Hey will Will what? Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day?

Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day? I think I get that right right? Yes? Did you get me a gift? Yes, it's in the mail? Okay, okay, weird to put it in the mail. We work in the same place, but in honor of that, we have two of the coolest guests. We are so excited, two incredible women who have been at the forefront of the Panther's

efforts for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. But more than that, just two of the most creative, hardworking, kind, talented people will that you and I know, and that is our incredible social team, Amy Keen and Angela den o'hean. Guys, this is exciting because I just banged on the table.

I'm sorry, but I'm excited because we're friends. But because there's a microphone in front of all of us, I get to ask you guys questions and we might get a question in you know, one or two and at some point, but I get to ask you guys questions as a fan of your work, because you know that I am such a fan of your work, and now it gives me legitimacy to ask all the questions that I want to ask because other people will benefit from

it too. So welcome. I'm so excited. Thank you. I wish everyone could know that We've been talking for so long before this recording got started, just having fun. Making fun of mostly Will, so yeah, naturally, yeah, of course, but it's it's a pleasure being here. Um, Angela and I have you know, haven't really talking about what we do, so talking shop, talking talking shop on National Girls Women in Sports Day. Um, I mean we feel honored. So Angela,

how are you doing? How are you feeling today? And this is a this is a big day to get interviewed by Will, Like who are we? What are we doing? This is next level? Yeah, we it's kind of like very meta because we tweet about the podcast and now we're you're gonna have the podcast. You're gonna now have to pick a clip of yourself. I know, this is this is tantalizing. So as a fan, you know, I was a fan of this team well before I ever

thought about working here. And when I was talking to our our boss's boss who who hires everyone, one of the things I said to him was, you know, I said, I've been a fan of this team for a long time, but I am equally, if not more so, a fan of what the digital team does. And I didn't know you guys before I came here. I just came at

it from a fan's perspective. And I remember thinking, gosh, if this is the environment that allows this kind of creativity, and these people who are putting out this incredible content work here, I know that's a place like I should be so lucky to get a chance to work there. And you two are at the forefront of that. And there are a lot of people that that go into the process of people making such a creative stuff and

putting it out for the world. But I mean, you two are really the minds behind everything that goes out on our social media channels and so much more so, I was wondering if we could promise I'll stop embarrassing you guys and waxing poem Dick and actually ask you questions. But I just I get so excited. Um, what does a typical day look like for both of you? Because the thing that I've learned is how much that everyone

doesn't see goes into both of your jobs. Yeah. Well, if if you are a listener of this, you should be very glad because if you saw me right now, you would see that I have lots of bags under my eyes. Oh thank you. Um that is mainly because we are on twenty full seven. Um, you know, hey, rap sheet posted about a big trade Saturday. I was like, do we do something? Do we do something? We had content ready and we were texting our boss and we're like, hey,

should we do this? And he's like, I don't know, maybe maybe not. Let's test it out, let's feel it out. We ultimately didn't, but like, that's kind of like we always have to. I wish I could have a cool, like like motto right now if you're like you stay ready, don't have to be ready, or something like wishing that that was like our motto on social. That is not the motto on social. It's kind of like, um, let's just have a bunch of stuff and like let's have fun.

U okay, bub if you're following, um, I am an adult and I did go to college. Um So basically I would say I'll let and just way more of the fun stuff. I'm more in the in how we all communicate in in this digital world. Is we have everything in slack, so Angel and I are constantly in communication and a lot of where our ideas come from, you know, involved with the whole team, like the photo team, the video team, obviously the podcast team. Um is, we

just want to want to make each other laugh. So a lot of like people actually find it that this is an actual thing. Like in our slack, we actually have a channel that's called memes where we just send funny things we see on the internet to each other and then sometimes you see them on Panther Social. So a lot of what we do is be online. So you know, my fiance and I he gives me a hard time because I'll be on my phone. He's like,

