S4E9: Amy Archer-Gilligan, Inspiration for Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)

This week, we talk about #AmyArcherGilligan, a #nursinghome proprietor and #serialkiller from #WindsorConnecticut . She #murdered at least five people by #poisoning them. One of her victims was her second husband, Michael Gilligan; the others were residents of her nursing home. It is possible that Archer-Gilligan was involved in more deaths. The authorities counted 48 deaths in her nursing home, the "Archer Home for the Elderly and Infirm."

Next week, we will talk about #ArsenicandOldLace , a 1944 #American #screwball #mystery #darkcomedy #film directed by #FrankCapra and starring #CaryGrant . On the Broadway stage, #BorisKarloff played #JonathanBrewster , who is said to "look like #BorisKarloff ". According to #TurnerClassicMovies , Karloff remained in the play to appease the producers, who were afraid of what stripping the play of all its primary cast would do to ticket sales. #JosephineHull and #JeanAdair portray the Brewster sisters, Abby and Martha, respectively.
