Episode description

Cry-Baby is a 1990 American teen musical romantic comedy film written and directed by John Waters. The film stars Johnny Depp as 1950s teen rebel "Cry-Baby" Wade Walker, and also features a large ensemble cast that includes Iggy Pop and Ricki Lake. John Waters noticed the media's framing of the case in the context of the negative aspects of Baltimore's drape youth subculture, later inspiring him to make the movie Cry Baby. Carolyn Loretta Wasilewski was the 14-year-old victim of an unsolved murder near her home in Baltimore, Maryland. Carolyn was part of the drape sub-culture in Baltimore, leading to papers victim blaming her for her murder.