I thought you weren't working. I'm like, well, He's like, you're just on TikTok and I'm like, well, I kind of working because I'm just looking. I'm looking at what's cool in in in the web, but you know, an online on mobile um. And so that's I would say that's a typical day. Now most of the times i'm in I'm in meetings UM talking about the memes and stuff that Angela is creating. But so that's that's on

the typical day. On my side, I'm more of trying to make sure the ship is running were well, Angela is the one that's actually doing the cool stuff and tossing it over. I think the best part is that there's not a day that looks the same as yesterday, Like there's something new happening every single day, whether that's football news, like random trades, or people are in our mentions like you should do this, you should do that,

and we can't do anything. Um But I think the biggest part is that when something is trending, you have such a short window to either jump on it or to figure out like business match or voices is something that we can do to kind of tailor to us. Um. But every single day we have what if conversations, So we have you know, channels, our meme channel will send stuff like what if we did this and what if we did that? And some of our best ideas have come from that of like what do you guys think?

Is this funny? Or am I just is it just funny to me? Like how can we you know, create this? So I think honestly we are on seven, whether that's new music coming out, like is that someone that's from Carolina or you know, is it like like there's a Drake video that happened I think last summer and kind of blew up until we did some memes with that when we were going into football for COVID and different things that you can kind of tailor to our voice.

But being in tune with even just music has nothing to do with football. But if we can you know, relate that to us and people are talking about it on social that's something that we can jump on and ultimately can be fun and you know it works. So yeah, I think we're not on memes, We're on tixap and said, so we just keep going and finding different things that we can kind of create. I got so excited. I'm

sorry interrupted you, Angela, but I want to explain. Here's here's a perfect example, kab So for you know, one thing that kind of like popped off for us in the off season was us, you know, saying, Brandon Johnson, one of our videographers, we put him in Madden, and

this whole idea came from it. This We've been talking about this for months when Madden sent us all these clips and we realized that, you know, one of them kind of looks like Brandon, our videographer, And this is a perfect example of us being like, this is kind of funny, Like he made it his icon on Slack and we were just ribbing him on it. And this is where Angela and Brandon were in our Meme channel was like, hey, you know, let's make this a real thing,

Like could we make this a TikTok? Would this be funny? And they just made it one day and they're like is this funny or is this just us? And like, you know, I wish you could see all like the flame emojis that were in slack that we're like, this is amazing, this is fire. Now. Was that something that

like we thought would pop off. I mean, we thought it was really good, but I mean that just goes to show you that sometimes the stuff that we make is to make each other laugh, and we were like, hey, this also works for our matches, our voice, just like

Angela said, so that I think that's the really exciting things. Like, um, I give and this is a throwback, and I give angelot of credit because like her first like she started mid season UM in twenty nineteen, UM, and one of the first things she did was we had this, Um, this is gonna sound like a thirst travel it's not trying to be so I apologized, but keeping it real

and the happy aff hour. Um, there's this photo of Christian McCaffrey where he was without a shirt, and um, we knew that that would maybe be something that some of the fans would want and and one of her first big viral tweets was about and you want to you you explain it because I think this is one of my favorite memories of you. Yeah, it was my first big win. So I keep this really, you know, close.

But it was basically I was turning on Twitter and it was like, I'm gonna tell my kids that this is whoever right, and so it was like photo that they kind of look like, or you know, you're gonna trick your kids later on whatever. So I don't know how I thought of this. I was scrolling one day and I saw a photo of John Cena and I was like, oh my god, what if we use this? And he was like flexing, and I'm like, what if

we use this with a picture of Christian? And I didn't know I think Christians a fan because once we posted it, he was like, now you see me now started sharing it on his story and I was like yes. Like, when you get the players to comment and to share, at least you know they like your content, they're kind of engaging, but then they also get you know, their followers in tune with the stuff that you're doing too, So that's kind of how you gauge a win from

a player's standpoint. But that was my first big win and I was like, Okay, I can do this. You know, I got this. We can keep rolling with it. So she had many sense, but that one is that's the o G one that I love, the first one, always a special And that was definitely a what if conversation because I texted Amy and I was like, I don't know if we can do this. I know we usually don't post the guys like this, but what if we did this. Here are two photos that could work. And

so we sent it off for approvals. It was approved, and we posted it and it did really well, did very I was actually that was I was going to ask you guys about that, which is like, what are what are times that you were like, I don't know if I'm the only one that thinks this is funny, but things have blown up. But you just gave to awesome examples of that, and that is why I, you know, without knowing you guys, I was like, oh my god,

these people are the greatest. Remember meeting with both of you virtually via Slack, and I remember Angela sent me a Slack message and she was like, Hi, I'm Angela An the Social Team just want to welcome you here. And I was like, oh my god, this is someone from the Social team, Like the Social ty's a big deal.

