One of the big viral trends on TikTok is a gen Z posting about checking out of hotels. A woman, a Gen Z woman, it posted a post on TikTok. She's walking out of the door of a hotel into the parking lot. And she said, older generations, this is how you check out of a hotel. You just walk out. The front desk does not need you to tell them you're checking out, and they don't need you to hand them your room key.
Now, this is technically correct in most places, but a lot of people in the comments on TikTok are saying rude. One person said, as a former housekeeper, it does make their job easier. If you're polite, let somebody know. A lot of folks pitched in and said they only let the desk know they're leaving if they're leaving considerably early in hopes that maybe the process of cleaning the rooms would be more efficient. People could, you know, have an early check in available, stuff like that.
