearing loss who don't get some kind of "intervention" such as a hearing aid or implant tend to have more brain shrinkage which also correlates with cognitive decline.

Listen to this podcast to learn more about the causes of hearing loss, getting your hearing tested, how to deal with hearing loss, and how to communicate with others who have a hearing loss.

You'll also learn why I especially wanted to share this information with others.