How did you, Amy, And I've asked you this before, how do you as someone who is has been the voice of the Panthers and then when Angela you hire Angela, how do you know you're gonna give this person the keys to the kingdom? You're giving them the password and you just know that they're going to fit the Panther's voice because Angela is so great at it and so

creative and and so funny and inventive. But I imagine that's a lot of pressure for you, as the manager of the department to say, Okay, you know, I don't even know if i'd want someone else tweeting for me. And it's going out to three million people and we have a voice that we've established, So how did you know that Angela was the right person for that? I

love this question because I can talk about Angela. UM. I think the biggest thing is, like anything, is you can't have another sounds like I'm I'm doing coaches speak right now, but it's okay, well we'll well, we'll give you a rating one to ten. You can't have any of those no Iron team. That's that's the one I'm

gonna go with. UM. So I think I think with Angela in particular, is she was like, hey, I'm totally willing to bring myself to the table, but I'm also willing to like because when you talk for a brand, it's different, it's hard, and and I think we we she jumped right in because we started the season and I was like, I need help, here's a lifeline, and Angels like I'm on and I'm coming aboard. Um. So, if you can imagine one person for the social team, is is not a lot of hands. So when Angela

came on, she just fit naturally. She she totally was able to see something and bring her own like flavor to to the team. And she's way like I mean, just looking at how to her, she's way cooler. I mean just I can't even keep up with how cool she is. I don't want to compare, but she's just very cool then, just very very very cool. I am um a third ye old mother, and those of you who are going to be in the comments. You should

just be nice. But so I am not as cool, but like I would say that I'm I'm in like the mom group at the playground that like when you could be at playgrounds, That's that's who I would be and I and so Angela's definitely has brought a new relevancy.

Like she wanted not not to go into another example of one of Angel's viral tweets, but like she had when the snowflake emoji when my favorite, that's my favorite, and I you know, like when that was really popular, Angel sent to me and I was like, what is that context? I was like what, She's like, let's do the snowflake thing and I was like, um, is it smelling? Like what is this on to X? And She's like no, it's like with the sweetie and I'm gonna like mess

this up. It's quave Amy is incredibly cool. Oh yeah, of course saying I can't wait for our boss to listen to this and be like, can you guys stop saying how cool everyone is? But this is this is we're cool. Okay, shout out to both of you guys for I just send a text and I was like look snowflake and noodles. They just go together. Can can we do something like this? And she's like, Canney send me an example of what you're talking about? What are we thinking here? And I was like, Okay, here's what

I'm thinking. Let's see if it works. If not, totally fine. Yeah. And if anyone doesn't know what we're talking about, just you know, Google put the snowflake emoji in there and then the bullet. That's what I had to do. So sometimes I need educating, as you can see. But I think the biggest thing is, like we love making cool stuff and everyone has their own, um like own way to bring it to the table. Like Will is Will and he's you know, just who he is, So like

we bring willness to our content. Yeah, it's it's amazing. And like, you know, we have Brandon Todd, Carson Smucker,

like everyone has their own way of creating content. And I think we've been able to um allow like creativity to flourish because we're like, hey, like Brandon Todd, for example, when his photos are incredible, Will often be like, hey, how do you want to you know, showcase your photos at the end of the season, and him and Angela and Brandon and Daniel, our designer will kind of talk it through. So we have a lot of creative people, and I think we've found a good rhythm of finding

a balance. I mean, obviously we like to keep it fun and that's why our memes. UM, I love that when other people talk about Panther Social like the memes and we're like, yes, because we work really hard on a lot of them don't ever see the light of day, and we've had a few that have not done well. But this is our podcast and so we don't need to talk about it because um, we have that control. But um, I would say it's it's a lot of

it is just keeping it fun and light. So well, okay, so not to go in the other direction, but how hard is it? You see, you guys see a lot of comments all the time, and you're taking that in even though it's not you know, you two don't have anything to do with Roster moves or wins or losses. But you are also, um the conduit through which a lot of people find their information or tweet back or

you know, d m back to the Panthers accounts. Do you get to have a separation, can you separate that because I just feel like I would take it all in, even though I know it's not personally me. Can that ever affect your day? Well, I think we've set up something really that it's now con commonplace with sports teams, UM and their handles is like we welcome like tweet at us, say something yeah yeah, because sometimes we will will snap off, right, angel, I hope I use that

in the corruit context. Um, we will pop off, snap off. Yeah. Those are my favorite, like the comments and it's like it's like the comment equivalent of like that half smiley face. I'm like, it's so great. Yes, I'm gonna put a printed on a T shirt so we we will definitely um clap back. I think that's the term I was really looking for. So yeah, you know it's it's it's it's the mom way to say it. Um. So we

will definitely do that. And I love that. I would rather have fans reach out to us and say whatever they want because I that ultimately just helps us know what the fans are talking about. And like you said, we know who you are, so we I definitely have saved a few tweets. I'm like, I'm gonna come back to this guy if if we this so this scenario happens or not so. I I think that's um the fun piece of it. Now, the second part of your question. I'd love to hear Angela's thoughts, Um, And I love

that Will hasn't had a chance to talk. I'm sorry. I know I want to let him in, but I just, like I said, because there's a microphone, I get to ask you guys all the questions that I've always wanted to ask, and I will. If you can jump in, please do. If you if you're an avid listener of The Happy Half Hour, just know that Will is just on zoom, just looking at us and in marvel of our greatness. So no, I mean and would build our boss. I'm just I didn't mean the greatness like we're the

best ever. I just mean the best ever. Well, it's funny because Will was like, do you want me? He was like, do you just want to do it yourself? You know, if you if you want to, it's you know, National Girls and Women's in Sports Day, and you know, I think he was just trying to be considerate and I was like, no, we need to do it together. And I think we'll just knew that this is the way it was gonna go. Ye. Just seeing him on

this though, shows he's a true supporter. So um, but so I will I'll toss it over to and and what she thinks about kind of like finding a separation, but it's it's definitely hard, but I will say I would rather have people tweeting at us all day than to not. Yeah, and yeah, I think I've been able to kind of separate it of knowing that, like I can't do anything related too football, so it's like there's

not much we can do. I think the things where it hurts is if we like make a typo or this day, we should have caught that and somebody else did, so either we try to fix it or we're like, you know what, we're human, we mess up, Like we're just gonna roll at the punches and see how it goes.

But I think it's funny that A mentions, you know, she saves different tweets that people send us, because there's times where we you know, we know, we don't know these people that tweet us, but we know them because

they're always in our mentions. So I'll be like, hey, this guy keeps saying this or like, look who's saying this again, so you know, we keep off rads here again like what he said, but I will say like the positive part to to what angel says, we really like not to go into the humor side, but like we often, like I find it really exciting when we get to celebrate our fans um and okaybe you've known because we've we've sent you stuff from Panther Social and

like without even necessarily knowing you, and you know, we send flowers, we send cookies, like, we try to try to be really involved in our you know, especially our our Twitter fan because that is where a bulk of our audiences um. But we definitely try to make sure people know that like we were real humans and we and we really care about people. So I think that's I think if I had to put a legacy of a Panther as well, I love the memes that can

I can toss it over to Daniel and Angela. I think the heart of what I love about the Panthers Social team and that what we built is that, you know, we really try to care about our fans um and be as much as um a positive force as we can and then for those who need a little bit of a snap off clap back, we can dish it.

But um, the main thing I think is like we're we try to have conversations and not just be like a brick wall where like they're just sometimes we have to be, but other times we just try to have conversations, and I think it's go ahead engine. That's the thing that people don't realize that we're in the brand account so much more than we are in our own account.

So it's like we'll see what people are tweeting just on the timeline without even mentioning us, and we're kind of in tune with what's going on with them more so than with our friends because we have to be in that account almost seven to where I don't even really tweet on my own account, and I know Amy is the same way, but like we're really not you know, we're not on our own socials because for a time, yeah, time or creativity, I mean that's your job all the time. Yeah,

I didn't. I just realized a few of my friends I've just followed on my own personal because I don't even go on and I always see them on panthers and I was like, oh wait, we're not actually internet friends because I feel like this was going to be awkward when they get this notification and good friends for a long time. Um, well, do you want to say anything? Sorry? Yeah, So I whenever I tell people I work for the Panthers, they always just ask, oh my god, do you work

for the social media team? Happened to me last week. Yeah, they're superstars. So my question is, how does a young girl in sports get to be you guys? How does someone get to be running the social media accounts for an NFL team? Well? We for the of time, I'll keep it super brief. And Angela did the same thing. I think you just you you are active on social media. I think that's when Angelo how one we hired her.

She was definitely a jack of all trades. She was shooting, editing like and she was also super active on her social media when I creeped on her, um, and I think that's that's a big piece of like, if you're going to be in social, you have to be on social, and then you have to figure out a way to separate brand social if you can, and um, your social just and that's just things are changing and so it doesn't have to be that way, but I think that is a helpful mental health thing to kind of separate

a little bit. But and what would you say in in ten fifteen seconds or less. Yeah, I would just say create your own social as your own brand, and think of it as a way of like you're showing this hiring manager what they would be getting out of you or how you would be creating content for them. I think to like creating our portfolio. They have like

wis pages for free. If you can create your own portfolio and show the stuff that you've done or even highlight some of the tweets or things you've done for yourself or other brands, that's the biggest way to kind of show your work. But that's that's the key, is to be active on social even though I just said that I'm not active on social, but when you're looky and you need to be active and showing what you can do. And and Angela's resume, um, she she failed

to mention this Angel's resume. She made it as like a Twitter timeline. So it was so cool and I was like when I saw that, and I was like, oh, okay, R. I was hired. Okay, let's let's let's bring this person in. Let's see what she's got. And it was awesome. So I would say that would be will my answer. And before we go, Um, I wish we could talk for

another hour. But before we go, as I said from the start, you not only do you run all of these accounts, and as you said, your Aimy, you're in all these meetings and Angela, you're shooting stuff and editing and there's so much going on, but you also both took the time to be at the forefront of today the National Girls and Women in Sports Day, what is going on and with with the anthers today, because we've got some cool stuff that you guys have worked really

hard on. Yeah, we do have some cool stuff. So our first piece is going to be um an article that will highlight different women in the organization's kind of their journeys throughout sports when they were playing, you know, when they were younger, and kind of what they've learned throughout their careers. Um. We have some fun tiktoks to to kind of show people's journeys into you know, their sports career, but also to how they got here in their current jobs. With the Panthers UM and then we

will be announcing a fellowship that was really cool. We created UM just by yeah, just by talking and some of our meetings, and we really wanted to do something meaningful and be active about it. So it will be kind of a rotational program that, you know, when we will be able to come in and work with different departments in the organization to kind of see how we structure things, how we do things. But hopefully it's kind of a you know, a big educational piece and kind

of launching different careers. That's a mic drop moment, Kabe, if I've ever heard one. It's incredible. It's incredible. Thanks for having us on the Gosh, thank for doing this. This is the highlight of my week. I'm so excited. Can we do it again at some point? I still have a list of seventy five questions. We can't wait in Matt Hogan, who um, I know didn't give a chance to say much. I can't wait to pick out what sound bite it's going to be for this broo. Yeah.

Maybe if we do this again, also, maybe I'll let will get more than one question in Okay that I think that's Darry. Thanks for thanks for being on the zoom, and he's just been smiling the whole time, silent. He's the best. You guys are the best. Thank you so much, thank you, thank you. Mr Jenkins told me. Mr Jenks told me. Mr Jenkis told me to always make it easy for the customer. That's you alive person will always

be here to answer the phone. We're here till midnight, seven days a week, so you never have to take off work, and it's the same price as in the daytime. We're the ones you want to call. We're the ones you want to call. We're the ones you want to call. You're gonna love these people. I guarantee see. Go to Morris Chenkins dot com.
